His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 226

Ch. 226 / 264 Apr 07, 2026

Connor shook his head and smiled, "It's easy. If a man is interested in a woman, after they meet for the first time, she will make some kind of impression on him more or less. Yet Zachary didn't remember Sara at all."

"It makes sense. After all, Zachary didn't know that I was going to introduce Sara to him," said Annette, shaking her head. "I wasn't planning on doing so back then either. I only asked Sara to get Zachary for me to avoid his ex-girlfriend. It was just a coincidence. I didn't expect it to become an opportunity for them to meet."

Connor nodded. "And Sara fell in love with Zachary at first sight, didn't she?"

  Annette smiled and said, "Yes."

"Yet in Zachary's eyes, it was just a thing that happened on that day. It may not be an easy thing to match them."

"But I really want Zachary and Sara to be together. After all, both of them are nice people."

"Sometimes the scariest thing is a marriage between two nice people."

Annette said unhappily, "You better stop talking."

"You were the one who asked me for my opinion."

"Anyway, I just think that Zachary and Sara are perfect for each other."

"I hope that they can be a couple, too."

His sudden change of heart caught her off guard.

"After all, as long as Zachary remains single, I feel insecure," he said.

Annette gritted her teeth and thought, 'You just don't believe me, do you? You nasty bastard.'

She picked up the spoon and started eating.

Connor moved toward her and sat down next to the bed.

Annette glared at him and said, "I thought you hated William's cooking."

"Didn't you invite me to have lunch with you just now?"

  "Did I?"

Connor snorted and thought, 'You want to deny it?'

He repeated her words, "He skipped today's breakfast, waiting to share my lunch."

Annette picked up a piece of bread and stuffed it into his mouth. "Stop talking. Just eat."

  Connor felt sweet deep down.

Connor said, "I suggest you not make a promise to Sara regarding this matter. You may have the best of intentions, but when it comes to such things, the greater the hope, the greater the disappointment."

Annette unhappily said, "Can you just say something nice?"

Connor said calmly, "Of course, I can, but I don't want to lie to you, and the least I want is for you to get upset with someone you care about because of your good intentions."

"You really don't think they'll become a couple?"

For some reason, Annette had a feeling that Connor was often right if he gave his opinion.

Seeing the disappointment on her face, Connor's heart softened. He said, "It's not like that. I only saw the two showing up together once. Besides, I don't know either of them well. I won't jump to conclusions abruptly regarding things I'm not sure of. I ask you not to get your hopes up, because I don't want you to be upset in the future whether things work out or not."

His words made Annette feel much better.

Annette nodded. Connor handed her a glass of milk and said, "Stay positive. Bless them if things between them work out, and don't get frustrated otherwise."

  Annette looked at him.

Connor raised the corners of his mouth and asked, "So? Don't you agree with me?"

Annette shook her head. "I just think that you are indeed eloquent."

"It's a very down-to-earth problem. It is only sensible to think of both good and bad outcomes."

  Connor snorted unhappily.

Annette put down her spoon and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

"You cared a lot about the people around you except for me. Don't I deserve your attention too?"

Annette wanted to object, but at the same time, she felt a little guilty.

Connor was so nice to her. Compared with what he did for her, there was so little she could do for him, but what she could give him was the most precious thing she had.

However, no matter how nice he was to her, the fact was still the fact. Alina was like a thorn in their relationship. And she wouldn't let go of either Lucas or Connor.

Things between the three were complicated, and now Annette was in the picture, too.

  Annette felt she was redundant.

However, she was the reason for this conflict and she actually hated herself the most.

Annette knew Connor's feelings for Alina from the very beginning.

She failed to control her emotions and fell for him.

She did not speak for a long time, and she looked serious. Connor could not help but ask, "Why have you stopped talking again? Is it that hard for you to spare me some of your love?"

Annette looked into his eyes. She said, "Yes. It's very hard. And it might be harder in the future. That's why I'm telling you to back off. Don't let yourself be treated unfairly in a world that doesn't belong to you."

Hearing her words, Connor asked, "Do you know my world well?"

  Annette did not speak.

Connor continued, "If you do, then you should know that there is no hiding or walking away in my world. I learned since I was a kid to take the bull by the horns."

Annette looked at him and had mixed feelings, but she didn't know what to say.

For now, she couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't.

Therefore, she needed to calm down, and she needed time to think.

Yet he didn't seem to want to give her time to think it through.

She remained silent. Not hearing any words from her, Connor said, "Annette, don't think that you can make me give up on you by saying these harsh words to me. Now that I've said I want to be with you forever, you can't run away whatsoever. I am a selfish man, so I don't care what others want. Even if you don't love me, I will never let you go."

"But don't you think it will be awkward for me to stay in the Blood Moon Pack? I know the things between you and Alina, and they all know that I am Lance's daughter."

"What's wrong with that? It doesn't matter who you are. You're the woman I want, and that's all it matters. Stop overthinking. Just eat. You have to take good care of yourself and stay with me."

Annette looked at him, and she was at a loss.

She thought, 'Are we really in the middle of a fight?

Why do I feel that he is more clingy and unreasonable than ever?'

About an hour later, Sara called Annette.

  "Annette, I'm at school."

Annette asked curiously, "How did it go? Did Zachary send you back?"

  "Yes."

"Well? Did you have a nice chat?"

Sara was a composed young woman, but today she sounded a little excited and was chatty.

"I guess Mr. Joseph is the silent type, but he is a gentleman indeed. He answered all my questions. After dinner, he drove me back to school since I didn't have a car."

Annette said happily, "Alright then. How did you feel after having dinner with him?"

Sara said a bit shyly, "To be honest, I think I like him even more."

Annette nodded and asked, "Did you talk about things about relationships today?"

"No. I figure that these things take time."

Annette nodded. "Sara, you are so rational when it comes to relationships."

"In fact, I'm already fantasizing about our wedding."

  Annette couldn't help but laugh.

"I'll invite you to a meal when I'm discharged, and I'll make sure he is here, too."

  "Annette, you are the best."
