Mated To The Devil's Son

Book 2: Chapter 47

Ch. 119 / 125 Feb 08, 2026

Jasmine's Pov

"Why didn't you tell them the truth?" I asked Josh the moment I was able to come face-to-face with him. Ever since Jenny revealed the fact that he helped her, he has been distant and has always been busy with one thing or another, even though no real task has been assigned to him.

I wonder what might be going through that furry head of his; could it be that he is seeking validation from both Alaric and Lenora by overworking himself, or could it be that he is trying his best to cover up for as much work as possible before he gets executed?

After being with Josh for a few months now, I can most definitely tell that the latter is in his head. He doesn't care much about himself when it comes to his loyalty, and that's the reason why he couldn't bring himself to explain that he was blackmailed by Jenny.

Although it is still his fault for choosing the stupid lustful relationship he had with Jenny over his loyalty to his master and his Luna, Lenora.

"I told them the truth," he replied. His eyes were hollow as his gaze was fixed on me.

"You didn't bother to explain yourself to them," I said. I'm waiting for an explanation from him, even though I already know why he didn't do that.

"My reasons are foolish. Jenny wasn't wrong because I knew of her evil plans yet did nothing to stop them. I am no different than the person carrying out the evil plan," he responded. On seeing the pale look on my face, he forcefully curled his lips into a smile of reassurance.

"But you don't have to worry about anything; I promise you everything will be sorted out and I'll be back in your arms once again." He lied. I could see through his obvious lies. He knew that he wasn't going to get out of this mess, yet he's trying to put my mind at ease.

"At this point, you should only worry about yourself and not me," I said, a heavy sigh escaping my lips as I reached for his face with my palm. caressing his hardened cheeks. It's sad how quickly his face aged in less than a day due to all of the thoughts that have been going on in his head and the fact that he knows he's going to die soon.

"Hey, you don't need to be sad or pity me. Even though I've made a terrible mistake in the past, I'm glad for you coming into my life and healing me." He paused, and an awkward chuckle came from his lips.

"I shouldn't be talking like this; I'm sorry. No matter what, I'll come back to you, and you won't need to miss me." He added, taking my hands away from his face as he cupped them in between his hands with a devastating smile on his face.

"Okay"

"I should go now, okay; I'll be right back. I love you," he said. I released my hands from his grip after he planted a last kiss on them and walked away.

I couldn’t bring myself to turn away from his figure as he walked away. There's an ache I feel in my chest, and it aches so much for him; he doesn't deserve this.

After finding out that he was mated to me, he didn't hesitate to prove to me that he loves me, and it was then that I realized that all he sought was to be loved by a lady. He didn't hesitate to confess his dark past to me and promised that he would find a way to atone for his evil deed before he found peace with himself. He confessed to almost killing himself because he was in a tight corner with Jenny and Alaric.

He admitted to mistaking what he had with Jenny for love when it was only lust, as well as his desperate desire for love. I could immediately see the significant change in his life the moment I came into it, and I hoped that he would find Lenora before Alaric could so as to forgive himself, but Alaric found Lenora first.

I eventually found myself loving him, his personality, and his entire state of mind. I would have loved to help him out of this mess he has found himself in, but this isn't the reason why I am here.

"Poor soul." The words left my lips as I watched Josh from afar. If only he hadn't fallen too deep for Jenny's lies, he wouldn't have to be in this dreadful position of losing the trust of the person that he swore his life to serve and blaming himself for everything that happened.

I wish there was something I could do to get him out of this grave he's dug for himself, but there's little to nothing that my powers could do for him. I came here for a single goal and a single person. I came here to direct and guide a single person. The only thing that can save him is if Lenora chooses to forgive him, but with the oath she took for herself, there might be little to no chance that Josh might make it out of this mess alive.

I can't just let him wither away like a leaf off the face of the earth; I need to try to talk to Lenora on his behalf.

"Jasmine, you shouldn't be doing this," I said to myself. Shaking my head with a sigh, I walked away from the pack house in search for Lenora. The only reason I was sent here

I'm delighted to have been chosen by the moon goddess to guide Lenora on her path to understanding who she is. Everything that is currently happening to Lenora has been foreseen by the moon goddess ever since her birth. It has been foreseen that a destructive war would take place between two powerful brothers in this world, and it'll only lead to a blood bath with millions of wolves dying.

