“You are what?!”
Thana’s voice resonated inside my condo. I remained seated on the couch while she was pacing back and forth. I didn’t answer her question so she stopped opposite me.
“Selene… Big sister, would you please repeat what you just said?” Her eyes had gone into its vampiric state already. I exhaled deeply. She was not happy at all.
“I said, I think I’m pregnant, Thana… I’m having morning sickness and have been throwing up quite a lot. Or it could just be me.” But I knew she would not consider the latter.
“Who’s the father? This is the loophole I can’t see in my dreams or visions. Please tell me it’s not a human.” She linked her arms just looking at me straightforwardly. I shook my head.
“I did it with Leo.”
Her eyes grew in either disbelief or surprise or maybe both. It was hard to decipher what she had in mind. She was no longer my sweet seven-year-old baby sister, but she had grown as a fine young woman. “Young Lord Leo Heathly, huh? Have you told him?”
“No. He’s busy being a celebrity so it’s hard to talk with him.”
Thana suddenly sighed. “Sis, you do know that you can order anyone to come to you. You’re the queen and everyone will follow you once you give the word. Everyone,” she reiterated.
“That’s not true, Thana. You know that a lot of them still doubt my existence.”
“But, Selene… If what you think is true—that you’re bearing a child—they have to know and especially Leo. He has to know. Let me get it to you straight, you promised me that you’ll be queen when we were young and we need to figure out who caused all the commotion on Father and Mother’s death. But we need to know if you are… carrying a vampire or not.”
“Are you disappointed in how weak I’ve become?” I questioned Thana.
She sat beside me gripping my hands on her chest. “Of course not. Rather than disappointed, I’m surprised and happy… And I will support whatever your decision will be. I’m happy to be an aunt if you are indeed carrying a baby. I’m your little vampire sister forever you know.” Her words gave me comfort and relief that she was definitely there for me. I cuddled in my sister’s arms.
“But I don’t think you’re little, Thana. We’re very old already. Looks can be deceiving.” We both laughed.
“Speak of the devil.” I got up from her arms when she flinched.
“What?”
“Oh, right. Your nose hasn’t adjusted that much yet.”
I nodded. “So what’s up?” I asked again.
“He’s here… Leo’s here to visit you.”
My eyes sparkled and I was very, very surprised. I ran to the balcony and took a peek at the entrance and saw Leo walking with some girls following him, but he ignored them completely. I turned back to Thana.
“What do I do?”
“Tell him beforehand. That’s the right advice I can give you.” I mentally slapped my forehead. Thana was right but nothing could prepare me for the situation. Heck, I didn’t know if I was indeed pregnant!
After minutes, the doorbell rang. I opened it and he was standing very handsomely and manly in his casual clothes.
“Hey,” he greeted. His voice sent shivers of desire inside me. Could I tell him?!
“Hey… don’t you have a shooting today?” I asked and he shook his head.
“I canceled them.” Leo’s eyes remained locked at me.
“So, what brings you here?” I shyly ask, feeling a bit conscious.
“I just wanted to see you.” There was an electric wave that went through my body listening to him. The way he looked at me, I was reminded of how he lavished me for my human blood.
“Are you two going to just stand there and stare at each other or what?” I jumped hearing Thana’s voice behind me.
“Lady Thana!” Leo was definitely surprised seeing my sister here. I think Thana was capable of hiding her presence from other vampires—including families who are part of the Vampiric Council.
“Good day, Young Lord Heathly,” Thana greeted before turning to me. “Give me a call later, okay? I’ll see you soon.” We gave each other hugs and she went off to meet with her bodyguards downstairs.
I cleared my throat before speaking, “Want to come inside?”
Leo nodded. He went in and sat on the couch like he used to.
“I didn’t know you and Her Highness were making up for all those times. If I knew, I would have come another day.”
I smiled at him. “Yeah, I guess you’re right, but it’s okay.”
Suddenly, my stomach felt like it was going upside down and I had to run to my bathroom. It was impossible to just be food. I have not eaten anything weird at all.
“Selene?!” I heard Leo following me, but I couldn’t budge to turn to him now. I let myself throw up nothing but I feel really sick.
“Selene?”
I felt cold hands rubbing my back as I vomited nothing. I twisted the faucet to drink and wash. “Are you alright? Are you ill?” Leo asked. I turned it off and stood up straight, taking a glimpse of his eyes still locked on me filled with worry. “Selene?”
Lust was starting to overpower me as I looked at his broad shoulders and strong arms. Everything that happened that night replayed to me. I recalled how his body took my innocence away. I felt another movement inside me. He held me making sure I wouldn’t fall. I clutched my hands into his shirt and breathed out deeply.
“I’m… I might be pregnant, Leo,” I admitted without warning. I turned to his eyes and they were displaying only one emotion—uncertainty.
I went out of the bathroom and into my bedroom and he followed. “But I’m not a hundred percent sure about it. I just started to feel sick.” I looked away from him.
What was I supposed to expect from him? That he would stay with me?
“I’m going to be a dad?” I was startled with his words.
I turned back to him and he had sparkles in his eyes. “I’m the father, right?”
He pushed me to the wall and his face was very near mine. I gulped on the lump in my throat. “I was the only one who touched you, right?”
I blushed hearing his words before sliding my hands onto his chest. “Yes, if what I think I believe is true that I’m pregnant… then you’re no doubt the fath—” I failed to finish my statement as he locked his lips on me.
Our lips connected and moved sweetly. My eyes remain closed though we parted our lips for a second.
“I love you.” I flinched on his words. My eyes immediately opened and stared at him.
“What was that?” He smirked, pecking on my lips.
“I said I love you. I love you, Selene. Be it, Selene Carmen or Your Highness, Selene Vlad Ambrogio. I love you.”
Water piled in my eyes, blurring my sight. He wiped them with his fingers. “Why are you crying?” I wrapped my arms around his waist, burying my face on his chest.
“I… I love you, too, Lean Heathly. Since the day I met you.” He suddenly chuckled and a crease formed on my forehead. “What’s funny?”
“I know because I have liked you since that day, too. Although our meeting was a memory alteration, and the law made it impossible for us to be together, I definitely fell for you.” I felt his lips on my forehead. “So are you sure you’re carrying a child?” His hands traveled to my womb.
I shook my head. “I’m having the signs but I need to get checked up tomorrow since it’s getting on my nerves.” He wrapped his hands around me tight.
“We only did it once and we have the fruit of that night. I’m glad… that you’re still here, Selene. That you didn’t forget anything.” I felt his nose sniff me out. I looked up at him and he was serious.
“Are you acting, Leo, or is this true?” He chuckled like a kid again.
“Do you want to know what’s real?” He linked our hands and connected his lustful lips on mine again, kissing me passionately. I was getting addicted to his lips.
“We vampires are too special… to be able to produce quickly...” I heard him mumble as he kissed my neck.
“And it’s only six months, unlike humans who have it for nine," I said, caressing his hair. He started sucking on my neck and after moments his lips were back to me.
“How long have I wished to kiss you more…”
“Is that why you kissed me like that in school? And why didn't you back out that night while I was in my human state?”
“Do I really need to repeat myself over and over again?” He squeezed me tighter.
“I. Love. You.”
