She couldn't resist the compulsion to leave the room, so she scurried out of the room in fear, leaving just Alaric and me as he still stared at me with his eyes wide open from shock but also amusement. He has never seen me take out my anger like this except for the one time that I did it with the devil when he tried to kill Alaric, but that only happened because Alaric was in a critical condition.
My powers seem to have returned well, and they're not as heavily dependent on Alaric anymore.
"Why did I let her leave without ripping her eyes out?" I asked myself, fuming with my hands balled into a fist. Her presence in the room has irritated me, and I wish I had not met her or smelled her. Her smell was still too strong for me in the room, and there was no way I would be able to stay a minute here without losing my mind or puking all over the floor. I wish the ceiling fan would have fallen on her.
Without reaching out to Alaric, I turned my back to leave the room, but he was faster, as he gently grabbed me by my waist.
"You're upset, my love." He said, his voice and words seemed to have a magical cooling effect on me as my temper slowly decreased.
"I just don't wish to see that wench anywhere near you or me," I replied.
There won't be a long time for her to be here either way, because I'm not letting this day pass by without inflicting the worst pain on her until she begs for death. I'm most assured that she was the one who planned to get rid of me with the demon prince; there was no way he would have done it alone without someone from the inside, and undoubtedly, Jenny would do anything to get me far away from Alaric.
"Tell me what she did, and I'll make sure she gets the punishment she deserves," Alaric asked.
It took a while for me to provide him with an answer because I doubted what the outcome might be. I might have a short temper around Jenny, but Alaric, on the other hand, has a shorter temper whenever he's provoked. If I tell him the truth about Jenny and her relationship with the demon prince, then she won't last to see another hour of the day before being killed by Alaric. I don't want her to die just yet until she gives us a lot of information about the demon prince. She should be useful at least once in her life.
Moreover, I want to be the one to inflict the most pain on her and watch her wither away like ashes on the ground. I just hope she confesses sooner because my patience with her is as thin as paper.
"If she wronged me, then I should be the one to decide what her punishment will be," I answered.
"Do as you please, my queen," he replied with a slight smile on his face.
"But I have a condition," he said quickly.
"What's that?" I asked.
"It should be after the feast; you shouldn't stress yourself before the feast," he answered. I knew he was probably looking out for my safety and health, but until I do something terrible to Jenny, I will not rest.
"What if she runs away?" I asked.
"She won't," he replied without hesitating, but my mind still wasn't settled. I need to make sure she doesn't run away myself, and then after the feast, I'll do as I please with her until she tells me the truth about the demon prince; only then will I kill her.
"I need to make sure of it," I said, walking out of the room without turning back. I could hear Alaric's footsteps following me behind, but he didn't say a word as he let me do what I wanted to do.
On an average day, I would have taken some guards with me to drag her out of her room and throw her into the cell, but there's no satisfaction in that as they would be the ones inflicting all the pain and not me, so I went alone, with Alaric walking slowly behind me and with my unborn baby.
Jenny should pay for taking almost all of its months and making us spend them running from one place to another, fighting for our lives.
"Jennifer!" I growled upon getting to her room. I could tell she was present in the room, and suddenly the smell of her fear filled my senses as it tucked a smile on the corner of my lips.
"Don't make me call twice," I ordered. Immediately, the door knob turned as it opened, revealing that evil face of hers that I will make even worse soon. Slowly, she opened the door wide, revealing her body.
My eyes caught her stomach, as I could definitely tell that it had grown and was due to pregnancy. She definitely has a child in her, but that isn't going to stop me from giving her what she deserves. The child, on the other hand, might be considered or allowed to suffer the same ill fate as its mother. The decision will be up to me to make.
"Your highness," she mumbled, her eyes fixed on her shoes as her body shook. She knows the evil things she has done, because why else will she tremble before me?
"How dare you think of abducting me?" I asked with a scoff as I lowered my tone to prevent Alaric from hearing me. With time, he'll know the truth about this wrecked wench, but I want her to be the one to confess her evil acts herself.
"I would never do that, your highness..." She tried to lie, but before she could finish her last word, I landed a resounding slap on her face as she stared at me in shock. Her staring at me irritated me even more, so I slapped her again.
My beast was excited and pleased with me, and so was I. The old and naive me would have let her go for hurting me or forgiven her, but after the pain and suffering she put both me and my baby through, there was no way I was going to let her go free.
"You evil hag," I growled as another slap landed on her face.
"Lenora, please be careful," Alaric said from afar as I turned to look at him. Through his facial expression, I could tell that he had no intention of stopping me but was only concerned for my health.
"Your highness" A feminine voice called as I shifted my gaze away from Alaric to the smaller body that stood behind him. Her lips curled into a smile on seeing me, and her brown eyes glowed. She held a bottle covered with a cloth in her hands.
"Greetings, your majesty." She greeted Alaric with a bow before walking past him as she walked closer to me. I had a perplexed look on my face as she walked closer to me. She's new, and I've never seen her before, but it seems like Alaric knows her because he let her walk close to me.
"Jasmine, why are you here?" Alaric asked, staring at her with a side eye.
"I figured her majesty would need this in dealing with the hag before her," she said with a slight bow as she stretched forth the bottle in her hands.
"It's concentrated wolfsbane." "It'll prevent her from using a muscle while you lock her up in the cell," she said, causing my brows to furrow in surprise. Apparently I'm not the only one who can't stand Jenny.
"Why are you giving this to me?" I asked.
"It'll only be fair to give her a taste of her own medicine and revenge for the harm she has caused you right from the start."
"You can start with this wolfsbane, since that's what she used on you at first," she added as my lips parted in surprise and the realization dawned on me.
"What are you talking about?" Alaric asked Jasmine.
It all made sense to me. I used to trust Jenny and would eat from the plate she cooked for me. I thought my mother and sister had found a way to poison every food that I ate, but it was only possible because Jenny helped them. The moment I started to eat from her plate was the moment I realized that I was weaker. She must have used a lot of wolfsbane on me; she wasn't planning on making me weak; rather, she wanted me dead.
The anger that I once felt on seeing her resurfaced as I found myself resisting the urge to kill her right on the spot. If I remain in her presence for a second longer, then I will lose it. I won't be able to get the truth about the demon prince, and she'll die as a waste, but at this point, I badly want her to die as a waste.
"Jasmine, make sure she's locked up, and use every single drop of that wolfsbane on her," I ordered.
"I'll gladly do that, your highness," she replied with a bow as I walked away from Jenny. I'm sure Alaric wants answers to the questions that cloud his mind, and I'll give him every single answer he wants from me.
