Vanessa's POV
I could sense her change the moment she entered the room; the confidence and power were rolling off her in waves. It didn't faze me, however her mating with Axel did. I told Athena regardless of the fact he had mated her he would still see sense; he would still choose me. I was carrying his pup not her. The moment I went and gripped her throat the bitch snapped my wrist like it was a toothpick, perhaps I'd underestimated her, something I wouldn't do again.
"I want answers Vanessa. Why do you hate me?" I watched her as she walked around me taking a seat on the bench beside my bed. The pain radiating from my wrist was fading as it began to heal while I held it in place.
"Why do I hate you? Well, where do I start? Look at you, you have always been weak. You're a doormat Athena, you always have been and soon my mate and Hector will see it. You were always jealous that I received my powers early when you remained the fragile little girl. I should have been an only child; I should have been one hell of a blessed wolf. "Your mate" Athena chuckled as she repeated what I'd said which annoyed me.
"Yes, MY mate. We are marked Athena. Bonded for life. I die so does he" I spat my words in her direction, she just shook her head and smiled. "It must really irk you to know that Axel and I slept together that I tasted him and he me before you. His tongue twirled in places that goddess had me panting for breath. Hector was even fated to me"
"And it must really irk you to know Hector mated and marked me just hours after rejecting you, he knew that without you accepting his rejection you would feel pain and guess what, he didn't care we marked and mated anyway. Axel fucked me for days knowing you would feel every second of it, wanting you to suffer just like you had made us" I lost it and jumped at her knocking her to the ground, she was surprised by my actions clearly not expecting me to attack in my current condition. My fists clenched so tight as I punched her several times before she got the chance to defend herself. I was so blinded with rage that I hadn't noticed Axel enter the room until I felt the sparks of his arms around my waist as he pulled me from Athena. Axel chucked me onto my bed and growled before turning towards where Athena was getting up. I couldn't believe that he would help her over me knowing I was pregnant. Had Athena really brain washed him against me that much?
"You were warned Vanessa, yet you still don't listen. You know I think you deserve a taste of your own medicine" I was confused at his words until his lips founds Athena's, his hand slipping under her top fondling with her breast and right in front of me. How could he? The pain I felt in my chest came back with a vengeance, I fell to the floor landing on my knees with a sickening crack trying to prevent the scream escaping was futile. I thought they would stop to check I was ok, but they didn't. Instead, I saw the slightest smile on Axels face as his hand lowered cupping Athena's pussy over her jeans rubbing it slowly while applying pressure a soft lustful moan leaving her lips. Tears fell from my eyes as I begged them to stop. The pain was surreal, and I didn't know how much more I could take, surely this couldn't be safe for my pup. "Not nice is it, Vanessa? Thor didn't want to hurt me the bond pulling him to the surface wanting to help me, the bond was growing stronger I could feel it and so could he, unfortunately for him though Axel didn't seem effected, unless he were but managed to hide it well.
"HER" my voice came out higher pitched than intended but I was shocked. "No! She will not touch my pup. I won't allow it" I would rather see my pup born asleep than have Athena raise it as her own.
"You don't have a choice Vanessa. The pup will already be tainted because of who its mother is. I will not allow its life to be destroyed because of you. My pup will grow to call her mum it will never know of you" I could taste his hate for me in the air I breathed. My heart shattered at his words, my pup was growing inside me a bond between mother and child already forming and Axel stands there saying how it will never know who I am. I wouldn't let that happen, I couldn't. I needed Axels mum help.
"No... you wouldn't... you can't" gripping my hair I couldn't hold the tears back any longer. I created the pup not her; she had no right to be involved.
"Unless it isn't mine that's exactly what will happen" I couldn't believe my ears, Jewel was snarling away her hackles raised wanting to shift but the pregnancy prevented it. How could he not believe the pups heritage? I admit I had slept with a few wolves from within our pack along with a couple here and there that had visit but I hadn't been with anyone for months before him.
"It is yours" I spat my words at him outraged at his doubts.
"Then I tell you what we will prove it to be sure. I'll have the doctor come and test it before it's born"
Axels POV
I knew Vanessa had a reputation for being easy, I had overheard a few wolves from her father's pack say how quick she was to drop her knickers after being complimented. The comments shouldn't have affected me, but they did. Because we were marked and mated it meant the bond would continue to grow until I didn't want to be apart from her. I could feel myself being pulled to her more since she became pregnant. I needed the mark gone desperately before I jeopardise my bonds with Athena and Hector. Don't get me wrong I hated Vanessa, the very sight of her angered me yet Thor wanted her and so did the smallest part of myself even though I didn't want to admit it. I was true to my word and had Athena mind link Dr. Jones to come and do a paternity test. We didn't have to wait long until she arrived. The doctor looked tired, her greying hair tied into a bun, Alpha Jake said that she was planning on retiring but hadn't yet found a suitable replacement.
"Athena, Axel" Dr Jones nodded to us as she walked in, a small sad smile on her face as she looked to Vanessa. "Before I go ahead with the procedure, I need to inform you of the risks. This test involves me inserting a long thin needle into the foetus and extracting a small sample for me to test against a DNA sample from yourself. Ideally, I would just take a blood sample from the mother as traces of DNA will be present however, with Vanessa being sedated occasionally and traces of silver in her blood no matter how small the dose it can affect the results. Thus, this being the more accurate way to determine parental DNA. It won't harm Vanessa, however there is a chance of miscarriage happening over the next forty-eight hours. To prevent this, she should remain in bed for the next two days"
"Do it" my words were strong and firm, I understood the risks, but it needed to be done.
"Axel?" Athena looked worried; she didn't want anything to happen to the pup in case it did in fact turn out to be mine. Taking her hand in mine I gave it a reassuring squeeze before looking back at the doctor.
"Do it" I reconfirmed as I turned to grab Vanessa. Holding her to the bed Beta Benson came in and secured her legs to hold her still.
"No... please. Don't do this please Axel. The pup is yours I swear it. Wait until it's here and you'll see... please" her begs turning into mumbling screams as the doctor inserted the needle. Thor was growling at what was happening trying desperately to force his way forward, but I couldn't let that happen. I watched as the needle was extracted from Vanessa's abdomen her crying hysterically at what could now happen. Athena returned a few minutes later, she couldn't stand to see what we were going to do. She walked in with some straps so we could keep Vanessa bound to the bed where she would be staying for the next couple of days.
