Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 32

Ch. 32 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Leah's POV

"Lucas, what have I ever done to you to make you treat me like this?" I whispered after he got off my body.

Lucas didn't answer me. I wondered if he had heard my voice after all.

He was still furious, panting and roaring like an agitated beast. I wouldn't be surprised if he killed me in the next second.

Obviously, the rough sex we had just had didn't calm him down.

Whatever he wanted to get, he didn't get from me.

His fluid was still all over my body, and so did the bruises and cuts. It was a mess.

I could wipe myself clean and heal the bruises and cuts, but the excruciating pain in my heart never went away.

I thought Lucas would have walked away and left me alone as he did in the past, but he didn't.

Instead, he shifted his hands into giant wolf claws and approached me.

I looked at him with horror.

Was he going to rip my heart out with those claws?!

But he didn't.

Instead, he used his razor-sharp claws to cut the tie to cut loose from the bed.

Having regained the freedom of my arms, I immediately withdrew to the other end of the bed while rubbing the tied marks on my wrists.

Lucas stared at me. I couldn't tell what was in his eyes. I expected it to be guilt and remorse, but it seemed everything was consumed by his anger.

Shivering in shame, I pulled up a blanket and covered myself in a panic.

"Why didn't you run away?" he asked. His voice was as cold as stone.

"You tied me up to the bed," I replied.

"I saw the way you were fighting against my father downstairs. You could have easily run away even if you had been chained. So, why didn't you run away?" Lucas asked.

"Lucas, when Jalin told me that you were in trouble, I didn't hesitate to come here. I didn't know why I came." I said and lowered my head to check the scars on my arms. They all magically disappeared, but the pain persisted in my heart.

"You didn't answer my question." Lucas approached me. I naturally flinched.

"I came here to rescue you, Lucas. And I stayed here for closure. An you gave me the closure that I wanted," I said.

"What do you mean?!" Lucas grabbed my arms and pulled me toward him. "Are you telling me that you're going to leave me? You can't possibly leave me after all this! You're my wife! You stay with me for another three years and I'll go to the Moon Goddess to take you back. You're not going anywhere without me, Leah. You stay with me! Do not ever say that you're going to leave me! Do you understand?! Because that hurts! Are you trying to hurt me, Leah?!"

Feeling annoyed by his overly possessive desire, I turned my head away in disgust.

He slapped me around and used me like a whore, and now he's the victim and I'm the villain?

I had planned to walk away without saying anything.

I should have walked away without saying anything.

But at that time, all the misery I had been through in the past five years emerged in my mind. All the traumatic experiences. All the pain, sorrow, and grievance.

I owed this to my old self.

I collected myself and clenched my fists. Then, I said in a low voice, "I didn't run away from you not because I am in love with you, Lucas, but because I wanted you to give me a reason to stay. But throughout the process, you didn't give me anything. The only thing I have ever wanted from a man was a little bit of tenderness and sympathy, but tenderness and sympathy are something that you can't provide me with. You can tell yourself that you did what you've done just now because of love. But you know it's a lie because you need to have a heart to feel loved and generate love for others. You don't have a heart, do you?"

Lucas was shocked. I guessed he just didn't expect me to say something like this.

He was speechless.

I continued in a cold, steady voice, "I have blamed myself for not being able to let you feel love all these years, but you're the one who's supposed to take the blame. You're a horrible, horrible creature who's not capable of loving anyone but yourself. You deserve to be left alone, feeling sorry for yourself for the rest of your life."

Being confronted like this, Lucas couldn't hold it anymore. He grabbed me harder in distress and shouted, "I love you, Leah! And this love is driving me mad! Can't you see it?!"

"We didn't make love or have sex, Lucas. You tortured me and released your anger on me because of jealousy and then you call it love. No. Love shouldn't be used as an excuse for violence. If you really loved and respected me, you should have stopped when I begged you to stop. But you didn't. I'm not a disposable sex toy for you, Lucas. I'm your wife. If you fail to treat your wife with love and respect, you're nothing but a cruel individual. I refuse to stay with you and keep being the victim of your cruelty any longer, Lucas. So, this is it. This is the closure. This is the end of our marriage."

Lucas clutched me against his chest and cried out in despair, "No! No! Leah! Listen to me! This isn't the end! It's the end when I say it's the end! Don't force me to lock you up in the dungeon! I'll cut off your hands and feet if I have to! I swear!"

He threatened me because he knew that was the last thing he could do to me.

"I didn't sleep with Lucian if that's been bothering you. The truth is, I have never ever had sex with anyone else in my life except you because I am your wife. But now, I've got the closure that I want, so I'm going downstairs and signing the divorce papers. After that, I'll sleep whoever I want and it's none of your business any longer." I took a pause, lifted my head, and stared into his eyes with determination.

"Try stopping me if you can, Farrow," I said. My voice wasn't loud, but it was steady. I have never talked to Lucas in my Lycan's voice because I didn't want him to be suspicious of my real identity.

But at that time, I guess I just didn't care anymore.

Lucas was shocked, but he was completely out of his mind. He carried me up in the air and said, "No, I will not let you go..."

He didn't finish his sentence before I pushed him away with my Lycan force.

His body flew in the air for a while before hitting the hard wall.

There were cracks in the concrete wall and blood immediately fell from the corner of his mouth.

"You..." Lucas stretched out his hand toward my direction as if he wanted to strangle me to death. His eyes turned red. But he couldn't say anything else, because he was choking on his blood.

Despite the strong impulse of rushing toward him and holding him up, I walked out of the room without looking back.
