Mated To The Devil's Son

Book 2: Chapter 23

Ch. 96 / 125 Feb 08, 2026

Lenora's POV

The ache in my head wouldn't stop hurting as I clenched on the sheets of the bed while groaning in pain. It felt as if it was too heavy for my neck, and I thought it might just explode with the constant throbbing and pounding in it.

"Dang it," I groaned and cursed as I tried to settle into a single position, hoping that perhaps the ache would stop hurting so badly.

After some seconds of settling into a single position, the throbbing ache in my head finally settled and I could hear other sounds but the pounding of my head. My eyes slowly fluttered open as I welcomed the day light into my eyes, but it didn't take me a lot of time to realise that I wasn't in my room.

Without thinking it through, I jumped from the bed, but immediately regretted it as the throbbing ache and pounding sounds returned to my head.

"You are awake." A sweet familiar voice called out to me as I recognised it as being Skye's voice.

I could feel her movement around the room and I could feel her presence right in front of me, but the pain in my head wouldn't permit me to open my eyes to look at her.

"Take this; it should help with the pain in your head." She said as she placed a metallic like bottle in my mouth. I debated on whether or not to accept it as I remembered the incident with my mother, but right now, I'll take anything as long as it gets rid of what I'm feeling at the moment.

"Thank you," I said after gulping down all of the liquid in the bottle. It tasted quite better than I had imagined, and it wasn't hard to drink all at once.

Just like magic, the pain in my head vanished in no time as I opened my eyes to look at her and was welcomed by her warm smile as she walked towards the table at the centre of her room and placed the empty bottle on it.

Now I know why I was quick to tell the difference between my room and hers. Rather than my plain coloured room, hers was a bright blue colour with a lot of flower pots with seaweed and vines in it. She had a huge painting of a shark on the wall right in front of the bed and two large fish tanks. It was easy to tell what she liked by the look of her room.

"Do you feel any better?" She asked as I hummed a response to her, but the bright look in her eyes immediately changed to pity as she cupped my cheeks in her hands.

"I'm so sorry about yesterday night," she said, as memories from last night immediately flashed through my mind and I cringed. I was glad Simon was able to help me out, as I didn't want to think about what would have happened without him helping me right on time. I guess that's how I landed myself in Skye's room.

"I'd rather not talk about it," I said with a soft chuckle to sound polite to her. I was glad she understood and respected my decision as we switched topics and talked about other things that made both of us laugh until we heard a knock on the door.

"Ugh... what does he want?" She murmured after picking up the scent of who was behind the door, and it turned out to be Holland. I also wasn't sure if I wanted to see him after the drastic decision he made last night.

Knock knock

He knocked again, but this time his knock was more aggressive than the first, but by looking at Skye, I knew he was just going to get tired of knocking as she wasn't going to let him in.

"Skye, it's me," he said from behind the door as he knocked again.

"I know, leave." She flatly responded.

"You're disrespecting me."

"Go find your respect elsewhere and not in my room, you asshole." She yelled. At this point, I was trying hard not to laugh out loud. The silence that came from him after she called him an asshole was definitely loud. I hate the fact that he reminds me a lot of Asher and how blind I was to see that he was just an arrogant asshole.

"I'm sorry, can you just let me talk to Addison?" He apologised as my jaw dropped. Not only was he apologising to Skye, but he knew that I was in the room and was apologising regardless of tarnishing his arrogant status.

"Why do you want to talk to her? So you could tell her to lick your ass at the wedding? " Skye replied. I could tell that she was really mad at Holland as her brows creased. It was kind of her to be supportive of me even though she hasn't known me for a long time.

"No…" He replied with a sigh.

"I just want to know if she's doing okay." He added, as her brows smoothened. She was debating on whether or not to believe him and let him in, but she chose to believe him as she stood up from the bed and went to open the door for him.

He had not expected Skye to open the door, as he looked shocked but immediately changed his expression as his eyes locked on mine. I could say that since I came to this place, this was the first time he looked at me without disgust written all over his face.

"Are you okay?" He asked,

"Yes," I replied, as the room became quiet.

"Addison, look, I'm honestly sorry for the way that I have treated you and I hope that you will forgive me." He apologised as a smirk formed at the corner of my lips. Never had I thought that the spoilt brat could one day come to his senses, but I guess this is a good thing. He wouldn't make things hard for me anymore, and my plan for reaching Alaric could just work after all.

"I know you probably hate me..."

"We do." Skye cut him off before he could finish his sentence, but by the look on her face, I could tell that she was no longer upset but was proud of her brother.

"I swear, I'm really sorry, and I won't make any more decisions that concern you without your permission," Holland promised, as a satisfied smile appeared on my face. The moon goddess definitely knows how to work her way around things. Perhaps last night's incident was a blessing in disguise, even though I am still cringing at the thought of the man almost having his way with me.

"It's fine, we don't have anything against you anymore," I replied.

"Speak for yourself," Skye murmurs, but the smile on her face said otherwise.

"I know you might be scared to sleep alone, and I told the king that I would be sleeping in your room till you're free to be alone," Holland said as my smile dropped.

"Why?"

"To protect you," he responded, but how was I supposed to tell him that we're not that cool to the point of sleeping in the same room?

"You don't need to," I said, rushing my words with an awkward smile on my face.

"It's my duty," he replied, but all attention suddenly shifted to Simon, who had walked into the room with the door still open. He was looking really tired and stressed as his eyes were heavy with eye bags and dark circles. It looked as if he hadn't had enough sleep and needed rest.

"I came to check on Addison," he said, as he awkwardly let out a cough. Our stares were probably discomforting him.

"I'm fine. Thank you for everything. " I said, meaning every word. Without his help, then the moon goddess only knows what might have become of me.

"You're welcome." He responded with a smile, as we were both quiet. I don't know why things were awkward between us and I don't know why we were both quiet after I embarrassed myself by crying on his chest last night and probably after seeing me in that position last night, but then one thing I knew was that we were being watched by the two people in the room.

"Holland will be sleeping in Addison's rooms starting today." Skye blurted out as Simon muttered an "oh."

"He said he's going to be the one to protect her, so you don't have to worry anymore." She added without anyone asking and by the tone of her voice and the awkward look she gave me after, I knew something was up with her, but I don't know what it is.

"Okay then, your door is fixed," Simon awkwardly said as he pointed outside the door while his gaze was fixed on me.

"Thank you," I said, but even I wasn't comfortable in this room anymore. The moment he left the room, I could feel the atmosphere in the room changing and it wasn't that bright one anymore. For some reason, I could feel anger coming from Skye's aura, but what could have happened so quickly to change her mood?

"I'll be with you in your room tonight," Holland said before he also walked out, leaving just me and Skye in the room, but she wasn't talking anymore.

"I guess I should go and take my bath now, it's been a long night," I said with a chuckle and a smile, but she only replied with a hum and didn't bother to look at me as I left her room.

"Stay away from him, you bitch," she murmured, but I had heard her before leaving the room as my brows furrowed in confusion.
