Athena's POV
She stalked towards me her fangs on show as if she were trying to scare me. If only she knew what I had actually been through in my life, then she'd know I didn't scare easy; not anymore. I was however scared to harm the pup growing inside me. Jumping in the air she tried to land her elbow to my head, but I moved just in time. Instead, her elbow connected with the floor. Seeing a chance, I leapt onto her back extending my canines and piercing her neck. I felt a zap of electricity seep into my skin the deeper my canines went, a feeling that felt almost blissful. She screamed while throwing herself backwards making my back thump against the wall so hard it knocked the air out my lungs. My grip on her releasing as I slid down the wall. She growled grabbing hold of my hair. Pulling my head up, her knee appeared under my chin before I even saw it coming, her movements were quick and precise; I had underestimated her. My head flung backwards hitting the wall, sending my vision went blurry for a split second. Suddenly a pair of hands pulled me to my feet. Fear would have claimed me had I not known the scent of my saviour.
"Athena seriously darling you should have listened to your mate" Aunt Marie stood there looking just as young as I. The brightness of her red hair was something I had always been envious of, that and she would forever be young and beautiful; her ageing having stopped the day she died, becoming the kick ass hybrid she is now. "Come on we need to leave. The high priestess is on her way she has sent an army to begin, and we aren't fairing great. Axel has confirmed she isn't at the warehouse, so we need to get going"
"I can't run away. This pack will become mine when I claim my Luna title, I can't... no I won't make myself out to look weak. This pack is fighting to protect me, to protect this pup; I won't let them die for us. I'm a Luna not a coward. It's Axels home, Hector and mum are down there. I can help. Let me help" Aunt Marie had a smug expression on her face, though her eyes beamed with how proud of me she was. I wasn't the same Athena I was a few months ago. I no longer hid in the shadows scared of who will see me, scared of who will hurt me next. I have been hurt in the worst ways, but I didn't break. Instead, I use those fears to push myself forward. To be the woman I know I can be, to prove all those that said I was weak wrong. To prove myself wrong, because I now know I'm stronger than I believed I was. Aunt Marie just closed her eyes and dropped her head, she knew I could be stubborn when I wanted to be. A trait I inherited from both my parents regardless of the fact I may resemble my dad.
"You stay by my side, do you understand. I am not dealing with your mates should something happen"
"Deal" I practically bounced with joy though I knew I shouldn't be. Aunt Marie just clicked her tongue at me while helping me to my feet. The moment I was up we raced to the stairs. Once at the bottom there was carnage everywhere you looked. Windows shattered, blood smeared the marble floors and chunks of wall were missing. The bodies of wolves had been put in a pile in the corner. Like whom had time to do that in the middle a battle.
"Uh yeh couldn't have you tripping over the bodies now could we" The sly smile on Aunt Marie's face as she rolled her eyes. She had a slight bout of OCD and hated things being scattered, I guess that went for bodies to.
Together we headed outside where the main of the battle was taking place. I noticed Hector instantly. His huge silver wolf ripping apart each enemy he came across. I was in complete awe as I watched him, his fur mirroring the reflection of the moon. Having finally noticed me he growled annoyed that I hadn't listened to him. As he came towards me, he suddenly fell to the floor forced to shift back as he writhed in pain. His body convulsing on the ground had my heart stopping in my chest. His eyes rolled back into his head as he thrashed around, foam forming at the mouth. I desperately looked around for the source of his pain when I realised a witch was responsible. Venus was quick to tell me what to do frustrated that she couldn't shift. Conjuring my shield, I ran to Hector's side; the witches magic unable to penetrate giving my mate a chance to recover. Frustrated her power wouldn't work she turned her attention to me. The witch threw everything she had at me, but nothing touched, my shield absorbing her power reinforcing its own strength. Her absorbed power acting like a battery, charging my own power. Hector having regained his breath; his body now calm and his heart rate normal, he was back on his feet. He wasted no time in shifting giving Bryant complete control, his thirst for revenge sent chills through the bond setting goosebumps on my skin. Running from the protection my shield offered when he noticed the witch begin to tire only, he had been too late, another member of the pack had seen to them.
