Zachary and Sara kept walking for a while. They breathed a sigh of relief since Jennifer didn't run after them.
He turned to Sara and said guiltily, "How's your face? Does it hurt?"
Sara raised her hand to cover her face and shook her head. "It's okay. Mr. Joseph, now, do you understand why I insisted on having you come here to act with me."
"I would have stayed away from you if I knew I would put you through this." Zachary sighed.
"In fact, you did well just now. You were aware that she might be watching you and tried to avoid me. Can you really stand a life like this? Why are you not allowed to talk to women? Why make your life so humble? You're like standing on the edge of a cliff, and if you don't make any changes, Jennifer will drive you crazy. You two were once in love, and it shouldn't end up this way."
Zachary kept silent.
Sara continued, "Don't worry. I asked you to act along with me. No matter how it ends, I'll take the responsibility, and you don't have to put yourself under too much pressure. It is not that I have to be with you. As long as Jennifer is out of the picture, you can ask me to leave at any time, and I'll be cool with it."
After that, Sara raised her wrist to check the time and said, "I should go back to work now. Mr. Joseph, goodbye."
She turned around and ran quickly toward the west gate of the school.
Zachary watched Sara leave, and he wasn't sure if he made the right decision.
He was worried that he would drag Sara down.
However, he agreed to pretend to be Sara's boyfriend, so he had to take it one step at a time.
Sara returned to the office and was somehow still in shock.
Annette asked how things were going. Sara pulled Annette outside the office and told her what had just happened.
Annette was impressed and gave her a thumbs up. "Well, I've underestimated you. I never knew that you were such a tough girl."
Sara pressed her hand against her chest and said, "You have no idea how embarrassed I was just now. Mr. Joseph refused me, yet I still asked him to act as my boyfriend. Annette, am I a shameless woman?"
"No, you're not. You're doing the right thing to pursue your happiness."
As Annette spoke, she saw the red mark on Sara's left cheek.
She furrowed her brow and asked, "What happened?"
Sara raised her hand to cover her cheek. Just now, she did not mention that Jennifer slapped her.
Annette exclaimed, "Did Jennifer slap you?"
"It's okay. Only once. Mr. Joseph stopped her in time."
Annette never liked Jennifer, but she didn't think that Jennifer was a psycho.
In the afternoon, Annette and Sara got off work. Just as they walked to the school gate, Jennifer blocked Sara's way since she was still mad about the issue at lunchtime.
Annette stood protectively in front of Sara with a cold expression and said, "Jennifer, what's the matter with you?"
Jennifer ignored Annette and said to Sara, "I went through the toughest time with Zachary. It was four years! He promised me that he would only marry me."
Sara said sensibly, "Well, people make promises when they are in love."
"If you didn't show up, sooner or later, Zachary would come back to me."
Sara looked at Jennifer and furrowed. "So your way of making him change his mind was to force him to stay away from all other women?"
Annette also said, "Jennifer, that's sick, OK? And you're like a crazy woman. Do you think any man would want to marry a woman like you? Unless he's crazy too."
Jennifer glared at Annette and said, "Annette, don't think that just because you're Alpha Connor's woman, you can do whatever you want. This is about me, Zachary, and Sara, so, stay out of it. Sara took away my man, so I made her lose her job. What's wrong with that?"
"You were right about one thing. I am Connor's woman, so even if you made a scene, I could still keep Sara's job. In the end, the only one who would be embarrassed is you."
Jennifer raised her chin and said, "Don't push me."
Sara grabbed Annette's arm and said, "Forget it, Annette. Don't argue with her. It's impossible to reason with someone like her."
Annette pulled Sara into her car and had Leonard send Sara home before returning to the Blood Moon Pack.
Connor had returned. Seeing that Annette came back late, he pretended to be angry and asked, "You're home late today. Why?"
Annette checked the time and said, "Not that late."
"You are forty minutes late, okay? Should I set a time for the latest hour to get home?
Annette pouted. "So? At 5 p.m.? Are you kidding me?"
As she was speaking, she went upstairs to change her clothes.
Connor tagged along.
Annette had just entered the cloakroom when Connor pushed the door and walked in.
Annette stopped undressing and turned to him. "I need to change my clothes."
Connor leaned against the door and looked at her. "Go ahead. I didn't stop you."
Annette stepped forward and pushed him out of the cloakroom. She blushed and said, "Not with you here."
She closed the door, locked it, and quickly got changed.
Connor leaned against the wall next to the door.
As soon as Annette went out, he grabbed her.
Annette was pulled into Connor's arms.
She blushed and said, "What are you doing? Let go of me."
Connor carried Annette to the bedside and then pressed himself on her.
Annette exclaimed anxiously, "I am pregnant."
Connor knew that she had been using it as an excuse.
Recently, he had been restraining himself. He didn't even dare to kiss her, afraid that he might not be able to hold it on.
He couldn't endure it anymore and called the doctor. Then, he found out that having sex during pregnancy was fine.
So, on the way back today, Connor was eager to pin her on their bed.
Moreover, once he had such a thought, he couldn't help but keep thinking about it.
Annette found Connor a bit strange today.
She tried her best and pushed him away.
She gasped and said, "Connor, what are you doing?"
Connor whispered in Annette's ear, "I've checked with the doctor. We can do it. I just need to be more gentle."
Annette's guess was right.
Annette shrank back from Connor and placed her hands on his shoulders. "No. Have you forgotten who caused me to bleed last time?"
"Last time I was driven crazy by you, so I wasn't gentle enough. This time, I will be careful, I promise."
Annette stared at him and said firmly, "I said no."
Connor complained, "Why are you so ruthless to me? I am your mate."
Annette glared at him and said, "If you keep messing around, I will go back to the apartment."
Connor smirked and said, "If you did, I would follow you there. I won't give up."
"Connor," Annette felt helpless.
Connor looked at her expression, feeling a bit annoyed, but he couldn't force her.
He gave up and turned over to keep a distance from her.
"When you want to have sex with me, you only have to drink a glass of wine. But when I want to sleep with you, it's simply impossible. You rejected me again and again. Don't you love me?"
Annette pouted and sat up. "You're finally realizing it now."
Connor was not satisfied and pushed her down again. He kissed her for a long time before releasing her and said fiercely, "I'll give you one more chance. Tell me the reason."
Annette furrowed her brow.
"Do not refuse to answer."
Annette sat up again, her face turning red as she said, "I was scared, okay?"
She finished her words and then got out of bed.
Connor pulled her and asked, "What are you afraid of? Are you afraid that I will abandon you?"
Annette looked at him sheepishly and averted her gaze quickly, saying, "I'm afraid of pain."
With that, she shook off his hand and ran out.
Connor couldn't help but feel both amused and frustrated.
The very thing he was proud of became a major obstacle to enjoying his sex life.
