WE WALK back to the hotel. I was so tired because it wasn't a joke how far we walked. And ever since then, Devon has just held my hand.
"Devon!" The woman's loud voice made us turned. I spotted Logistic staff Zoila and Lorelei approaching us. The amusement in their eyes was not safe for me either, noticing that our hands were still together.
I quickly pulled my hand away from Devon and slightly avoided looking at them.
"Hey, where are you from?" Zoila asked as she approached us.
"Dating." He has no hesitation in his answer. My eyes immediately widened, and my cheeks flushed at what he said.
"Aww, you're sweet!" Lorelei's words didn't stop either.
"Just kidding! We actually just had dinner and went for a walk," he countered back.
The two seemed convinced because they just nodded. I couldn't help but sigh because of the situation.
"Well, let's go inside. The party was about to start!" Zoila chirped, pulling Devon's arm away.
"Ah, enjoy the night!" I said.
"Hey, this is just once in a while. When we return to the city, we will see only walls and buildings again, so let's go!" Lorelei pulled my arms.
I looked at Devon as if asking for help, but Zoila was already dragging him away. So I had no choice but to follow.
I'll just try to run away later when I have the chance. I was not really a party-goer. Even though I've been working at Calixto's bar for a long time, I don't really drink.
We already reached the Pavilion. I was almost intoxicated by the varied smell of alcohol, smoke, and sweat of the dancers in the middle.
"Cherry?!" Yvette called me, and she quickly kissed me on the cheek.
"Where the hell have you been? We've been waiting for you!" With the bottle in her hand, she pointed towards Feli, Porsche, and Mayla, sitting at the same table.
But what I didn't expect was when I saw Rexon's table with some women. I also saw Candice next to Rexon.
"Oh? We thought you were asleep because you haven't come back since earlier!" Feli greeted me.
"Actually they're dating. Isn't that sweet?" I saw Zoila pinched Devon on the cheek, who only smiled slightly.
I seemed to be tempted to stand because I saw Rexon turned in my direction. The night has come, but he was sitting like sunlight.
His eyebrows furrowed. His lips stretched firmly, and his angry gaze sliced my heart big time.
I wanted to run away because he frowned when he saw me. His eyes traveled down my body. I firmly wrapped both hands in front of me because of the kind of look he was giving me.
"Wow, you're already on first base. Why didn't you tell us?" a marshal asked Devon.
Devon scratched his nape lightly, and I knew it was because of nervousness and embarrassment.
"I'm so proud of you, men!" The man held up the beer bottle, so Devon reached for him before turning to me.
"Are you alright?" He grabbed my elbow for support.
I looked first at Rexon, who was now no longer looking at me. So I smiled at Devon, who had already guided me to sit down.
I wanted to protest because he made me sit just behind Rexon. The couch wasn't enough to lessen my pounding heart. I could hear his laugh even more.
"You're blushing, Cherry. Is that because of Devon?" Porsche asked while grinning.
My tongue seemed to knot, and I couldn't answer.
"That's enough, girls. Maybe Cherry isn't used to your jokes." Devon stopped her.
"You are one of a kind, Devon! Keep it up!" Porsche was obviously drunk.
I bowed as Porsche turned to look at me as if embracing me.
"Does Devon have a chance in your heart?" Feli asked, smiling at me.
There, I was sweating sticky because I didn't know what to answer. The truth was that Devon never told me that he would court me.
"Actually I haven't confessed yet!" Devon said before shaking his head again. They cried out in frustration as I seemed to want to sink into my seat.
I heard his slight laugh next to me before I bowed my head. "I'm sorry about that," he whispered.
He literally whispered it in my ear that's why I felt his lips touched my ear.
"Ah, it's okay," I uttered. I also slightly adjusted on my seat and cleared my throat.
It's good that they've lost their attention to us because they already have their own story to tell. Until Feli dropped me a bottle of root beer.
"Thanks, but I don't drink." I shook my head.
"Come on! Someone just brought it here, the waiter said it's for you." Mayla groaned as she cut the pork chops in front of her.
I suddenly looked around with full of astonishment.
"Cherry!" Jeff waved at me. His eyes glistening in the darkness.
I stretched a little smile before nodding at him.
"Come on, join us!" I lifted my back as he walked in my direction.
"Guys, may I borrow this beautiful lady for a while?" Jeff bowed to me with his hand outstretched.
Again, temptation filled the area because of what Jeff had done.
"Such a lucky girl!" Porsche flipped her silky corn hair and laughed out loud.
I feel like all my skin was red from the nervousness.
I even looked slightly at Devon as if stabbed to sit next to me. I knew it would trample on his ego because of what Jeff had done, so I looked up at Jeff and stood alone.
I patted his hand and smiled. "You don't have to do this. I'm fine," I shyly said.
Jeff just smiled at me and grabbed my hand without saying a word.
"Excuse us, guys!" Jeff said goodbye to them. I even glanced at Devon, who also followed me with a look.
"Cherry, is that you?!" Skye almost rose in his seat when he saw me.
"Yes! Gorgeous, isn't?" Jeff's arrogantly answered him.
"Can you introduce her to us?" a man in their group said to Jeff.
Jeff glanced at me first before whispering. "Is it okay?"
My eyes immediately searched for Rexon, who was sitting on the couch. I watched the whites in his eyes turned pure black. His lethal stare felt painful and piercing as if his glare was tearing my heart apart.
I narrowed that look at me, but I looked at Jeff before everyone else.
"Sure, no problem." I wore my persisting smile to everyone.
"Guys, this is Cherry Mae," Jeff introduced me.
"Hi! Carrick Saavedra, and this is Cindy, my girlfriend!" He stood up to shake hands with me. I smiled at them slightly after facing the woman he introduced.
"Hi, Cherry!"
"Hi!" I shyly said.
"And I'm Jocko! 24, single!" He quickly grabbed my hand. I couldn't help but smile at what he said.
"Hi! Nice to meet you, Jocko!" I uttered.
"And the man behind you is Lawrence Saavedra, the owner of the hotel and this pavilion," he introduced the man sitting next to Rexon.
He waved at me because a woman next to him was leaning on him, so he couldn't stand up. After they introduced me, he guided me to sit down.
"Cherry, right? How old are you?" Cindy asked me.
"I'm 23."
Instead of answering, she handed me her calling card. I frowned as I picked it up and read it slightly.
"I'm a designer. I like your body and your angelic face. You can be a model." She's scanning my whole body with interest.
"Thank you," I replied. I don't know what to say after hearing her praise.
"If you're interested, my boutique is open for you. I'm actually going to launch a clothing line this coming year. I think it would be better if you're one of those who will wear my designs," she said with a wide smile.
"Thank you. I have a job now but I'll consider this offer." I smiled at her, and she nodded at me.
"Just keep that calling card. If you change your mind, just call me." I nodded again before she confronted her boyfriend, Carrick.
