It was two hundred ten thousand one hundred fourteen years ago... she was running down the steep hill after working in the vineyard, she trips to the man who was simply resting by a tree. Coincidence? That people may think.
“Owww...” she cried in pain, rubbing her bottom and saw who she stepped onto. “Your... Your Highness!” Her pitch became uneven such as her messy hair caused by the fall.
“Be careful on your way, young lady, ” King Ambrogio said with a smile.
There was a leap of happiness inside her as she replied to him with another smile. “Yes. I will be careful next time, my king. But may I ask why you are alone here?”
“Simply to be alone. What is your name, young lady?”
“Jane sire. Jane von Klein.”
“Ahh. The daughter of the good-natured family. How lovely to meet you. Did you come from the vineyard?”
“Yes. Just helped my parents.”
“That is good to hear. Anyway, I better take my leave. My fiancé must be waiting for me in the palace. Have a pleasant day, Miss Von Klein.” The king smiled as he took his leave.
She clasps her hands on her chest. ‘I shouldn’t feel this way towards His Highness. He is to be married to the current Lady Selene’. She tells her mind but her heart thinks of otherwise.
That night, a ball occurred and as the von Klein family were part of the prestigious Magistrate Council, Jane was the representative of her family. She made sure she looks exquisitely fine in her royal blue gown. The party was said to be an adult-like scenario. But as for her, who had simply turned nineteen that year, this would be a first.
There were “older” vampires dancing sweetly. Probably around a hundred years old. And some were flirting with each other.
The king finally arrived with the beautiful soon-to-be wife.
‘How I wish I was born as the fated Selene...’ another thought came into her mind.
The king simply announced his marriage in a week which devastated Jane. She ran to one of the private rooms and cried to her heart’s content. She has loved the king since the day they met... Love that she knew was impossible in the first place.
The door suddenly creaked open as a vampire of familiar scent entered the room. “Is someone crying in here?” It was definitely the king’s voice.
“My Lord...” She muttered, wiping her tears. “Why are you here?”
“Am I not allowed to?” He chuckled and sat beside her. “Why are you weeping? Has someone caused you distress?”
She shook her head. “No... I... I believe you would think it’s funny but I was just... Heartbroken, sire. The man I admired is going away.”
“Is that so?”
‘How I wish I could tell you, my king!’ Her heart screamed of his name alone even if the king was to tie the knot.
“Yes. And so I decided to cry myself to sleep in a quiet place.”
“Then I shall take my leave then. I understand how you feel...”
“You’re leaving already, Sire?” She asks as he stood up still facing her.
“Yes. My beloved soon-to-be-wife and queen is waiting for me in our chamber. I shall see you again.” And he disappeared.
His words struck her like a thousand hot iron rods laid flat on her throat. She knew right from the start that this day would occur but for her... Everything was still too fast... and unfair...
The month and wedding passed and news spread immediately—Lady Selene and Lord Ambrogio were having the next successor to the throne. Jane was filled with lots of emotions- Envy, sorrow, pain and hatred that she caused herself to explode. She has cast a spell on herself to have what people would refer to as black magic. She could cause a rampage and she could inflict on someone.
Jane’s evilicious daring plans were put into place.
Jane went to the palace to visit the happy couple when she saw Lady Selene alone caressing her womb prettily. It was very obvious that the queen was extremely happy. And like that, Jane inflicted her own wound to Lady Selene making her wince in pain.
“I won’t let you...” Selene pulled Jane but felt pain from the casted spell. “You cannot... Stand by my daughter... until... she becomes capable of ruling! I won’t let you win!” Selene strongly declared but all sense has gotten off Jane. She decided to drink in Selene’s blood-a big no when it comes to royalties.
