Mated To The Devil's Son

Book 2: Chapter 18

Ch. 91 / 125 Feb 08, 2026

I stood outside in the sunny weather as I stared at the fire burning the body to ashes. She could no longer move and had wailed till the fire put her to an everlasting sleep and her body was left to burn into ashes.

She had cried and begged for mercy, but I had just wished she would have accepted her death sooner and saved herself from the torture while dying in peace, but I can't change the way the mind works, but at least she has now found her peace.

I watched as the guards fed the fire with dried branches to make it burn faster while Josh stood beside me. Staring at the burning woman made me feel hope as I realised that I was one step closer to finding Lenora.

"Your highness," Jenny called, as she ran to where I was with her head bowed.

"What is it?" I asked, my eyes still focused on the flames.

"Did Camille confess to kidnapping Lenora?" she asked as I tilted my head to look at her, but she had her head bowed and her gaze fixed on the ground.

Letting out a sigh, I crossed my arms and turned to face Josh, who showed no emotions on his face before turning back to look at Jenny, who was still standing with her head bowed.

"Yes, she did," I replied.

"But did she mention where to find Lenora before you set her ablaze?" she asked again, and I wanted to snap at her, but I understood that she was just being curious and she had been helping me with the search for Lenora, so her asking questions shouldn't be a big deal.

"You don't have to worry about Lenora anymore, Jenny. I have found her and I am keeping her safe for the time being," I answered with a smile on my face. I might have lied about having found Lenora, but I can't let anyone else keep thinking that I am hopeless and I can't let anyone else know my weakness. I have to use my own weakness to my advantage before anybody else does.

If the culprit happens to be in this pack, then they would be petrified on hearing that I have found Lenora and would want to confirm it, but it'll give me an upper hand as I can always track the culprit by keeping records of the ins and outs that happen in this pack.

"Tell the maids to prepare a fine meal; I am hungry," I said to Jenny before walking away from the scene with a smile on my face and with Josh beside me.

"Your highness, why did you tell her that it was Camille in the flames?" Josh asked.

"No one else must know about Camille, and if anyone happens to know, then I'll hold you responsible and you'll be killed." I threatened. I have never done this to him before, but at this point, my enemies could be closer than I thought.

I remembered the look of relief on Camilla's face when she heard me telling Josh to set up a fire, but I had told her that the fire wasn't for her and I wouldn't hurt her. I had thought she might be an enemy, but she happened to be innocent.

"If you don't burn me, then who would be in the flames?" she asked.

"I'll take care of that and you don't need to worry about it. Go find your niece," I said as she nodded her head.

"Thank you so much. I had thought that you wouldn't give me a chance, but I'm glad you still care about me."

"Don't mistake my actions. If necessary, then I wouldn't think twice before killing you and your niece," I said to her as I watched her pupils retract in fear. I am still the devil's son and I will kill whoever dares to step into my path, but this time I'll be more thoughtful but deadly.

Josh had sneaked her out of the pack without anybody suspecting and had replaced her with a prisoner from the dungeon. Her face was covered with rags until she was put into the burning flames; hence, no one would know that it was not Camille. All I had to do now was wait.

"Your highness," Jenny's voice interrupted me from my thoughts as a knock followed immediately after and I could smell another wolf with her, but I also could smell the aroma of food. Ever since Lenora disappeared, I have not eaten a thing and it has made my beast weak, but I might as well have a feast with it to fuel it.

I knew that if I was to wait a little bit longer than this, then my beast would run wild and probably eat as many wolves as it could. I would no longer have control over it until it was filled, but the damage that it would cause would be beyond repair.

"Come in," I said to them, as the door opened and the aroma of the food became stronger, making me almost drool. Before today, the smell of food had always irritated me, but right now, it was the most precious smell and I couldn't wait to devour it.

Immediately the tray of different types of meat was placed on the table. I dug my fork into it, eating like a rogue who had been starved for eternity.

Minutes passed and I requested more trays. At the end of the day, I had eaten over a dozen different trays of food and my beast was finally full and pleased. I could feel the amount of energy rushing through my body as my beast became full. I could smell better as my nostrils were picking up smell from the nearest packs, my ears could hear the tiniest sounds of the movements of ants and my eyes could sight distances more than a binocular. I was back to the way I was and I couldn't be happier knowing that I was physically ready to find Lenora.

