Rexon was gone, but I still stayed where I was. What am I going to do here when my work is done?
I was about to turn around to go back to the couch when the doorbell rang. I went back to the door and opened it.
I rolled my eyes, thinking it was Rexon.
"Hi!" Devon smiled broadly at me.
I didn't catch it right away because he looks different tonight. He's not wearing his uniform that I always see. I couldn't help but stare at him.
He's wearing a printed white T-shirt and jeans. He was also not wearing a hat, so his face almost shines in front of me.
"Ah, I would like to invite you out?" Shame seemed to precede because his gaze immediately turned in another direction after saying that.
I couldn't help but smile and opened the door wide. It's okay to entertain others if all I see here is friendship. I'm single anyway. After all, this is what Rex wants-for me to do what I want.
"Come in first. I'll just get dressed for a while."
I no longer waited for him to answer. I immediately turned around and went to my room to change my clothes. I have a hard time choosing what to wear. But in the end, I chose the royal blue dress with a high waist. I brought this dress with me in case there was a special occasion, but it seems that there isn't one, so I chose to wear it tonight.
I pulled my hair over my shoulders and let some of it fall to the side of my cheeks and nape. I put on a little makeup and light touch of lipstick.
I found Devon sitting on the couch while playing with the key he was holding. He quickly raised his eyes to me when he felt my presence. When he saw me, he immediately stood up.
"W-wow!" he said in surprise.
I was suddenly embarrassed by his reaction. I feel like I want to go back inside and change my clothes again. But then he suddenly turned and scratched his neck.
"I-I mean you're beautiful in that dress," he countered back.
"Thanks," I shyly said.
I was not surprised when he took me to the restaurant below the hotel. There was a dinner with candlelight prepared for us.
"Thanks for the food. I enjoyed it," I said in my low tone voice. I turned my gaze on the sea and feel the cold breeze of the late-night evening.
"I'm happy you enjoyed it that much," he replied.
I bent down to marvel at the white sand I was stepping on. The beach was gentle beneath my feet. I was enjoying the idea of walking under the moon and on the silky white sand.
"I'm the one to thank you for accepting my invitation." He smiled at me.
"No problem. I don't have anything to do tonight either," I answered.
"How about Rexon? Is it okay for him to let you out?" he asked.
"Yeah, of course! Rexon has nothing to do with my personal life." I laughed. How come he asked me that question?
I heard a sigh of relief coming from him after I said that. I stopped walking because I already feel tired. I looked back at a distance we had walked to be surprised.
"It's a long way from the hotel," I said. I also looked at the nearby Pavilion, where I can hear loud sounds coming from the mobile.
"Are you tired? I can carry you on my back if you couldn't walk anymore." He tilted his head to mine and waited for my reply.
"No, I'm fine. Thank you!" I fixed the strand of my hair that fell out of the ponytail and because of the embarrassment.
"As you said, my lady."
I awkwardly blinked with feigned innocence. What did he say?
I thought he would take back what he said, but his attention was on the sea. I cleared my throat to remove the blockage there.
I have a chance to check on him while he was busy watching the waves. His shoulder is so broad that anyone would want to be confined in his arms. I can't help but compare him to Rexon. He has a rough and masculine body, while Rexon has a sculpted body that is very firm and straight in an attractive way.
I suddenly averted my gaze when he turned to me.
"Do you like beaches?" he asked.
I slightly shrugged. I can't say it's my favorite because I've only been here once. I only saw beaches on social media like Facebook and Instagram. I don't have the budget to give my body that luxury, even if I want to.
"Really? Almost everyone like beaches, 'cause it'll give you some relaxation and peace, especially when you want to take a break to a busy life," he muttered.
At some point, yes, for those who can afford it. I am contented to earn and eat three meals a day. I don't have time to go to the beach. I no longer care about my personal happiness as long as I can meet my father's needs.
"It's better to watch the beach in the morning. Do you want to come jogging with me tomorrow?" he asked again.
"Oh, no. I might just disturb your training." I shook my head.
"Come on. I'm not with some marshal. Its only you and me." He smiled at me. I swallowed before hesitating to answer.
"Ah, eh, all right." I can no longer refuse because shame has preceded me.
"Well, I'm kinda excited, you know?" His lips tilted slightly towards me, and I blushed.
"Let's go back to the hotel. The air was getting a little cold." Without saying a word, he grabbed my hand. I couldn't help but stare at his gesture, especially when he smiled at me.
