The house was bustling with activities. I was running around trying to make sure everything was in place. AXE Construction has just completed its biggest project ever.
It was 57 stories apart from the penthouse apartment skyscraper in the middle of the city and we were going to be moving into the penthouse.
I loved this place and I didn’t want to move but there was no way to stop Atticus because he was very excited and proud of that place.
The penthouse was very big and spacious. It was a really spacious house and it had ten bedrooms which goes far to show how massive it was. There were four bedrooms for the staff on the lower floor of the penthouse and the remaining six on the upper floor. The master bedroom was at the end of the hallway and it was the largest bedroom in the penthouse.
The bedroom was all I needed to see to know that I was definitely moving in there. Since we were on the top floor, I had an unobstructed view of the city and it was the most magnificent sight. The balcony was so spacious, it could be used as another room.
The penthouse was covering the entire floor so we weren’t sharing the penthouse floor with anybody. I felt like I was slowly becoming a lavish wife and I loved the feelings but right now we had to hurry with the move.
For the staff, we were only taking five, Lorenzo, Lily, Maria and two others, which meant we unfortunately had to let go of the rest of the people. We weren’t so cruel as to let them go without giving them anything so Atticus dispersed them to other jobs in his company and I was grateful to him for doing that otherwise, I would have probably died of guilt.
“Hazel, we have to go to Central High. I heard it’s a mess over there. The movers can conclude the rest here”
Central High was the name of the apartment building and today was also the opening ceremony for the apartments which I would be hosting and everything was making me go slowly insane with how hectic everything was.
“A mess? How can it be a mess? Lily get the driver while I grab my purse” Lily hurried out of the house to get the driver while I rushed upstairs to our now-empty bedroom to grab my bag that was sitting on the bed.
I had contacted Danielle to help me out over there and she was happy to do so. I thought she would be capable of helping me out alone, which was why I was over here organizing the move while Atticus got some last-minute work done at the office.
He had been skeptical about letting me handle everything and said it would be too much stress for me so I had to convince him that I was bored of sitting idle and I needed something to do. I even had to beg that I could pull it off plus I had Lily and the other staff helping me out.
But as I raced down the steps to catch up to Lily, I regretted my decisions and why I said I would be able to do it all by myself because I felt like I could tear my skull into two with how stressed I was.
I got into the back seat and we were off. Lily turned her body so she could face me since she was sitting in the front seat. “Danielle called and said the cake is being delayed and she has been unable to get a hold of the baker”
“What are you even saying? How can she be unreachable now? Dani promised that the baker was highly professional and would definitely come through for me so what’s all this now?
“She says the baker said she is stuck in traffic and may not be able to make it in time”
I didn’t even bother to reply to Lily and just ended up calling Dani instead. She picked before the first ring. Guess she has been anticipating my call.
“I am so sorry Hazel, she called just now and said she would be able to make it in time, she just panicked,” Danielle said on the other end of the call before I could even get a word out of my mouth.
“I’m already on my way. You had me so scared for a moment there. This is the first event I am putting together for my husband. I can’t afford for anything to go wrong Dani” I practically begged her because she was my lifeline for the day.
“I know that is why I am practically almost at the point of madness because I want everything to be perfect and exactly the way you told me you wanted it without missing a single detail.”
"I know and I am so sorry for making you do this for me. I’ll be there really soon okay? Just hang on a little”
“What are you saying? It’s not a burden at all. I am doing this for you because you are my sister and I would do everything to help you out. No, not there, place it over there” She yelled and I removed the phone from my ears for a bit before placing it back.
“You must be very busy. Thank you, babe. I am already at the entrance, you’ll see me now” We arrived at Central High and someone opened the door for me.
We were holding the party in the large hall that was on the ground floor of the skyscraper. I thought it was the genius of Atticus to place a hall that could be used for anything and can be transformed into whatever.
There would be a total of forty persons were invited to the opening excluding the media and they were also a limited number of them. This was to ensure that things didn’t get out of hand. Because the skyscraper was built with a whole lot of money, there was a limit to the people allowed to buy an apartment there hence only about half units have been sold and even with that, they were not all invited.
I tried to argue with Atticus concerning that but he wouldn’t budge and insisted that he knew what he wanted and that his decision was final so I just went with whatever he wanted.
I practically raced through the lobby ignoring everyone who was on my way and stormed into the hall. Everyone stilled as I came in so loudly before activities began again.
“Wow, you look like a madman is chasing you” Danielle mused as she walked to me.
“Everything looks fine?” I scanned the hall to see that decorations were done and the workers were putting things away and something caught my eye.
“Wait….is that not the cake being set up over there?” I stuttered in shock and confusion while Danielle and Lily were both trying to keep it in.
“What’s happening here? Did you people lie to me?”
“Not lie. We just wanted you to take a break. Lily take her up and make sure she sleeps” Danielle ordered while I just stood there with my mouth wide open.
“I can’t sleep, there is so much to be done”
“And there are people who do that. You don’t want to host a party looking like a zombie, or is that what you want?” Her eyes told me there was no room for argument and honestly there was no way I could win an argument when she was involved.
“I will never forgive you for this” She just laughed at me because she knew I didn’t mean it while I just allowed Lily to drag me away.
“I can’t believe you people tricked me like that,” I told Lily when we were finally in the private elevator “I can’t sleep when so much has to be done”
“It’s just moving left and you’ve organized everything else. Just get two hours of sleep before the stylist arrives okay”
“Okay, it’s not like I have any choice.