The moon goddess felt sorry for the wolves and decided to prevent the war by bringing forth a powerful female wolf who was to bring peace to the world by either bringing peace to the two brothers or annihilating them.

Everything that has happened right from her birth wasn't an incident, and the moon goddess knew she was bound to face some hard challenges that would build her and make her stronger. To the moon goddess, she believes that a person would only be determined if they had a goal; hence, she made Lenora's goal the goal to find happiness.

Her meeting with Jenny was also planned because it was the only way for Lenora to figure out who Anselm was before the war and prepare for it. But Jenny was the most interesting part of it all because I enjoyed torturing her for daring to be the villain in Lenora's life and inflicting so much pain on her. I was sent here to guide and direct Lenora, but I don't mind taking upon myself some side quests of dealing with those who dare to harm her. Not only will I guide and direct her, but I will also protect her.

Everything that happened and brought Alaric to Lenora wasn't an incident; it was the will of the moon goddess for her to bring peace to Alaric, and she did a good job with that despite not being able to access a tenth of her powers. Right now, she believes Anselm is the most powerful creature on the planet, but only if she knows she possesses almost the same powers as the moon goddess. She's practically the moon goddess's daughter. The only significant difference is the fact that she's mortal and can die.

I can't wait for the time when she figures out what she truly is capable of doing and makes a decision to either bring peace to the two brothers or eliminate Anselm. She would never abandon Alaric because she loves him. Although I wish there would be peace between both brothers because neither deserves to die, if they do not want to resort to peace, then Lenora would have to get rid of Anselm.

I wish I could let her know everything ahead of time, but I am only a messenger and can only guide her toward knowing her full potential without interrupting the process by telling her how much power she possesses. This will only make her even more confused; otherwise, she is stable enough to know about herself.

Another rule that was given to me was that I couldn't be distracted, but how was that supposed to be possible when the moon goddess herself had to match me with one of the kindest souls I have ever met?

I have always lived without breaking any rules or going against the moon goddess, but at this point, I can't help but save Josh from this ill fate. He already realizes and acknowledges his mistake; he shouldn't die.

I could perceive her smell getting stronger than before and realized I was getting close to finding her. Her scent was coming from the garden's direction, so I headed there without wasting any time. The night had come, and the sky was painted with a dark blue hue while the moon stood pretty above the ground. Little stars surrounded the moon, and all of a sudden, it felt like my friends above were judging me for my decision.

I'm not the one to blame for the moon goddess matching one of her messengers with a kind, handsome, and particularly hot Lycan.

"There she is," I said to myself as I spotted her walking beautifully and gracefully through the garden. A man was behind her; he wasn't Alaric, and he seemed like a companion.

It took a while for me to remember him, but I've noticed him around the castle, and he was the one who accompanied Lenora as she returned to the pack house. His name is Simon.

I continued on my steps as I walked towards Lenora, but with every step that I took, my pace became slower as I took my time studying Simon. There is something wrong with him, and I can sense the fur on my skin standing. What I don't understand is why I sensed a threat from him when he was only walking peacefully behind Lenora.

I decided to ignore the threat I was getting from him as he looked so peaceful; there can't be any harm that he would do, and he doesn't look like he's in his best state of health.

Just as I decided to move on, Simon suddenly stopped on his track as he clenched tight onto his head in silence; his eyes were shut tight, and his body was becoming even more tense.

"What is wrong with him?" I asked myself as I took it upon myself to increase my pace and get to him quickly; he seemed to be in need of help. But just as I was about to get to him, I felt his aura change; darkness enveloped him, leaving absolutely no light behind as he suddenly threw himself up in the sky with his claws aimed at Lenora.

"Is he out of his mind?" I shrieked as my speed increased, and in no time, I found myself pinning him to the ground with my fierce eyes burning into his soul. How dare he think of attacking Lenora?

"What the hell are you doing?" I roared in his face; it only took a couple of seconds for the contact between us to be effective, as his memories immediately played in my head in a flash.

"Jasmine?" Lenora called in shock. I must have startled her by coming out of nowhere and pouncing on Simon, but the memories that had just played in my head were leaving me too startled and stunned to speak or reply to Lenora.

"Thank you," he muttered, his lips curling into a smile as tears piled up in his eyes before streaming down his cheeks. He made no attempt to get up from the floor, as he only laid there hopelessly, while I also stared at him in shock with my body pinning his body to the ground.

What the hell has he done to himself?
