Alina waited for Connor in the garden.
When she saw Connor, there was a smile on her face. She said, "Connor, you came."
Connor looked at her with a cold face.
With that expression, Alina knew why he was here.
But she still smiled and pretended to know nothing. "Connor, have a seat."
"I won't stay for long", Connor said coldly. "I'm only here to tell you that you should mind your own business."
"What do you mean?" Alina looked sad.
"Your relationship with Lucas was a mess. So you should clean up your own mess before poking your nose into other people's business."
"I didn't say those things because of her, I said them because of you…"
Connor interrupted Alina, "If that's the case, then you should shut up. You should care more about Lucas."
Alina sighed, "When did you start caring about what others think?"
"What mattered to me was the feeling of my mate. We need boundaries between you and me. We belong to the same pack, and that's all."
Alina bit her lip and said reluctantly, "Is that all we have left?"
"That's right. If there's nothing else, you should go back to Lucas. Don't make your mate worry about you. And we don't have time to take care of you."
Connor turned around and was about to leave.
Alina said angrily, "When I heard that you wanted to see me, I was happy and even changed into my favorite clothes. I thought..."
Connor stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her. "Even if you dress up nicely, what's the point? No matter what you think of me, I won't respond to you. Stop fooling yourself. It only makes you look pathetic."
Alina cried and said, "I didn't expect that Ms. Hall would ruin our relationship."
"Alina, you've changed. You put people under pressure and make them tired. And I start to hate the way you are now."
Alina froze and looked at Connor in surprise.
Connor frowned and walked away.
Those words were harsh, but if he didn't make things clear, Alina would never wake up.
Alina needed someone to help her re-examine herself.
Connor walked away. Alina crouched down, covering her eyes with both hands, and she burst into tears.
She put in so much effort, but she couldn't get what she wanted.
She cried for a long time and it took a while before she slowly lifted her head.
Alina swore to herself in her heart, 'Annett, for whatever I've suffered today, I will make you pay back twice as much.'
The next morning, Annette was busy in the office when Alanna received an internal phone call.
After hanging up the phone, Alanna said to Annette, "Darren wants to see you in his office."
"Okay, thank you."
Annette closed the spreadsheet on her computer and went to Darren's office.
In the past, when Annette walked into Darren's office, he was always sitting at his desk.
But today, he stood at the door.
Darren saw Annette coming over, with a smile on his face, and said, "Annette, come in."
After entering the office, Annette asked, "Darren, anything happened? Why do you want to see me in such a hurry?"
Yes, Annette, you must help me. Judica had an accident at the company, and I called Mr. Norman, but he didn't answer my call. I really don't know what to do, so I called you.
"Isn't Ms. Crace working at Woody's company? What happened to her?"
"She used the money of the company, and they found out about it. Although she said she would return the money, they still wanted to send her to the police."
Annette was a bit surprised, but she also felt that Judica had brought it upon herself.
She remembered, a while ago, Judica turned Jessica on her and used her against Annette.
Annette said coldly, "Well, she broke the law."
I knew. However, Judica didn't want to keep the money for herself, she just needed it for an emergency. Besides, we will return the money to the Calley Group. Annette, can you help me contact Mr. Norman and ask him to explain this to Woody?
Annette said calmly, "I'm sorry, I may not be able to help you."
Darren was so anxious that tears were almost coming out of his eyes. He said, "Annette, I beg you. Please help Judica."
Annette knew that if she had directly refused Darren, she would have completely offended him.
She remembered that Connor had told her not to worry about Judica, as he had already arranged everything.
She thought that Connor must have something to do with Judica's issue.
"Mr. Crace, he may not listen to me about everything. But I'll give him a call, but I can't promise you anything."
"Okay, thank you, Annette."
Annette called Connor in front of Darren.
Soon, Connor answered the phone.
Annette said, "Honey, are you busy? I want to tell you something."
Connor exclaimed, "Sure, I'm all ears."
"Are you busy now? I need a favor."
Connor raised his eyebrows and said, "Go ahead."
Annette had him on speaker.
She told Connor what Judica had done. After that, she looked at Darren and said, "Mr. Crace is really worried. Can you help him think of a solution?"
"Annette." Connor's voice was very cold.
He said unhappily, "Judica broke the law. You shouldn't get involved. Have you ever considered my position? It was because of you that I introduced her to the job, but she stole from the company. I can't face Woody now. Woody is a very paranoid person, and no one can save Judica. Tell Darren to be prepared. If he doesn't accept it, he may not be able to keep his job either. I'm busy now, got to go."
Listening to the busy tone on the other end of the phone, Darren burst into tears.
Annette sighed and said, "Mr. Crace, I'm sorry. I did my best."
Darren didn't speak.
Annette nodded at him and left.
After leaving Darren's office, she dialed Connor's number again.
She was really curious about something.
The phone was connected. Annette looked around to make sure no one was around. "I just called you from Darren's office."
"I know. And you called me 'Honey'. I was shocked."
Annette smiled, satisfied with the tacit understanding between them.
"You did a great job just now. I was worried that you didn't know what I was thinking and would speak up for Darren."
Connor smiled.
Annette asked again, "By the way, do you have anything to do with Judica's issue?"
"What do you think?"
"Didn't you say that I shouldn't worry about it and that you would handle it? So, you did this, right?"
Connor nodded and said, "Smart girl."
"How did you do it?" Annette asked with some concern. "You didn't do anything bad, did you?"
Connor was pleased. He thought, 'Is Annette worried about me?'
