His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 248

Ch. 248 / 264 Apr 07, 2026

Connor poked Annette's forehead and asked, "Did I say I would blame you?"

Annette raised her chin stubbornly and asked, "So what do you want to say?"

"I wonder if you want to go home now."

"What?" Annette was surprised by Connor's answer.

"Do you want to go home?"

Annette immediately nodded and said, "Yes."

Connor rubbed Annette's head indulgently. "Then let's go back and pack our things."

"You mean we can leave now?"

  "Of course."

Twenty minutes later, Connor and Annette were already on their way home.

After entering the city, Annette asked, "Why didn't you ask me what happened between me and Alina?"

Connor said in a mischievous tone, "Because I was afraid you would make me regret it."

  Annette glared at Connor.

Connor wrapped his arm around Annette's shoulder and cooed, "I was just kidding with you. I didn't ask because I never thought crying would prove anything. She cried, but it didn't mean you did something bad to her."

"Don't you want to ask anything?"

"I just want to ask you one thing. Do you think what you just did was wrong?"

Annette shook her head firmly and said, "No."

"That's enough. I know you well. You're not someone who makes trouble for no reason. So there's no need to bring up this matter again."

Annette was curious about how Connor came up with these ideas.

Connor saw that Annette was still looking at him with confusion on her face, so he couldn't help but ask, "Why are you still looking at me like that?"

"If that's the case, why do we need to avoid them?"

Connor shook his head and said with a smile, "I thought you knew me well. Even if you didn't have this trouble, I would have wanted to bring you home."

  "Why?"

Connor leaned over and whispered in her ear, "It's not convenient with so many people around. What if I want you?"

Annette then realized what Connor was up to.

She glared at Connor with a blush on her face, then said to Leonard, "Turn around. I don't want to go home anymore."

Connor smirked and ruffled Annette's hair. "Take it easy. I'll be gentle."

Annette glared at Connor. "As a wolf in sheep's clothing, are you now too lazy to even put on the sheep's clothing?"

Connor calmly said, "Anyway, I have to take off the sheepskin in the end. I don't like to waste my precious time."

Annette sighed in her heart and thought, 'I fell for Connor's trick again.

I wasn't his match after all.'

After Connor and Annette returned home, he held her in his arms, preparing to go upstairs.

  Then, Connor's phone rang.

Connor didn't bother to pay attention, but Annette found this call could save her.

She said, "You should answer it."

  "No."

"Let me down. I'll walk up by myself."

  Then, Connor put her down.

He took out his phone and saw that it was Lucas calling, so he hung up directly.

Annette saw the caller ID and her expression turned serious.

"It seems that Lucas was angry."

"He's always angry. I think he's just too free," Connor said, pointing upstairs. "Go ahead."

Annette stood on the steps and said seriously, "I did target Alina today."

Annette told Connor the things she had said about Alina.

Connor nodded and said, "Given what she did to you, you did nothing wrong."

"But Lucas wouldn't think like that."

"I never care about what others think. People are selfish. We should pay more attention to our own happiness."

Annette looked at Connor with bright eyes and said, "But I don't want to be the reason for your disagreement with Lucas."

"You're overthinking it again. Actually, it's not because of you. He and I have been like this for many years."

Annette hesitated for a moment, then she realized something.

  "Was it because of Alina?"

Connor looked at Annette's pure and pretty face and smiled. "Forget it, let the past be the past."

"But I want to know," Annette once again blocked Connor's way going up.

  Connor remained silent.

With a calm and innocent expression, Annette said, "You know everything between Kyle and me, and I keep nothing from you. But I know so little about your past. Sometimes I even wonder what I mean to you. I admit that you have been good to me, but you mention nothing about your past. Do you think that's fair?"

Connor tapped Annette's nose and said, "I didn't tell you because I didn't think it would bring anything good to you. I didn't know you were curious about it. Well, just pout, and I'll tell you everything."

Annette wasn't fooled by Connor's words and asked, "So, you only told Alina about your family matters because she used to act cute?"

Connor retorted, "No, she didn't. And I have never mentioned anything to her either."

"Nonsense. She knows about Bartz and she knows it very well, but I don't know anything. Didn't you tell her?"

"She didn't know it from me. Don't forget that Lucas is her mate."

Annette frowned. A long time ago, Alina asked her if Connor had told her anything about Bartz, and Alina suggested that maybe Connor was being considerate not to her about him.

Annette realized that Alina's words at the time had misled her, making her think that Connor told her everything.

Annette realized that Alina had been guarded against her from the very beginning.

Connor pinched Annette's cheeks and asked, "What are you thinking?"

Annette looked at Connor and said, "I don't care what happened to Bartz. I just want to know about your past with Alina."

Connor carried Annette in his arms and said, "It's not a secret. Since you want to know, I'll tell you. But I can't say it here. Let's go back to our room, and I'll tell you."

Connor carried Annette back into the room. Annette thought that Connor would honestly start confessing his past, but she didn't expect that she was wrong.

She thought. "He carried me into the room to satisfy his desires. "

Connor pushed Annette down, but she resisted fiercely.

"If you don't finish what you're saying, I won't ever let you touch me again."

"I'm impressed. Now you dare to threaten me," he said.

Annette said with a stubborn expression, "Yep. So are you going to say it or not?"

"Alright." Connor sat up and thought, 'After I tell her what she wants to know, I can do whatever I want to her. So, why not?'

"I'll have my way with you. You'll see, babe," he said.

With a deep gaze, Connor recalled, "Alina and I were classmates in elementary school, but we seldom talked to each other during that time. I just knew there was a girl named Alina in my class."

"I didn't even know that her family had gone bankrupt and moved to France. Before she turned twenty, that was the only connection between us. Later, when I was twenty and went to France for the first time for a project, I saw her being harassed by a group of rogues as I came out of the hotel. She refused them seriously in French, but they didn't stop. I was impressed by her cool action, and I helped her out. After the rogues left, she asked me if my name was Connor, and then she told me that we were once classmates. She said her name was Alina. She insisted on treating me to a meal. But, I had something else to do, so I refused her. So, instead, she took my business card. That's how we started to keep in touch."

Annette snorted and said, "Go on. What happened next?"

"Later, I came back from abroad and forgot about the incident. About two or three months later, I suddenly received a call from an unknown number. It was Alina. She said she had returned to the country and wanted to invite me to dinner. I went to meet her that day. During the meal, she told me she had found a job here, but she had no friends or relatives and asked me to help her find a place to live. I thought it would be hard for a girl living alone in a strange city, and also, we were once classmates, so I decided to help her. I asked Dwayne to arrange an apartment for her. To show her gratitude, she invited me to dinner again. That's how we slowly became close. At that time, she was the only female friend I had. After spending some time together, our relationship started to change."
