It’s been three weeks since we moved in here and I was well adjusted to the environment. I had such good luck since my neighbours were such nice and warm people and not the snobbish type I was expecting.
I even made some friends with the women on the floor below ours. Jennifer, Sandy and Ria were such amazing women and I enjoyed spending so much time with them even though they were significantly older than I was but that didn’t matter to them so I didn’t let it bother me one bit.
I was setting up the balcony because I had a lunch date with them to thank them for helping me out yesterday during the opening of my gallery.
After such a hectic time, I finally got the courage to go back and complete it and we finally opened yesterday thanks to their help and Danielle. I had not been spending much time with
Danielle since she was currently out of the country so I was spending my time with them instead.
Atticus made sure I wouldn’t stay cooped up in my new studio at home and always called Lily to drive me out if she thought I’d stayed too long there. I wasn’t complaining though since the new friends I made were such great company.
“Do you need us to set the table now or do we wait until they arrive?” Lily asked me from the bedroom door.
“Yes, you can set the table now but for the food, can you hold on till they arrive? I don’t want them to get cold before they get here”
“Okay. I’ll let you know when they come”
“Thank you” I gave her a small smile before she closed the door behind her leaving me alone once more. I checked the time on my phone and saw that it was almost time for them to get here so I decided to change into something else since I already took my bath when I came back from the gym downstairs.
We had a gym in our apartment but I just loved working out with other people. To me, there was a different feeling and motivation you get when you worked out in a group. I don’t know if it’s just me or if other people felt the same way too.
The one thing I loved the most about the similarities I shared with these ladies was our love for casual clothes. I was so surprised the first time I saw Ria in sweats and sneakers in the mall and to make things better, she was wearing sneakers from my favorite brand so we bonded instantly and she introduced me to Jennifer and Sandy.
Out of the three ladies, Ria was the one closest to my age so we were a little bit closer than the rest of the group. She was 29 and had two kids of her own, twin boys. They were the most adorable set of twins and I was always in her apartment because of them. I always loved kids, especially twins and wanted to have one of my own.
I caught sight of a pink set of hoodies and sweatpants that still had the tag on them. I got them because they looked pretty on the dummy but I was too busy playing dress up to actually wear them but they were definitely getting worn today.
I slipped on the pair and packed my hair into a messy bun before heading out of the closet. I was comfortable with the girls so I didn’t need to put on any makeup and if I was right about them, they would also show up bare like me because it would be stupid to dress up when they were just coming up to the floor.
The door to my room opened once more and Lily snuck her head past the half-opened door with a sheepish smile “They are here and we already placed the food on the table. If you want to meet your plate, you better head down now”
She wasn’t wrong because Sandy was a big foodie and ate a lot but because she literally lived in the gym, it didn’t show on her body and she had the most enviable figure you would ever see.
“Oh shit… I am coming, let me just grab my phone” I did just that and left the room after Lily. I made my way to the balcony to see the trio had already started eating without me and I didn’t mind one bit because that’s just who we’ve come to be.
“I see how it is. You didn’t even bother to wait for the host of the party” I called as I entered
the balcony and all heads snapped to me. They looked so hilarious, paused halfway before they seemed to come out of their trance and continued eating like I didn’t just say a word.
“We are matching” Ria suddenly squealed. She pushed her plates aside and stood up with her hands spread out. We were wearing the exact same thing but hers were in pastel blue
“We are practically soulmates” She rounded the table to stand beside me before throwing her arms around me and pulling me to her as if she were showing off.
“Yeah yeah, we got it now, sit your ass down so we could eat. I starved myself all morning so I could eat Lorenzo’s food” Jennifer spoke with food in her mouth and Ria groaned in disgust.
“You have to remember you are a lady, Jen, don’t be such an animal” Ria scolded but Jen just rolled her eyes and continued eating.
“You know I agree with Jennifer. I have begged your husband a billion times to let me borrow Lorenzo for a week, I’ll return him back in one piece” Sandy told me. She moaned as she practically inhaled a chicken.
Ria gasped “Did you just swallow the whole lap in one go? You are a monster” She looked so traumatised that we couldn't help but burst into laughter.
“I could never give Lorenzo to you. I also can’t do without his cooking, I’ve practically never eat outside since I married Atty” I picked up a spicy chicken and took a bite out of it as well.
One thing that no one could beat Lorenzo was when it came to meat. The man can grill and fry any meat to perfection and have you wanting to eat more until you can’t walk.
“If I were you, I wouldn’t either” Ria moaned.
“Ladies, how are you enjoying your lunch?” Lorenzo stepped in with a glass of wine and filled each glass, never taking off that pompous smirk on his face. No doubt he overheard our conversations.
“As if you have to ask. The moment I see his face, I don’t want him anymore” Sandy huffed. I swear those two acted like a married couple and if Sandy wasn’t already married I would have seen the sparks.
“Ugh me too. He is so insufferable. You are lucky you can cook” Jen piped in
“Thank you, Ladies, I’ll leave you to your meal” He gave a mock bow and left us with an even wider and shit-eating grin. I just shook my head at how childish he always acted when the girls were around.
“He is so fucking lucky he is handsome else, I would have put a dent in his face” Sandy groaned but at the same time, reached for the chicken on the plate in front of her.
“You should also add a fantastic cook to that” Ria piped in.
I cleared my throat to get their attention before they began to argue some more and when they started, there was no stopping them.
“First of all, before you try to start killing yourselves, I want to use this opportunity to thank you for making Hazel’s Eyes a success. I won’t say I couldn’t have done it without you cause I would have” I saw Ria roll her eyes but she was smiling so I continued.
“But you made things so much easier for me. It’s not even up to a month since we all met and yet you all put in your very best to help me out and I really really appreciate it.”
“Awwwn, I finally got a thank you for being there. Man, I always wanted to get one of those” Sandy spoke as soon as I ended my long talk.
“How’d you know, girl? I think God sent you to us Hazel, I have always seen those girls on reality tv host their friends and say weird shit and I thought I would never get one because these two certainly won’t do it for me at all” Jenny gestured to Sandy and Ria but Sandy smacked her arms away.
“You see what I am saying, they don’t have a single romantic bone in their body” Jenny sneered at Ria who just stuck her tongue out at her.
“Since these two won’t say it, I will. You honestly turned out to be better than we imagined, you know. At first we thought you would be one of those snobbish kids because you look like one but you aren’t and you are o longer a friend but a sister so you better not do this again because you don’t thank family when they do something for you” Ria said and I didn’t want to tear up because I always do in times like this.
“We also want to meet that Danielle that you won’t shut up about. She sounds like a cool person” Sandy added. I may have talked about Danielle in almost all the conversations that we had.
“I also want you to meet her. You guys would love her I promise. I think she will be back from her trip next week so I’ll invite her over”
“Sounds okay to us” Sandy spoke on behalf of the other two who nodded in agreement.
I had totally abandoned the elite wives or whatever they called themselves since we didn’t even live close to each other anymore and I was glad that Dani didn’t bother to ask me about it or force me to come. I still contributed to whatever projects they had but I didn’t want to see Samantha or any of them again.
I was starting over and I didn’t need trash from the past I was living behind to come with me. I also haven’t felt anyone following me either so I wanted things to remain like this for me.
