More Than A Business Deal

Creepy feelings

Ch. 53 / 73 May 09, 2026

“You should get some sleep and not stare at me like that” Atticus scolded me from where he was standing by the window trying to put on his watch.

He was on his way to work but it was too early and I was in no mood to stand up to have breakfast with him or rather I had no energy to stand up.

Ever since we started staying together in this room, Atticus fucked me every single night or rather on most nights which left me reasonably sore but I wasn’t complaining. I wondered why he always had so much energy especially if he was always working.

“I am sleeping, just with my eyes open” A loud yawn escaped between my lips and I stretched involuntarily and felt my joints crack as I moved. I knew I had to get up soon because the gallery was almost done so I was really busy but I wanted to rest a little bit.

“Are you going to the gallery later?” he asked me while I stretched again. We were just a few weeks to the opening so I had been going there every day to check on things by myself. I didn’t want to change anything when the process was done.

"No. I have to complete a drawing today” Just like I had been going to the gallery, I had also been painting like crazy and now I had over thirty completed artworks ready to be hung on the day of the opening.

“I have not yet seen a single one of your drawings and we live together. When are you going to show them to me?” Just like I promised myself, I had not shown a single soul one thing I had drawn.

“You’ll see them on the opening day. You’ll be pleasantly surprised” I had a mini collection called Mine and it was just six drawings of him from different angles.

“That’s not fair now. I am your husband so I should see them first” He grabbed whatever he wanted and was ready to head out.

“Well, deal with it” I joked with a smirk which he returned.

Atticus leaned down to kiss me. He pulled away after pressing his lips lightly to mine but it was too short for me so I used his tie to pull him to me so I could kiss him properly.

“Have a nice day” I mumbled against his lips and pecked him once more before letting go of his tie.

“You too” I gave him a small smile and watched him leave the bedroom before throwing myself back down against the pillows.

I yawned once more as soon as the door shut behind him and that was enough sign for me to know that I was not ready to get up just yet so I let myself be pulled into the beautiful land of dreams. Work could wait for just a teeny, little bit of time.

I woke up feeling like a well-fed newborn baby. I loved sleeping and if life didn’t require me to be on my feet always, I would have spent the majority of my time sleeping.

I took a quick shower before heading downstairs so I could have lunch since it was noon already. I slept for a really long time. My body was catching up to the sleep I lost during the week and it was very much appreciated.

“I thought you weren’t going to come down at all today,” Lorenzo teased as soon as I entered the kitchen.

Now that I was a lot closer to Lorenzo, I didn’t eat in the dining if Atticus wasn’t at home. Instead, I spent the majority of my time in here with him and Lily if I didn’t have anything to do.

“Leave me alone and feed me. I am hungry” I moaned and let my head drop against the kitchen counter where I had taken a seat.

“You are contradicting yourself. How can I possibly feed you and leave you alone?” he mocked.

“Don’t be such a smartass and give me something to eat before I die of hunger” I pouted instead.

“Well, I can’t help it if I am so smart,” he said and I gaped in shock. I was not having any peace at all.

“Look who decided to finally grace us with her immaculate presence” I groaned in frustration as Lily walked into the kitchen and went to stand by Lorenzo.

“Heyyy, how come she gets to go behind the counter and I don’t? You are being unfair to me” I whined because Lorenzo never lets anyone including me get behind the counter into what he tags as his personal space.

He claimed we would mess things up for him when we took something and did not put it back in the right place.

“That's because she knows the dos and don’ts of this place which you don’t” He placed my breakfast in front of me and I dug in immediately remembering to moan on impulse because Lorenzo’s cooking was one you could never get used to.

“Then teach me or tell me, it’s that easy” I spoke with my mouth full and both of them groaned in disgust while I just attempted to laugh it off but it made things worse and funnier as I watched them act as though they were puking.

“You both are so dramatic, you’ll be perfect for each other” I hissed but the reaction I got from both of them had me doing a double-take.

“Waitttttttt, you slimy greasy peasants, what is going on between you two?” I pushed my food aside and sat forward with my hands clasped together. I was sure my eyes were gleaming with excitement.

"I..I..I don’t know what you are talking about. Nothing’s going on. You are just seeing things that aren’t there” Lily stuttered and tried to walk away but I stood up fast and blocked her so she wouldn’t be able to run away.

“If nothing’s happening, then why are you behaving like a criminal who has been caught red-handed” I pointed my fingers at her and even pinched her red cheeks “You are even blushing? You can’t deny it”

When she still wouldn’t say anything, I turned to Lorenzo instead but didn’t move so Lily wouldn’t use that opportunity to run away. “Tell meeee, why aren’t you saying anything?” I whined.

"Because nothing is really going on, I promise I’ll tell you if it was otherwise” I frowned in disbelief because I didn’t believe them one bit “I’m leaving it alone now but I promise I’ll find out soon” I wiggled my fingers at the two of them before moving out of the way.

The moment I stepped aside, Lily flew past me like a breeze and it was like she was never here. I laughed at that thought before going back to sit down so that I could finish my food.

“Thanks, Lorenzo, I want to take a walk so I can get some of this food out of my system. I think I ate a little too much and now my stomach is too tight” I told him after I had finished eating my meal.

“Why didn’t you stop eating when you noticed you were a bit full?” Lorenzo asked while he cleared the plates.

“As if one can stop eating the food that you made unless the plate is empty” I scoffed but he just shrugged with pride.

“Bastard," I said but he only laughed at me. I headed out of the house and made my way through the paths that led to the back of the house where the garden was.

I rarely visited the garden to spend quality time but I had seen it countless times from the house.

I let my thoughts roam as I took my time to walk slowly along the well-maintained path. I looked around and thought of the first time I had come here.

Looking back now, I can’t even remember if I was either happy, hopeful or enthusiastic about the wedding but now I was just happy that everything looked like it would work out for good on my behalf.

I shivered involuntarily and was suddenly aware of my environment for reasons unknown to me so I paused in my steps. Everywhere around me was silent but I felt like someone was watching me and it made goosebumps appear on my skin.

I rubbed my hands along the length of my arm to get rid of the goosebumps but they won’t go away.

The eyes on me were creepy even though I could not see it or the person. It felt like something was crawling up my body and it was making me shudder in shock.

I wanted to call Justin, but I didn’t want to look like a fool if they didn’t find anyone lurking around the property, so I decided to dismiss it as a figment of my imagination.

I kept looking everywhere, but I couldn’t see a single person, and no one was watching me from the house.

I didn’t know if I should be scared or not but I wanted to believe that I was being delusional and not being watched by a weirdo.
