Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 25

Ch. 25 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Leah's POV

"I am Darren Swanson of the Eagle Tail Pack," Darren replied.

"And you know who I am?" Lucas asked.

"You're Alpha Lucas of the White Walkers Pack." Darren shrugged and said.

"I am Leah's husband," Lucas said in a warning voice.

"You're nothing but a loser, who was trying to harass a nice lady in broad daylight," Darren said.

I looked up at Darren and said, "Darren, thanks for your concern. I'm just having a private conversation with my husband."

"He was trying to hurt you, Leah," Darren said in a cold voice. He still held me tightly in his arms and refused to let go of me.

"And that's my problem. Let me deal with it." I looked at Darren and said in a calm voice.

My heart was bleeding when I said those words because Darren looked hurt.

He was hurt because he was trying to help me.

At that time, I heard Jalin's voice, "Alpha! His Highness is here!"

I looked up and saw Lucian striding into the alley, accompanied by his Beta Jalin and Lucas' BetaJorah.

Lucian walked past Lucas, walking straight at me to pull me back into his arms.

From the contemptible look on his face, I could tell that he equally hated every single male in this alley.

"Your Highness." Everyone in the alley immediately bowed to acknowledge my brother's presence except Lucas.

Lucian's eyes narrowed as he saw Lucas.

"What are you doing with Miss Lewyn in this alley?" Lucian had a mildly disgusted look on his face.

I recognized that look.

He had that look before he was about to kill someone.

Jorah picked up Lucas' belt from the ground and handed it to Lucas.

He put it back on his pants without saying anything.

The tension in this alley was so dense that I could cut it with a knife.

At that time, Darren said, "Your Highness, Alpha Lucas was trying to..."

"You can only speak when you're spoken to, kid," Lucian interrupted Darren. "Who are you and why are you in this alley with Miss Lewyn and Alpha Lucas?"

I felt the urge to say something before my brother had every man in my life killed.

"He's Darren Swanson and he's my friend. Lucas and I were having a conversation and he was just passing by," I said.

"Farrow, I specifically warned you to stay away from Miss Lewyn." My brother ignored my explanation and stepped toward Lucas.

Nobody would dare to keep a straight posture in front of a Lycan Prince, especially when His Highness was mad. But on that day, Lucas stood still and held his back upright as my brother was drawing closer to him.

"She came to me in the first place, Your Highness," Lucas said with an evil half-smirk on his face. "I'm unmated. I don't say no to girls throwing themselves at me."

I really wished that he hadn't challenged my brother like that, but it was too late.

"What did you say?" Lucian raised his voice and kept on approaching Lucas. I knew he was utterly enraged. If I hadn't done something, he was definitely going to kill my ex-husband.

Lucas was a great fighter. I saw him fighting both in human beings and wolf forms a couple of times in the past. He had been through rigorous fighting training for years before he eventually qualified to become the Alpha of the White Walkers Pack.

But there was no way he could fight against my brother, the eldest son of the Lycan King, who used to rip a bear into two halves with bare hands when he was 12.

The thought of my brother ripping my ex-mate into two halves was daunting. I was horrified even by thinking of it.

At that time, police sirens appeared from a distance.

"Thank Moon Goddess," I whispered with relief. Talking about saving by the bell.

"Well, you thanked the wrong person." Darren leaned forward and whispered in my ear. His eyes were full of desire and passion.

I felt my face burnt, so I lowered my head and mumbled in a panic, "Thank you for calling the police, Darren."

"Always a great pleasure to help a damsel in distress." He winked at me and said with a smirk.

Then, he took a bow toward my brother and Lucas, "Your Highness. Alpha. Miss Lewyen. Excuse me."

Then, he strode out of the alley.

Jalin moved forward and whispered to my brother, "I believe it's wise to go back to the restaurant, Alpha. We don't want unnecessary exposure to human beings. Those human cops are really a pain in the ass. I'm sure the meals have already been prepared."

Lucian took a glance at Lucas and said in a cold voice, "This isn't over, Farrow."

Then, he turned back and walked toward the restaurant entrance, holding me in his arms.

Jorah sighed and said to Lucas, "Let's go! Alpha, please. Miss Clara is waiting for us in the car."

Lucas ignored him and raised his voice, "As a matter of fact, Your Highness, this isn't over!”

Everyone in the back alley was shocked by Lucas' response.

My brother stopped and turned back at Lucas.

"What did you just say?" Lucian asked in a threatening voice.

Please do not say one more word, Lucas. Just walk away. Please. I'm begging you now. I bit my lips and thought to myself.

"I said the thing between me and Leah isn't over," Lucas said in a deep, steady voice. "I was misinformed and misled in the past, so I didn't treat Leah the way she was supposed to be treated in our five-year marriage. Even though I rejected her, I remain to be her first man and her legal husband. Our marriage is still valid until we both sign the divorce paperwork."

Then, he gazed into my eyes and said, "I am in love with you, Leah. You used to be and still are my woman and wife. I'll do everything to take you back. You and me, we aren't over."

Having said that, he bowed to my brother, excused himself, and walked off.
