He looked at the doctors questioningly, knowing they would never hurt her but not understanding his mate's frightened state, she was acting the complete opposite of the fearless she-wolf his northern patrol warriors had described her as in their report. " As we told you Alpha although having no serious injuries from the fight, she is malnourished, dehydrated, and exhausted she needs rest to heal so we gave her some medicine to help her sleep. The medicine makes take some time to kick in however and in the meantime, she maybe is a little dazed and confused, she may be reliving memories from old... traumas. Try and get her to relax it will help the meds kick in quicker" one of the doctors explained to him. He nodded at the doctor and then mind-linked everyone to leave the room, he then picked Isabelle up gently and carefully carried her bridal style to the bed where he tucked her in and sat at her bedside stroking her hand lovingly whispering calming words to lull her to sleep.
He stared down at his second chance mate who was peacefully sleeping, there was no denying his strong attraction to her but his human side was telling him to keep his heart guarded after the death of his fated mate Laura and the circumstances surrounding it he still felt betrayed, he decided on that day to never allow himself to go through that pain again so closed off his heart to the possibility of love, an action that led to his reputation becoming even more feared. He didn't want to risk heartbreak again but the thought of rejecting his newfound second chance mate made his wolf growl, the -wolf lying in the bed was his and she needed him to protect her even if the thought terrified him of having his heart broken again he had no choice but to give them a try. As soon as she woke he would find out why she was running and who had hurt her so he can protect her then he will do his best to court her, his plan decided he tried his best to get comfortable and let sleep overcome him too.
Isabelle woke to sun streaming through the window warming her skin lying in a large comfortable bed feeling safe. She couldn't remember the last time she had awoken in a comfy bed with sunlight warming her or she felt so safe, wait do I feel so safe she thought? Suddenly a wonderful scent overcame her senses calming her, her gaze followed the enticing aroma, and thereby her bedside was much to Isabelle's shock her mate. She looked at her mate, he was the largest werewolf she had ever seen, his impossibly large frame was squeezed into a ridiculously tiny chair and he was snoring incredibly loudly. Isabelle took the chance of him being asleep to study him, he was the most handsome werewolf she had ever seen and despite being the largest too Isabelle remembered the loving way in which he looked at her when they first met before she had given in to her exhaustion, she also had fuzzy memories of him carrying her gently to the bed and tucking her in whispering comforting words to help her drift off peacefully. She was in no doubt there was a strong connection between them and he despite his intimidating size could offer Isabelle a happy life full of love but sadly she knew the Rogue Alpha won't ever stop hunting her and would kill her mate and his whole pack just like he did her childhood one to get her back, if she cared for him she would have to leave.
Isabelle with the stealth of a well-trained warrior eased her way out of bed quietly so as not to wake her mate, searching the room she found a pile of clean clothes a clean pair of cotton underwear, a pair of black leggings, and a pink vest top along with a comfy looking pair of shoes, she dressed quickly wincing slightly as she put on the shoes her left ankle was feeling tender but she had been through worse pain so she would bear it. She was just about to sneak out of the room when she found a notepad and pen she couldn't leave without saying goodbye so she penned him a quick note and left it on her pillow before sneaking out the window of the second story building and landing on the ground gracefully.
Isabelle stuck to the shadows of what seemed to be the streets of a residential area, she could see up ahead a road out of the gated community and a truck parked up that was being loaded with goods for transport, she made her way over to the truck with the plan to sneak it when suddenly she heard a loud growl. Turning Isabelle came face to face with a large middle-aged werewolf " ROGUE !! " he shouted sending out a warning to the pack whilst trying to grab Isabelle, Isabelle managed to duck out of his grasp and was thinking about explaining she meant no harm when a group of the angry-looking werewolf's rounded the corner some phasing into wolfs bracing for an attack. Isabelle thought if it came to it she could take them all in a fight but these were her mate's pack members and she didn't want to risk hurting them so she went with her plan B, she retreated as fast as she could using her Alpha speed.
She had been running for about 15 minutes and the mob who were hunting her had fallen behind, up ahead was a huge hill and on the other side of the hill she could see the tips of treetops forming what looked like a forest. Isabelle began to run up the hill planning on once descending making a break for it straight into the forest as she got to the top of the hill however her ankle gave away and she gasped in pain tripping and rolling down the hill landing in a dusty heap. Isabelle tenderly stood up to dust herself off and get her bearings but as she did she looked up and saw that in front of her were about 50 fierce-looking werewolves who were looking at her intensely - she had rolled into the middle of the warrior combat training field. As Isabelle was assessing the warriors and layout in front of her planning how she could get past them and into the forest causing the least amount of harm to them the werewolf who had spotted her first in the residential area and started the hunt to capture her appeared on the hilltop, "ROGUE!!!!!" he screamed pointing at Isabelle and suddenly chaos erupted.
