Goodbye, My Mate

Chapter 35

Ch. 35 / 291 Aug 06, 2025

Jorah's POV

"You know you can tell me where it is." I took the box and took out some bandages to wrap the wound in front of my chest.

"Yes. But I want to take it out by myself. Do you have any problem with that?" Lucas frowned.

"No, Alpha. Having problems with you will never be one of the many problems I have to deal with." I said, trying to wrap the bandage around my chest, but I couldn't.

Lucas sighed and took the bandage from my hands and started to mummify me.

"Do you think I should take her back?" Lucas asked.

"I'm not supposed to give anyone any advice on relationships," I replied.

"Are you defying me?" He stared at me, frowning.

I answered without hesitation, "No, I'm bleeding."

"Jalin did this to you?" Lucas asked.

"No. I accidentally fell on my dagger, because that's what I do. I hurt myself until it bleeds." I said.

"Can you still drive for me today?" Lucas looked worried.

"Yes, I can drive for you. And yes, Leah's a keeper. You should do everything to take her back, and that everything doesn't include having rough sex with her."

"I have never had any complaints from the girls I fucked."

"Because you've killed them. Dead girls don't complain." I shrugged. The bandage went loose when I did this. More blood came out of my wound.

Lucas frowned and pinned the bandage against my chest with some tape.

For an Alpha, he was really good at doing this wrapping bandage thing.

I wasn't surprised. He used to fight with us valiantly in the trench, healing the wounded and burying the dead by himself.

"I didn't kill Leah," Lucas said.

"She's your wife, Alpha. You're not supposed to kill your wife. Plus, women aren't horses. You can't just feed them with some hay and they will let you ride them whenever you want." I couldn't believe I had to actually explain this to my Alpha.

"I want her back." He looked like he had lost his soul.

"I'm well aware of that. That's why I ate your divorce papers."

"I want to kill Lucian. He's definitely fucking Leah." I saw the flame of jealousy in his eyes.

"That, I can't help you. Lucian is the son of the Lycan King, Lucas."

"Then I'll kill the King. I don't care. I want my Leah back." Lucas roared in a low voice, pulling the bandages harder to tie them up.

My face contorted in pain and said, "I know you'll say no, but why don't we find another solution that doesn't involve killing and treason?"

Lucas said, "I want my woman back! She's my woman! Damn, if Basil was still alive!"

Then, he tied up the bandage and pushed my head away from him.

I scratched my head. I hate people messing up with my haircut even though there wasn't much to be messed up with.

"If Basil was still alive, you wouldn't be stuck with someone like me, who's good at nothing. Thank you for reminding me of that on a daily basis. That really makes me feel much better about myself." I mumbled while bringing him his new shirt and suit. I needed to dress him up for a 2:30 meeting, and it was already 4:45.

"Are you with me on this?" He looked at himself in the mirror, adjusting his tie. He looked dazzling again whenever he was fully dressed.

"I thought we'd already passed the pledging phase of our relationship, Alpha."

"I have no people around me, Jorah!" He shouted in despair.

I sighed, took a pair of boots, and kneeled on the floor to help him to put on his boots.

Perfect timing for me to pledge loyalty to my Alpha.

"I'm with you till the end of my life, Alpha." I looked up at him and said. "But we have to find a way to cope with our loss. Deep down in Leah's heart, she's still in love with you. The only thing we need to sort out is how to let her realize that she's still in love with you."

"Do I need to fuck her again or something?" Lucas stared at me and asked.

I sighed and tied Lucas' boots.

I remembered the first day of my job. I called Jalin and cried my eyes out.

He didn't say shit to comfort me, he only said, "It's too late to quit your job, kid. So deal with it."

And hell I'm dealing with it.

Leah's POV

"Where do you think you're going?" Jalin asked me while I was trying to sneak out of the house.

"Why are you still here?" I dropped onto the sofa, feeling all deflated. "I thought you were out with Lucian..."

"I was about to. But now I can't do anything because of you. I went upstairs and checked up on you 10 minutes ago and you were sleeping soundly. Now, you're all dressed up and trying to sneak out. Are you seriously thinking of going out tonight?" Jalin folded his arms.

"Laura wanted to throw me a party at the Sheridan Club. Come on, Jalin. Am I grounded?" I looked up at him with my puppy eyes.

"Stop puppy-eyeing me. You know it doesn't work. You're not going anywhere tonight." Jalin turned his head away from me.

I pulled Jalin's sleeves and said, "But Laura is already at the club, waiting for me. She'll be so bored and disappointed. Plus, if you let me go out tonight, I won't tell Lucian anything about what happened to me today."

Jalin thought for a while and eventually gave in. He could never really say no to me for more than five minutes.

He stroked my hair and said, "I don't think clubbing is the best way of spending the night, especially not after what you've been through earlier today. But it sure will make you relaxed, so Troy will drive you to the club and take you back."

"Jalin, I really don't think it's necessary. I'm sure my Father's Head of Security should have more important duties to perform..."

"He's got nothing to do tonight except to look after you," Jalin said and dialed a number on his mobile.

"I don't need a babysitter. I just need to have some quality girl time with Laura..." I mumbled. But it was too late. Troy had already shown up at the door.

"Someone is asking for an escort service?" Troy asked, leaning against the door frame.

All my Father's security details were carefully chosen from the Royal Academy of Military Service.

Due to the fact that they have to appear with my Father on a variety of diplomatic occasions, all of them need to meet His Majesty's strict aesthetic requirement for the physique as well as combat skills.

Troy, as the Head of His Majesty's Security, was without question the best of the best in every way.

Jalin, feeling obviously disturbed by Troy's Greek-God-like appearance, tapped Troy's face, and said, "Looking pretty tonight, Troy. Where's your dirty lingerie?"

"I'm wearing it right now. Do you want to take a look at it?" Troy stared at Jalin and asked.

Jalin smirked, ruffled Troy's hair, and said, "Funny boy, huh?"

"You started it." Troy shrugged. Then, he reorganized his hairstyle, approached me, and bowed slightly.

"Miss Leah. I'm so glad you're back. Troy Greer is at your service tonight."

"Thank you..." I blushed and lowered my head. I wasn't used to being stared at by handsome men other than my brothers and husband. "I'm sure you're busy tonight. It really won't be necessary for you to..."

Jalin didn't let me finish and said to Troy, "Take her back before midnight and we're cool. Do you hear me? Before midnight. Good boy. After midnight, bad boy."

Troy snarled at Jalin, "Sure. Thank you for explaining it to me. But I don't think I can remember it if you don't write it down. So do you want to do me a favor and write it on my ass?"

"Have fun, girls," Jalin said with his phone buzzing again. He picked it up, pointed at Troy's chest to warn him, and walked out of the room while talking on the phone, "Yes, Alpha. I'm on my way right now... Yes. Leah is asleep... No, please don't try to drive a car by yourself. The last time you tried to drive a car, you cost us 7 million dollars... What do you mean I'm so cheap?"

Troy cleared his voice awkwardly and said, "Everyone likes Jalin. He gets along with everybody."

I chuckled.

Troy gestured and asked, "Are you ready for a girl's night out, Miss Leah?"
