Victoria's POV
''I can't do that, I don't wanna get into trouble with the Alpha.'' The guard grumbled while lavishly shaking his Head.
''Please, you are my last hope, I beg of you,''I begged as I felt my heart racing with fear.
The guard was silent for a moment, deliberating if he should heed to my request or not.
''Please help me,'' I begged
Nonchalantly, the guard nodded his head and spoke up
''Just this once…'' I did not let him finish before I cut in.
''Thank you, I will forever be grateful.'' He gave me a quizzical glance before walking away.
Sighing heavily, I leaned my head on the wall and prayed everything worked out just fine.
Lazily, I slide on the floor while my back rested on the wall with my knees pulled to my chest as I inhaled and exhaled.
Inside, this cell was freaking cold, and I wasn't putting on a thick clothes to help with the cold.
Tiredly, I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep, hoping that when I wake up, all this will all be a dream.
''Vicky.'' I heard a familiar voice in my sleep, and quickly I opened my eyes and moved my gaze to my cell gate, only to see the person I've been wanting to see.
Quickly, I stood up from the cold floor and rushed to my cell gate.
''Damn, what happened?'' Clinton asked, as concern printed on his face.
Slowly, I shook my head and gulped in tears as I became speechless and didn't know what to say.
''Calm down, it's okay, I'm here, nothing will happen to you.'' He brought forth his hand and ran his index finger on my cheek in a manner to comfort me.
I closed my eyes and sighed in relief at the warmth of his fingers.
''What happened?'' He asked
''I don't know, believe me I have no idea.'' I whimpered in tears.
''Shuu, it's okay, don't cry, you know how much I hate seeing you cry.'' He wiped off the tears from my cheek with the back of his two fingers, which could penetrate through the cell gate.
I took in a deep breath and tried to keep my emotions at bay.
''Now tell me what happen,'' Clinton urged
I wanted to open my mouth and tell him everything, but then I remembered alpha Derick's threat and withheld my word.
''Come on Vicky, you know you can tell me everything,'' He pleaded
Slowly, I nodded my head and took in a deep breath
''I was accused of using spell and charms on alpha Derick,'' I whispered.
''That's ridiculous.'' Clinton grumbled
''Who accused you of such lies?'' He asked in annoyance
''Alpha Derick, he said I'm practicing charms and spell on him, but you know me Derick, I can't do that. Why should I do that?'' I mumbled in tears.
''It's okay, stop crying,'' He responded.
I shook my head and let the tears fell freely on my cheek.
''You don't get it, Clinton. He has ordered for me to be stoned to death the day after tomorrow.''
''That will not happen.'' I noticed the color of Clinton's eyes changed, but he quickly closed his eyes for a while before he opened them.
''I'm a latanith, and I will call for other lataniths to look into your case. He can't pass judgement on you without a trial,'' Clinton assured me.
''Thank you, I know I could always count on you.'' He flashed me an encouraging smile before running the tips of his fingers on my cheek.
''You are injured.'' I nodded my head at his words while I showed him my feet.
I watched him, closed his eyes, took in a deep breath, and the wound vanished.
''You will be fine.'' He opened his eyes and I met eyes with him.
I could see how worried and concerned he was for me, and I felt lucky to have such a friend as him.
''My time is limited here, I have to go, but as I leave here, I'm going to work on your trial and probably release.'' I responded with my head when I realized I was too weak to speak.
''Take care of yourself.'' He took his fingers off my cheek, stared at me for a moment before leaving.
Sighing heavily, I turned around and rested my back on the cell gate while my thought drifted to many things.
''He really likes you, is that your mate?'' The lady, whose cell was opposite mine, spoke up from inside the darkened room.
Slowly, I shook my head in reply
I heard footsteps and noticed she was standing in front of her cell gate.
''You are not marked.''
I turned around and faced her, but didn't say a word
''You don't have a mate yet.'' she said those Words in disbelief
I responded by nodding my head
She scoffed and chuckled loudly, like I just said something stupid
''That's impossible, you have a mate and I can feel him around you,'' She muttered out, while running her eyes all over me.
Ignoring her, I turned around and sat on the cold ground.
We were both silent for a while before she spoke up
''I never knew your alpha could be so stupid.'' she snickered and shook her head
''Mere looking at you, one could tell you can't even hurt a fly.'' She scoffed and laughed again.
''He must really despise you, to pass just cruel judgement on you,'' She muttered out with pity.
Hearing those words from her, I smiled bitterly, but didn't say a word.
I noticed she walked back into her cell while I Just sat on the cold floor playing the events of the past few days in my head.
I heard heavy footsteps walking towards the direction of my cell, and curiously I look through the direction only to see mother walking toward my cell.
''Mother.'' I jumped to my feet, as my heart went at ease.
''What did you do this time, Vicky?'' That was the first thing that left her mouth the moment she got to my cell.
The look on her face wasn't the look I was expecting from her. I thought she would be worried about me, but the look on her face was that of anger and hatred, which confuses me.
''Mother…'' I called out to her, but she interrupted me with her left palm
''Hold it there Vicky, what have you done, why do you keep humiliating me, making me the topic of the town.'' She yelled in rage.
''I did nothing, mother, you know me.'' I begged in tears
''You still haven't answered my question. What did you do?'' She asked impatiently
''I did nothing.''
''Then why are you here, why were you dragged out of the quarters like a criminal.'' She demanded angrily.
I swallowed in pains as I felt my heart clamping in pains, this wasn't the reaction I was expecting from mother.
''Victoria, you better start talking or else I'll let you rot here.'' She threatened
''Alpha Derick accused me of using spell and charms on him.'' I sniffle in tears,
Mother was quiet for a while before she spoke up
''Did you do it?'' She asked while she stared at me with a questioning look, a look that say she doubts if I was innocent.
''How can you ask such questions mother, you know me mother, you know I can't do such a thing.'' I replied in tears, but also in anger.
''I don't know you Vicky, I left you with your dad when you were ten years old and only met you again when you were seventeen, so I don't know what you can do and what you can't do.''
''Mother.'' I called out in disbelief as I felt my heart clenched in pain.
Hearing those words from her was more heartbreaking than the accusations levelled against me.
Disappointed at her, I shook my head and wondered if she would say the same thing If I had my wolf and mate.
I swallowed the pain in my heart and took in a deep breath before I spoke up
''I want to speak with father.''
''I can't let you do that. If he knows you are in this situation, he will rush down here and that might be risky for him,'' She replied In a firm voice.
''So, what will you do, you have to tell him.''
''I can't Vicky, I have to go, let me see if I can ask for help from a few people.''without looking my way, she turned around and walked away.
I felt my heart clenched in pains and tears fell freely on my cheek, but I quickly wipe it off.
The lady in the opposite cell looked at me with pity as she stood before her cell gate.
''You know when my mom visited me for the first time, the first thing that came out of her mouth was she asking if I was okay or hurt. Wolf or no wolf, a child's welfare comes first, that's the attribute of a mother, are you sure she is your mom.'' She asked with disbelief.
''I doubt,'' I murmured in pains.