After I was done with the food, the maid returned the tray back with her to the kitchen while Jenny stood and waited behind.

I assumed she was cleaning the room and didn't want to bother her as I brought out some paper work that I had abandoned and began going through it, but I suddenly heard her coughing and turned to look at her.

"Why are you still here?" I growled and watched how the smile on her face fell, but she tried to compose herself.

"I thought you might need company..."

"Leave." I shunned her before she could finish her sentence and turned to focus on my work.

"Your highness," she whined, but I pretended not to hear her as I paid no attention to her.

I would have also tortured her and asked some questions about Lenora's whereabouts because I had always sensed some signs of envy in her whenever I was around Lenora, but she was just a pup to me and I've known her since she was little. There was nothing she could do to capture Lenora as she wasn't skilled with martial arts but with kitchen work. She also knows nothing about those symbols that were engraved on the foreheads of the victims and couldn't have planned all of these. She is innocent.

"Please just look at me," she begged as I heaved out a heavy breath and turned the pages of the work I was handling. It was about a group of people that wanted to gain their independence and leave their packs as they believed they had an alpha among them.

There couldn't be two alphas in a pack and their reasons were valid, but there was nothing much that I could do to help them as there was bound to be war between the two alphas. There is no way Alpha would want a group of members to leave without a fight, and it will definitely be bloody.

"Your highness!" Jenny cried as she came to stand in front of me and did the most unbelievable thing by knocking the files I was handling to the ground.

My anger immediately surfaced as I had almost grabbed her by the neck but had to control myself from letting that happen. She was fragile and I might end up hurting her badly with the amount of anger in me.

"What is wrong with you, Jennifer?" I growled at her with my aura as she instantly became submissive, but tears started to stream down her eyes.

"I just want you to notice me," she cried as my brows cocked in confusion but mostly irritation.

"You must be unwell. Go treat yourself in the hospital."

"I mean it, your highness. I want you to notice me because I've been waiting for centuries yet you never look my way," she said as her tears kept flowing down her cheeks. I was offended and was close to laying a slap on her cheeks, but I decided to handle the situation calmly even though I was boiling inside. How dare she say that to me when she knows how I have been suffering to have Lenora back in my arms?

"You're infatuated and you'll pass this stage," I said to her as I reluctantly picked up the files she had knocked to the floor.

"It's been centuries, your highness."

"I have always craved you and walked side by side with you, hoping that one day I'll be bold enough to tell you how I feel about you. Please accept me. "

"I know that you love Lenora, but I promise that I don't mind being a second wife. Just give me a chance. I am willing to do anything for you." She begged as her hands quickly went to her trousers as she reached for her zippers, but I was quick to stop her.

As much as I was disgusted by her acts, I was trying my best to understand that perhaps she was in heat or she was infatuated, but I can't stand her anymore.

"Josh," I called his name, but I didn't need to yell his name as my powers were back and he would hear me even if I whispered his name. In no time, he entered my room and his eyes landed on Jenny, who was amidst tears.

"Take her out of my room and I don't want to see her near me until I call for her." I said to him. He quickly held her hands and dragged her out of the room as I sighed. It was nice to have some peace and quiet.

I turned to the next file and it happened to be a kingdom, consisting of different packs under them, but the members were seeking help as they had lost their king and other kingdoms were planning to strike an attack on them. I turned to look at the name of the kingdom and saw Edessa written on it.

It sounded familiar and I was stuck thinking of how I happened to know their kingdom until I spotted their late king's name and remembered who he was.

Their kingdom don't deserve help as their king had caused chaos while he was alive by attacking other smaller kingdoms and bringing them under him. If they refused, then he would burn their entire kingdom down, but his act wasn't accepted and I killed him after having warned him twice.

I remembered how he used his daughter as a shield from my attack, but I was too fast and had not quickly seen him carrying his daughter to cover him as I accidentally killed her with my claws. The force wasn't strong on her and was a scratch, but my claws were laced with wolf poison and had affected her. Perhaps I should send them some armies as a sacrifice for the death of their daughter.
