Leah's POV
"Lucian, please, it's hard enough for Mr. Farrow to admit his sister's challenging mental condition in front of us. I guess it's wise to pardon her this time. And I'm sure there won't be another incident like this happening in the future," I said.
I was, even though I hate to admit it, born and raised to be benevolent and kind. I noticed that Clara was mentally challenged when I met her for the first time. She bashed a hot burning kettle at me. I didn't really take it personally at that time.
When I called Lucian affectionately by his name, referring to him and me as "us", Lucas' face turned even darker.
Now that he had more confirmation that there was something going on between Lucian and me.
He clenched his fists and stared at me.
I knew there were thousands of words he wanted to say to me, but he just didn't have a chance.
"Alpha Lucas, may I ask why are you staring at Miss Lewyn like that?" Lucian asked. He obviously didn't like his sister being stared at by anyone.
"I'm looking at her because she's a beautiful, attractive woman, Your Highness," Lucas replied in a monotonic voice. His voice was still civil and diplomatic, but it was also aggressive.
That was like a jab right at Lucian's face.
Nobody had ever crossed my brother as Lucas did.
"She is a beautiful, attractive woman who has nothing to do with you, Farrow. Now, since Miss Lewyn has already forgiven you, off you go."
"Yes, Your Highness," Lucas replied briefly and walked off.
Jorah, Lucas' Beta, turned back and wanted to join Lucas, but he stopped and said, "Miss Lewyn, I know I shouldn't tell you this, but Miss Josephine Solis has already been cast away permanently from our pack."
Then, he took a bow toward Lucian and walked off with Clara in his arms.
I was gripped.
Lucas cast Josephine away? I thought he would never do it! Does that mean that he didn't want to take me back? Why didn't he tell me anything about it? Does that mean he doesn't want to have anything to do with me from now on?
"Leah, are you OK?" Lucian asked.
"No, brother. I don't know..." I felt the butterfly in my stomach. "I guess I need to use the restroom!"
Having said that, I stormed out of the lounge.
I didn't know which direction I was running to. I didn't know why I was running in the first place. But the only thing I knew was that I had to do something before I imploded. I didn't like the idea of implosion.
Then, I saw my ex-mate standing out of the entrance on the side of the road, lighting up a cigarette. His hands were so trembling that he couldn't even hold the lighter steadily.
Does he smoke? I didn't know that he smoked! In my memory, he always smelt like a mixture of cedar, lavender, and patchouli. He had never come back home with the smell of smoke or alcohol lingering on his shirt.
I used to smell his shirt all the time. During the nights that he wasn't with me, I used to cover my head with his dirty shirt and sniffed his sweet scent. I knew it was morbid, but I couldn't control the mating impulse in me.
A she-wolf had to be mated with her mate. Or else she would implode.
Nobody likes implosion.
I ran toward him. By the time I stopped in front of him, I found that I had already been out of my breath.
"You..." I stuttered. "What are you doing?"
Lucas, who looked surprised, immediately flickered the half-smoked cigarette to the ground.
His long, slender fingers rolled the lighter and it magically disappeared in his sleeve.
"I was smoking and now I'm not." He tilted his head and frowned, "Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in there, enjoying lunch with His Highness?"
"But... But I'm here... I don't know why I'm here..." I murmured. My heart was about to jump out of my throat. I knew I had to keep saying something, but somehow all the words that came out of my mouth magically evaporated into the air.
"And that's why you want me to give you a reason." He said in a deep voice, gazing into my eyes.
This tall, handsome Alpha male used to be my mate. He took my virginity five years ago and I could still feel the weight of his body pressing on top of my chest. He wasn't a gentle lover. He was angry and violent. He almost crushed me on our wedding night, and I didn't know how to soothe him.
He turned back and walked away without saying anything, but he only took a few steps and stopped.
Then, he turned back at me, staring into my eyes.
"Fuck it." He mumbled to himself, walked toward me, and dragged me into the back alley of the restaurant. Before I could do anything, he had already pressed me against the cold, hard stone wall and molded his mouth on mine.
"Leah..." He whispered and moaned at the same time. My name set fire to his mouth. His hot breath was flickering on the side of my neck. "Please... Don't leave me..."
"Lucas, you..."
I didn't finish my sentence, because my mouth was sealed by my ex-mate again.
He slapped his palms against the wall on either side of my head. I gasped at the approach, which turned out to be a shameful moan.
I could feel his warm breath on my lips.
Then, his hands were slowly gliding down the sides of my body and eventually stopped on my waist.
"What?" His eyes locked onto mine as he pressed his body against mine. "Isn't this what you want? Have I ever forced you to do anything that you didn't want to do?"
My body turned boiling hot as Lucas' voice flickered every single cell of my body. His smell, the mixture of cedar and cigarette, made my groins on fire. I had never felt the same kind of burning sensation before. Not even when he pinned me on the bed and possessed me on our wedding night. Then, I realized that was the natural reflection of my being aroused by my ex-mate.
The truth was, I hadn't been touched by anyone for a long time. Days and nights, I would wait for Lucas' arrival. And whenever I saw him in his tailored suit, surrounded by people, my whole body would melt. A single glance from my mate, even just for a brief moment, would set me on fire.
I loved this man. I was head over heels in love with him. And now he wants me.
The sexual drive, entangled with shame, drove me mad. I became so wet. I was turning my head from side to side, trying to dodge his storm of kisses, but his lips were all over me, making me even hornier.
I had nowhere to run.
