I JUST stared at him and pulled on his leather jacket again. But he firmly restrained me.
"I'll take you home."
This time his voice became serious that slowly pinning me at my chair. He turned off the engine before getting out of the car without saying a word.
I wanted to stop him, but he quickly got in front of me to open the door. I met his gaze, and I couldn't help but traveled along with his sharp features with my eyes. His dark eyes, which sat below his dark brows, were tiny and evenly spaced.
As he stared at me, I noticed that he had a bridged nose that constantly hooked over in his soft lips, which were painted a natural red, and his jaw was set firm and clinched.
"Aren't you planning to go out of my car?!" he shouted at me while his face was wet because of rain.
I got up from my seat, and he immediately snatched his leather jacket from me. My face warmed as he crept closer and wrapped his arms around my shoulder. He looked at me over his shoulder, and his eyes were glistening in the dark.
I don't know what to feel right now, so I just glanced away. It's a strange feeling and frightening. I don't want to feel like this.
"Your shirt is soaked with rain!"
"Don't mind me," he whispered in reply. I closed my eyes because his hot breath was already kissing my cheek.
Fortunately, we quickly reached the opposite side of the house. The jacket was not enough to protect me because of the heavy rain.
I easily found the key in my bag to open the door. I couldn't help but tremble my knees from the cold. Even my lips seemed numb to the breeze.
I turned to him quickly as I opened the door. I was suddenly stunned as I met his gaze. Anyone will stop when they see him, especially the way he looks. He can easily make a girl fall for him effortlessly.
I looked up and quickly scolded myself. No way! I will not let myself be caught in his trap! Never!
"Ah, come in?" I uttered.
"No, thanks. I'll better get going." He gently ruffled his wet hair to wipe away the water that added to his sex appeal.
Damn, why do I have to notice all of his actions?
I quickly averted my eyes from him. But my eyes instantly looked back when he stepped closer and looked straight into my eyes.
"I'll go ahead. See you tomorrow," he slowly said right to my cold face.
I noticed my feet trembled and my face heated. Damn! I hate this feeling. I want to push him out so that my heartbeat returns to normal. But it gets heavier and heavier.
"Thanks, be careful," I said.
He just nodded before he turned away and went back to his car.
"Thank you," I whispered.
***
"OMG! Is it true that you are now working for Rexon?!" Jacky's eyes widened as she raised both feet on our sofa set.
I nodded and ignored the excitement on her face.
"It's not bad at all, you know. I really believe in destiny." She giggled.
"Tss. What are you saying?" I asked, then I looked away. I don't want her to saw my blushing face.
"No matter how much you avoid getting close to Rex, it's destiny that brings you closer. Can't you imagine that?" She even widened her eyes at me.
I didn't bother to answer her goddamn statements. Instead, I just continued cleaning my nails. I was about to apply nail polish when my phone rang.
I grabbed my cellphone and answered it immediately when Rexon's name registered on the caller.
"Hello?" I said in my low tone voice.
I glanced at Jacky, who turned to sit down while smiling at me.
But I frowned because there was no answer on the other line.
"Hello? Rex, are you there?"
"Y-yes," he replied. I heard a slight cough from the other line.
I adjusted my seat and felt hid heavy breathing.
"What's wrong?" I asked, confused.
"I need you here." His cold voice screeched my heart.
A heavy silence settled over him. Only silence lingers in the air that was hard to explain. But Rexon dropped the call.
"Oh, what did he say?" Jacky asked in astonishment.
"I-I need to go," I said as I quickly went to my room to get dressed and prepared myself to leave.
I quickly drove to his place. My heart drowning in excitement for some reason. I don't want to admit it, but after what happened last night, it was as if my feelings for him had changed. He wasn't as bad as I thought. He also has a heart.
My eagerness causes my eyes to dart to the door, but they suddenly appear to wither with dread. As I retreated to the knock, I felt a surge of anxiety. But soon, I found myself ringing the doorbell.
But no one opened the door. I made a few more presses on the buzzer but still nothing.
"Rex?" I gripped the door handle, and I was amazed when it opened.
I'm tempted to look through the open door, but I'm hesitant to go inside. This sensation was odd. It feels as though I'm in the middle of a dangerous fire and yet completely safe at the same time.
I followed the feeling and bravery that prompted me to enter.
"Rex?" Again, I couldn't help but roamed my eyes inside his condo, especially at his full-sized portrait that grabbed everyone's attention.
I hovered when I looked inside the house. It was as clean and tidy as before; based on the cleanliness, it did not seem that a man resides here. The interior design was stunning, with a beautiful high arched window. On one side, there were basic kitchenettes. The couch sets, as well as the thin blue carpet, were gorgeous. I feel so light, yet my heart was contracting, and it felt like there was no oxygen left in my lungs.
My eyes flew quickly to his room. I mustered up the courage before knocking.
"Rex?" I bit my lip when I heard some noises inside.
"Rex, are you there?" But no one answered again. I turned the doorknob, and I found out it wasn't locked either.
I peeked inside, but the whole room was dark. I was swallowed up by the rising thrill of my heart.
I gasped heavily. My heart was pounding so fast while holding the doorknob tightly. I'm not scared of ghosts, so why do the darkness and silence of the surrounding make me feel uneasy?
Then suddenly, I heard a sound coming from inside. I was about to run, but someone spoke.
"Cherry . . ."
