Selene: The Vampire’s Love Affair

Chapter 3

Ch. 4 / 33 Nov 15, 2025

“Isn’t that the actor Leo?!”

“What’s he doing at school?”

It was a morning with a change of aura because of a sudden change in the law of the R-vampire clan. This morning had been filled with squeals and giggles with the sight of Leo in school and it all started just three hours ago.

“School?” I was really surprised when I woke up.

“Yeah. Apparently, Mother had been informed that the law had been passed out—R-vampires must join the humans in getting their diploma and you’ll have to go as a student with me. They really wanted all vampires but the U-clan cannot travel in broad daylight, remember?” Leo answered by handing me what I believe were the uniforms we ought to wear.

“Yeah.”

I looked at him confused but he just left the room to change.

And that was what brought us to this situation. No explanations or whatsoever. They passed the law and that was it. We just got to follow it.

This was the very first time for us to attend a school with other students. Ninety-seven percent of the vampire population finished their studies privately but the council is surely dreaming of this illusion where humans and vampires can socialize. Fifty-four percent of these vampires have a human container with them who are given so much privilege like me.

“Which class are we in?” Leo interrupted my thoughts.

“Class… 2-1,” I replied, scanning the enrolment paper. “I was told that there would be other transferees these coming days.”

“The council reckons that we should not be hasty to follow their orders and we could start whenever we wanted… I guess since we live closer than the others, we were tasked to go first.”

“Great. Just great.” I whispered, not hiding the sarcasm, and exhaled as we walked down the hallway with all their curious stares.

“Also, we won’t be asked to introduce your identity even to other vampires. Low profile to your own clan.” Leo nodded.

“Class 2-1, right?” We stopped in front of a half-open door buzzing inside.

“That Leo is going to be in our class? Are you kidding me?” A guy spoke inside, making me stop.

“You’re just jealous that he’s more popular than you James!” the girl replied.

Oh, boy…

I slapped my forehead feeling a fuzz in my head.

“Are you alright?” I turned and saw Leo’s face very close to mine. My heart pounded as he helped me regain my composure.

“Y-yeah. Just felt dizzy, but I’m fine. I can’t believe that a guy just insulted you.”

“It’s pretty normal I’d say. You can’t please everyone at the same time with the same intention.”

The door suddenly slid, crashing its sides with a loud sound. An angry guy stood surprised to see us.

“Ah...” He muttered. He looked at Leo then immediately at me where his eyes widened. “S-Selene? Are you, Selene?”

I was startled by how he called me. Who is this guy? How does he know me?

“Ugh… Yes. How do you know my name?”

He smiled widely and placed his hands on my shoulders squeezing me. “It’s me, James! Your playmate when we were like”—he started counting with his hands—“Seven? It’s James Smythe, Selene!” At this point, confusion devoured me and more students approached Leo beside me.

“Sorry, but… I don’t know you… You must have the wrong Selene.” I smiled awkwardly.

“But it’s me, Selene!” He squeezed me more, making me flinch.

“Hands off her.” Leo grabbed his arms, glaring at him like his fangs were ready to pop out. “I said… Let. Her. Go!” I shivered with how Leo spoke. I did not need to look at him to know how pissed he was.

Everyone flinched with his mad voice and the guy slowly removed his hands from squeezing my shoulders. I even saw some girls taking their phones out to take pictures.

“Do you know this guy, Selene?”

“Do you know him, Selene?”

I chuckled with the two guys asking the same question in sync.

“Your name is James, right?”

He nodded. “Yes.”

“Sorry, but I really don’t remember you and, Leo, here…” I turned to Leo who was waiting for my words as well. What should I say? Boyfriend? Best friend?

“She’s just his assistant.” Seth’s mischievous words replayed in my head.

“I’m… Leo’s P.A.”

Leo shrugged, walking away punching the wall hard. What the hell? I just admitted something true. And now he was mad?

“Excuse me, James.” I started running after Leo while he remained in my sight but someone suddenly hit on my shoulder hard making me fall.

“Sorry, Miss! I’m just in a rush!” The guy started running away leaving me on the floor. My arm felt pain and when I looked at it, a pin fell to the ground with a red stain oozing. Shit. I tried standing up but my ankle felt twisted.

“Are you okay?” I looked up and there was a short girl with curly blonde hair looking at me.

“Ah… I don’t know actually…” I gripped the window rails but fell back.

“Do you need help?” Another student approached.

I’m not honestly good with a crowd since I grew up only with Leo. I was only trained to stay by him and nothing more. I couldn’t look at anyone’s eyes with a sudden rush of blood flowing in and out of me. My mind was palpitating.

I closed my eyes feeling a bit hopeless. I’m a pathetic assistant.

“Why are you frowning?” I opened my eyes and Leo was kneeling beside me. “You twisted your ankle?” I nodded and he suddenly wrapped his arms around me. In a split second, he was carrying me like a princess in his strong vampiric arms.

“Put me down, Leo!” I whispered to him but his arms squeezed me more.

“Your blood smells around.” I got confused then turned to my small wound.

“It’s just a small cut, Leo…”

Leo looked at me with wild eyes. “Are you mocking me for sucking your blood or do you want other vampires to devour you like those two from before?”

“What are you saying, Leo? Everyone is looking at us. This might harm your public image!”

“I don’t give a fuck about what they think, Selene. You said it, right? That you’re just my assistant?” He entered the clinic, placing me on the bed, locking the door, and pulling my small wounded arm.

“Why are you mad at me Leo? I… I don’t understand why you’re acting weird and mad since we arrived here.”

I tried pulling my arm but he was stronger than me and I soon felt his cold tongue licking the blood. There were tingling sensations in my spine.

Leo’s hand traveled to my ankle and his coldness made a soothing feeling. It was like ice trying to soothe me first before it burned me.

“Why are you mad, Leo? Tell me…” I raised my free hand and caressed his cheeks smoothly. He looked at me with his crimson eyes as he stopped licking me. His hands slowly moved on my waist, traveling to my arms and to my chest looking straight at me.

“So you seriously want to know?”

His aura changed. It was pulling me inside to say what my mind was thinking.

“Y-yes... ” I shiveringly replied.

He suddenly pushed himself close to my face, making me lean on the headboard, staring at him. “I want… I want…” He huffed and mixed emotions piled up inside me.

With a blink of my eye…

The impossible scene… The thing I never expected to experience my whole life… was happening.

Leo Heathly’s lips were locked against mine. I initially wanted to think that it was a dream. But it would be a dream that I do not wish to wake up from.

His lips were cold, but I did not mind. It was him who started it. I like it. I like him.

Butterflies swarmed endlessly inside my stomach as I closed my eyes. Our lips slowly moved in sync and I found myself slipping my hands on his chest and wrapping around them as he deepened the kiss. He removed the gaps we had. No matter how tiny it was, it disappeared.

After a few moments, he cut loose of the kiss and allowed me to breathe. He had not forgotten that I was human. We stared at each other and I marveled at his beautiful face.

“I want your heart, Selene.” A blush escaped my cheeks as he pecked lightly on my nose. “And I don’t like sharing with other people what I own.”

What did he mean by that?

Was he saying he likes me? I don’t get it.
