"W-WHAT are you doing here?" He glanced down at his wristwatch then looked back at me again.
He looked down at my bleach jeans and white shirt. I was also wearing the backpack I was carrying tightly.
"It's work time. Is there an emergency at the hospital?" he asked. "Is there something wrong?" He took another step to get closer to me, so I quickly looked up at him.
"Tell me, is there a problem?" he asked again.
I swallowed before speaking. "I'm fired." I smiled slightly because his forehead furrowed even more at what he heard.
"You're fired?" He just laughed when he recovered and even held on to his two waists before shaking his head.
So I did the same before leaning into the wall. I laughed a little after shaking and bowing my head.
"Maybe, I'm the unluckiest person in the world, didn't I? I've been given a lot of trouble," I said while shaking my head.
"I'm not sure." He also took a moment in front of me.
"But why?!" I asked him. I looked up at him and met his deep gaze on me.
"Why what? Come on, get dressed and go back to work." He gently grabbed my wrist.
"But I'm fired, Calix. I don't want them to think I can only come back just because of you." I pouted my lips. I looked down at hand he was holding.
I couldn't help but draw a smile on my lips before looking back at him.
"Why? Isn't that true?" His brows raised.
The redness went up to my two cheeks. I couldn't help but hit him on the arm.
He grabbed my hand and stepped closer to me. The smile on my lips immediately faded because of what he did.
"Sir?" We both turned to Miss Ruiz, standing at the end of the hallway.
My lips immediately tightened as she stared at us as if we were doing something wrong.
"At my office, Miss Ruiz," he said, still holding my hand tightly, and pulled me inside.
As I followed him with my head down, I felt embarrassed. My head remained down 'til we entered his office.
None of us spoke as Calixto walked in front of us.
"Cherry had a valid reason why she was absent," he began.
"But, Sir, one month is long enough for us not to accept her reasons. Besides, she already accepted her dismissal. If the employees find out that we overlooked this problem, they may believe it is acceptable to be absent for such a lengthy period of time," Miss Ruiz explained.
"I get your point, Miss Ruiz, but I am your boss and my decision will be followed here."
"It's okay, Calixto, you don't have to put me back to work," I stopped him.
He glanced at me for a moment before continue. "She'll be back at work, and I'll take her back to the night shift."
I couldn't help but widened my eyes at what he just said. What? He will take me back to the night shift?
"Okay, Sir, if that's your decision, no problem." She even glanced at me that's why I was unable to lookup.
"You may leave us alone, Miss Ruiz," he said to his manager. Miss Ruiz took a glance at me again before finally leaving.
"Calixto, you don't have to do that. I'm fine, really. I can still find another job," I said, protesting.
"No, just stay here with me," he said softly.
I couldn't help but wonder about what I heard. Did I hear it right? Does he still want me to stay in his life?
"I mean, just stay here, so it won't be hard for you to find a new job," he explained.
My two shoulders dropped after I heard that from him.
"Yeah, I'll stay," I murmured before smiling slightly at him.
"That's my girl. Have you eaten breakfast? Let's have breakfast together," he asked smoothly.
"Ah, breakfast. Sure! I'm okay with that!" I said as I step back. But he took a step closer. He also gave me a wide smile because of my reaction.
Until he shoved me behind the door. I was pinched tightly as he gently placed his palm on the door leaf.
Is this the continuation of our failed kiss? I looked up slightly and closed my eyes. My red lips were waiting for my first kiss.
I heard him laughing, so I suddenly opened my eyes. He just hissed, then stared down at me with amusement on his face.
"How can we get out if you're blocking the door?" He grinned.
Oh, damn it! It was as if cold water had been poured on me out of embarrassment.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" I bit my lip, bent down, and quickly turned around to open the door, but he immediately pulled my hand in front of him again.
What happened next was fast. He grabbed my two cheeks, lowered down his head, and kissed me softly and tenderly.
My eyes widened at what he was doing. I still clenched my fists because of his audacity, but my hand gradually softened, and I bravely grasped his nape.
His kiss was hot. I thought it will be a quick kiss, but his lips moved, causing me to open my mouth and easily accept his tongue. I couldn't suppress the feeling. This is new, real, and sweet. I just couldn't control myself. My knees went weak, my stomach churned, and my heart stopped on its beat.
My first kiss with him. The man I've been waiting for a long time. The man who fulfills all of my dreams.
I gasped as I kissed him back. I leaned even harder against the door when he touched one of my cheeks.
When we parted, we were both catching our breath.
"You . . ." he whispered to me.
"Me?" I asked while catching my breath.
"You don't know how to kiss," he said as he lifted his lip.
What?! My two knees immediately weakened from the embarrassment. Shit! It is my first time. What did he expect from me?
"But you have the sweetest lips I've ever tasted," he muttered closely. His fingers touched my skin. And before I could say a word, he sealed me again with a sweet torrid kiss.
"Come on. Let's have breakfast together," he whispered between our kisses.
I thought we would go out for breakfast, but I never imagined eating right here at the restaurant.
I could hardly swallow what I was eating because of the stealthy look by the employees, especially Stella and Miss Ruiz.
"Ah, Calix, I think it's awkward for us to eat here?" I glanced around again.
"Don't mind them, just focus on your food," he replied as he continued eating.
I could do nothing but bend down and swallowed the food in front of me. He offered to take me to the hospital when we finished the food, which I did not refuse.
"Thanks for the free ride," I said. I was about to get out of the car when he held my hand.
"About earlier, I mean the kiss," he said huskily.
I couldn't speak because of nervousness. I saw him play with his lips while staring at mine.
"I-I just wanted to do it again."
And right there, he moved closer and kissed me softly. I couldn't even be retaliated because that kiss was only for a moment.
"I started loving your lips," he whispered as I smell his fresh breath.
I quickly hovered over my wet lips after biting them hard.
Eventually, I was able to speak. "Well, see you later?"
"Yeah, I'll pick you up later." He was the first to come down to open the door for me.
"Careful when you're driving," I said, and I was sure that there was still a trace of redness on both cheeks. He nodded, then turned around to get in the car and drive away.
"Oh my God!" I said, still touching my lips. It was true that he kissed me, and it wasn't just a dream. I even pinched my arm just to make sure I wasn't dreaming, and when I was hurt, I smiled as if I had won the lottery.
I could still see my wide smile as I went to Dad's room. But from where I was standing, I could see the man sitting in the waiting area opposite of Dad's room.
