Athena's POV
They couldn't possibly be serious. She was weak and locked up how the in the goddess's name was she going to hurt me? I know it sounds silly but when I mated with Axel, I felt bad more than that really, I felt guilty. Yes, I know how crazy that sounds considering she didn't seem to regret anything she had done to me. She was pregnant and suffering all the while we were having the time of our lives, exploring each other's bodies, learning what we each did and didn't like. Though my guilt wasn't the only reason I wanted to see her. I needed answers. I wanted to know why she hated me, why she plotted to take my mate from me and why she went as far as to harm me. Siblings fight and argue growing up sure, I mean that's normal, but Vanessa and I should have been closer than any other siblings. We were twins for crying out loud. We shared a bond, one formed while in our mum's womb. I hurt she would know and the other way round. Each time she hurt herself I would feel this pull inside me, begging me to find my twin that she was hurt and needed me. That type of bond was supposed to be impenetrable, yet Vanessa somehow blocked it.
"She can't hurt me anymore, not without harming herself and the pup. You can bet your life she wouldn't risk any harm coming to it. She is well aware the pup is the only reason she is still breathing. I love you both I do, but I need to do this. Hector, you know how badly I have struggled to keep my demons at bay. Well now they are fighting to come out and I'm scared that if I don't face my biggest one of all that they will overthrow me, and I know they will win. I think deep down you already know that"
"Babe please don't. We won't allow..." Axel was quick to speak up thinking he held some kind of trump card that would make me do as I were told. Well sorry mate but that won't be happening.
"I'm sorry Axel, I love you, I love both of you more than I love myself and I think that's part of the problem. I need to do this for me, not for you not for Hector nor Vanessa but for myself. I need to end this chapter of my life and look to the future where I can be happy and content in raising your pup" I hadn't even realised I was crying until Hector gently wiped the tears from my eyes.
"Ok... but we will be there" Hector sighed as he lowered his head knowing I wouldn't give up until I had won.
"No, I need to do this alone. Wait outside if you have to but this is something I have to do myself" I gripped their hands over the table allowing our mate bond to calm their nerves that I could feel had skyrocketed since the moment I bought up the topic.
Once we had finished our breakfast we headed to my dad's office, I needed him or my mum to unlock Vanessa's room. I knew they would have the same reservations as my mates, but I was adamant not to let anyone discourage me from the closure I needed. My dad was as dead set against my idea as my mates, yet my mum surprised me. She understood why I needed this and supported my decision.
"Oh calm down you saw her last night. After the pain she's felt over the last few days she's weak. She can barely bloody stand" mum just rolled her eyes at my dad's outrage.
"Was she in a lot of pain" it was impossible to miss the excitement in Hectors voice as he asked earning himself a glare from me and my mum to which he wasted no time in looking away. I knew our stare scared him and I would use It against him whenever I could.
"What do you think? Your antics shall we say had her screaming like there was no tomorrow" my mum pushed the neck of my top aside looking at the newly healed mark that overlapped Hectors. "She felt it all" she smiled at me knowing I now had everything the moon goddess, my great grandmother had planned for me. All I needed now was to shift under the next full moon for Venus to evolve in order to fully become the guardian wolf she was created to be, the same thing for Hector and Bryant. He too would need to shift under the next full moon to fully awaken his wolfs silver form regardless of the fact his aura now outweighed his fathers who was our current Beta.
My mum asked Hector and Axel to remain with my dad, he had found a lead that would hopefully result to the finding of a witch that could dissolve Axle and Vanessa's bond. They weren't happy at all but what could they do. I knew they wanted to protect me, and I knew they would boil the ocean dry to do just that, but like my mum said Vanessa was weak and with my strength increase she wouldn't be able to take me again. I followed mum out of the office and down the hallway, stopping in front of the moon goddess portrait. Moving the portrait aside a hand scanner was revealed. My mum was definitely right when she said no one would be able to break her out, they would have to separate her or my dad's hands to do so and let's face it that was never going to happen. My mum may have lost her powers when Hectors mum Alice came back to life, but her strength remained. Mum was stronger than dad, but never once did she overrule a decision he made, well except for when me or my sister were concerned. Not only did they love each other they respected each other which only strengthened their relationship and bond, something I could only hope me and my mates would replicate.
"Athena do not let her bate you. Do not get to close and for the love of the goddess do not harm that pup"
"Are you serious mum? I would never harm the pup, it's not their fault its mother is a raging lunatic" mum just rolled her eyes at my response before placing her hand on the scanner. The panel glowed as it matched her handprint beeping as the thick metal bolts retracted out of the frame and sliding back within the heavy door as it opened revealing another steel door only this one contained silver. I watched as mum pulled a set of keys from her pocket placing them in the lock and pulling the door open.
I don't know what I had expected the room to be like but what I saw surprised me. The walls were white and padded there were no windows, a toilet and a bath sat in one corner and in the other was a bed with a bench beside it. Vanessa laid on the bed, her hair now matted and dull, no longer the golden blonde it once was. Her frame looked smaller which I though odd being as she were pregnant.
"Vanessa, you touch her, and you know what will happen" The way she looked and spoke to Vanessa was stern and a little un-nerving. "Athena baby I'm going to lock the door but don't worry as Benson will be standing outside and he will have the keys. If something happens mind link us ok" Mum's voice and eyes softened when she turned to me, I just nodded my head diverting my gaze back to Vanessa.
The moment the door closed Vanessa opened her eyes and sat up. Her eyes were puffy and red, it was evident she had been crying. I wanted to comfort her but after all it was her own fault as to why she was here.
"I bet your happy now aren't you. Little Athena thinking she has won. My mate may have marked you, but I am pregnant with his pup" Vanessa may have looked weak, but her voice still held the same amount of venom as before.
"I think you mean my mate. Because that's exactly what he is. MY MATE" I couldn't help but scream at her, even after Axel subjected her to the same torture, she had me endure she still believed he would choose her. "Look how far you have fallen Vanessa, without your friends your nothing. Even our parents have disowned you. I thought I was the freak of the family but look how wrong I was" I practically snickered at the sour look on her face as I spoke. "You're the freak Vanessa, so lonely in your own life that you sort out what I had, what was fated to me. I want to know why" within seconds Vanessa was standing in front of me her hand gripping my throat with more strength than she should have had. Before she could cut off my airway, I felt Venus come forward giving me her strength. I felt my eyes warm knowing they were now glowing, Vanessa hesitated for a second fear and shock in her widened eyes when she noticed my aura change before squeezing tighter. I gripped her wrist and in one swift movement ripped it from my throat twisting it around until I heard her bone snap.
"You fucking whore" Vanessa screamed as she held her broken wrist to her chest.
