Leah’s POV
I clenched my fists. I couldn't believe someone would threaten me in such a shameless way.
Gloated, Sak continued, "Plus, if I turn Finn in, I will also have to turn in his client list. There are a lot of big shots on that list and I'm sure when you wake up the next morning, your world will be turned upside down just like mine. Come on, Miss Lewyn, we don't know each other, but I've done nothing else except for trying to make you a happy customer. I've got families. I've got three sons at home. Maybe one day you can meet them and you will become their favorite auntie. Do you really want to make three innocent boys fatherless for the rest of their lives?"
I couldn't hold my anger anymore and said, "I can't believe that you're using your son as an excuse to try to get away with this! Finn is someone's son. Have you ever thought of that? What if someone like you did what you've done to Finn to one of your sons? What if it was your son?!"
For a brief moment, Sak looked as if he was about to strangle me to death. But as a canny businessman, he refused to let anger take control of him. So he smiled at me and said, "Miss Lewyn, I'm a businessman. I only talk about concrete numbers. I don't talk about hypocritical possibilities. Here's my offer. I will give Finn to you tonight. He's your possession from now on. But in return, I want 200,000 dollars wired to my account right now to purchase the private service license and another 100,000 dollars every year from now on for renewing the license. Everyone is safe. Everyone is happy. And you'll be more than welcome to come back any time to this club if you want. Everything will be free of charge for you because you'll be the favorite aunt of my boys."
Good. He's talking about numbers.
I like it when people are trying to talk numbers with me. It's like watching circus monkeys doing math tricks.
Like what my brother used to say, problems that can be solved by money isn't a problem at all, and problems that can't be solved by money haven't been invented yet.
But still, I didn't want this scumbag to think that he had sealed a deal so easily.
I just didn't want him to be suspicious of my identity.
"A license costs only 100,000 dollars." I narrowed my eyes.
"I know, but as I said. I'm a businessman. So, this is me, ripping you off." Sak snarled like a fox.
"If I pay," I cleared my voice, "you will have to promise that from now on, you will have nothing to do with him. You will not harass him. You will not harm him in any form..."
"Miss Lewyn. I have never hurt him in any way." Sak shrugged. "You can ask him later if you want."
"So we have a deal," I said without hesitation. "What's your account number?"
Sak looked satisfied, taking out his name card. He quickly wrote a string of numbers on the card and handed it to me.
I took out my phone and logged into my bank account, inputting the account number and the amount that I was about to transfer.
"I'll have to see Finn before I hit the transfer button," I said.
"Sure, of course." Sak smiled. He waved his hands to the security guards who were standing next to him. They immediately walked away. A moment later, they came back with Finn walking behind them.
The moment I saw Finn, I gasped in fear.
His face was so bruised that I couldn't even see the original color of his skin. He was wearing a plain white T-shirt, but it was soaked in blood. His arms and legs were covered in bruises and he was literally covered in blood. They must have violently beaten him up after I was gone.
I gave Sak a dark look.
He shrugged and said, "I promised to give him to you, but I didn't promise to give him to you in his original form."
His eyes were filled with malice and it seemed that it was the most common thing to see Finn being so miserable like this.
I wouldn't even imagine what Finn had been through in the past under his captivity.
But anyway, it didn't matter. In a few minutes, Finn would be with me. And I would do everything I can to make sure that he will not be hurt by any scumbag like Sak anymore.
Finn recognized me. The light in his eyes softened when he laid his eyes on me. But as soon as Finn saw the soldiers standing behind me, he immediately panicked. There was horror in his eyes, which was so painful that it even made me feel hurt.
Why is he afraid of soldiers? I thought to myself. Does it have something to do with Sak?
I stared at Sak with searing anger.
Sak shrugged and said with a chilling smile, "He's very clumsy. He hurt himself so badly all the time. If I were you, I would make a collar for him and put him on a leash. He'll be a good boy."
Just before I clicked the transfer button, Finn suddenly ran toward Sak and grabbed his arm, kneeling on the floor and begging in a low voice -
"Sir, please don't do this to me. I will do everything you tell me to do. I will never run away from you. Please don't let them take me."
He begged in such a desperate way that I could tell even he himself knew it wouldn't make any difference to his destiny.
Then, he took a pause and whispered, "Please, brothe..."
He didn't finish his speech because he got slapped by Sak.
"Shut up, you fucking slut." Sak cursed with anger. "If you say one more word, I'll rip your tongue off!"
Finn became rigid. He didn't even bother to cover his face or wipe off the blood from the corner of his mouth.
He lowered his head for a while and eventually stood up like a robot.
Then, he just stood there as if nothing had happened to him, waiting for his destiny.