The Gemstone Pack were ferocious as they fought the enemy, fighting as one while in sync with each other. Though they were strong they were still so clearly outmatched it showed how vigorous their training here was. My mums white wolf was fighting with a vampire it's arms trying to wrap around her head but failing, my mum's movements being too quick for them regardless of her age. A second vampire appeared taking the opportunity to come up behind her while she was distracted. Without thinking my arms automatically moved in a sync of movements before pushing forwards. The wind I created pushed the vampire off my mums back before he had a chance to snap it landing on a broken branch of a tree. The branch piercing its heart turning him to nothing more than dust. My thrill at having used yet another element cut short as a high-pitched scream came from behind me. Turning I find a woman tears streaking her face as she stared at the ash now blowing away.
"You will pay for that you bitch" she hissed as she ran at me before jumping and landing behind me. Her hands cold to the touch as she grabbed my throat so tight it restricted my airway. Her fangs sharp as they pierced my skin. I felt my mind become fuzzy as the venom from her bite flooded my senses leaving me feeling breathless. Pleasure coursed through me a sense of arousal taking over. A vampire's bite wouldn't kill a wolf but would cause temporary paralysis while making you feel as though you were turned on. It was a way of lowering your defences, allowing them further access to your neck in the hopes of that pleasure building. My entire body felt like jelly as it seeped into my blood stream. My eyes grew heavy, and the sounds of fighting became muffled as I hit the ground.
Hector's POV
A strange sensation came over me leaving me feeling as if I were drunk but horny, my dick hardening immediately. Bryant knew instantly it was Athena. Ripping the head off the vampire I had pinned to the ground, we spun to search for our mate. She had been told to stay with Marie but knowing her she hadn't, Athena had never been one to do as she were told its part of the reason she got into trouble as a child. After a quick scan of my surroundings, my eyes landed on Marie fighting in her wolf form as she took on a rogue, but Athena wasn't with her. Opening the mind link I called out to her only for her to respond in a series of pleasurable moans and slurred jumbled up words. Sticking our snout into the air we followed her scent only to find her laid out on the ground. Witches holding their hands over her as they mumbled something in Latin. Forcing myself forwards I took out one witch while Angel appeared and took out the second. As my canines pierced her flesh, I felt the sting of the poison force its way into the witch, the veins under her skin turning black; it looked like hundreds on thin black worms were wiggling inside her. Blood gushed from her eyes, nose and mouth as she body went slack. We knew what silver wolves were capable of but having done it myself it was a feeling I couldn't quite describe. Rita came rushing over and rolling Athena onto her back, relieving any pressure she was placing on her belly. Athena's eyes were a ghostly white her skin covered in purple patches.
"What have they done to her" I snapped having shifted back. I wasn't scared for the pup as harsh as it may sound, but if it was a choice between the pup and her, I'd choose her ten times over. She would hate me for my decision should the need arise, but at least she'd be alive to hate me.
"I don't know but we must hide her. She can't stay out in the open like this. The enemy is pulling back, but I don't think they are leaving" Rita was right to be concerned. They were wining by a mile, so knowing they had retreated meant something worse was coming and that thought worried me to no end. With Athena out of action for goddess only knows how long and Axel not here we wouldn't be at full strength. Gently picking Athena up I took her back to our room placing her on the bed. Luna Angel, Rita and Marie stayed with her while I went to check the damage Axels pack had received. He had named me the Gemstone Packs beta, well temporarily anyway while he was away.
"Feeling brave, are you?" I knew that voice, so upon hearing it turned round. "Please tell me my son left more than just you to protect that poor girl?"
"You're not getting her. That pup is mine and I would die before you get your hands on it. If I were you, I'd leave whilst I still could"
"Fighting talk and from such a young inexperienced boy. My dear I think it's you that ought to be concerned. I will give you the chance to come to your senses and hand her over without further bloodshed otherwise I will level this entire home"
"This 'home' was yours, your family's. Doesn't that mean anything to you? You raised your son here and now that son is having a pup, a pup you wish to either syphon or sacrifice"
"You don't know anything do you. That pup needs to die"
