Cherry
I found myself in hospital after regaining consciousness, my vision blurry and my head still throbbing.
“Nuu-Chaah, my head hurts so much.”
As I tried to make sense of my surroundings, I heard voices, distant at first but clearer later.
“Doctor, thank you so much. We will keep in mind everything that you told us.”
I struggled to turn my head, finding Bert and Karson talking to the doctor.
“We found traces of poison in her body that, if drunk a lot, would cause a miscarriage. Thank Nuu-Chaah that Luna only had a small portion of it.” The doctor glanced in my direction, and our eyes briefly met.
Bert looked at me, worried about what had happened.
All of us were speechless by this finding. Who would have done such a thing to me?
“I've administered the antidote. She'll need some rest here.” The doctor instructed Bert before leaving.
“Thank you, doctor. I'll make sure she gets the rest she needs.” Bert nodded.
As the doctor and Karson left the room, Bert returned to my bedside.
“Cherry, you're finally awake. I didn't even know you're pregnant. How are you feeling now?” He sighed.
“I…" I tried to speak, but my throat felt dry and scratchy.
I attempted to get off bed, but was hit by a sudden wave of dizziness.
“Easy, Cherry. You need some rest.” Bert helped me sit up.
“I-I saw Dylan and Chelsea showing up at the café just right before I fainted. There's something with her eyes.”
“With Chelsea's eyes? What do you mean by that, huh?" Bert asked anxiously.
“It may sound crazy…" I hesitated.
“Come on, tell me Cherry. What is it?”
“Chelsea has the same cold and piercing eyes as Lucy. Could it be that Chelsea is actually Lucy?” I asked.
“Lucy? She had been expelled after Dylan poisoned her with wolfsbane.”
“I don't know, but my instincts are telling me that they are the same person."
“Cherry, are you sure it's her? I mean, I was there when Dylan expelled her.” Bert's brows furrowed as he processed what I had just said.
With this solid evidence from Bert, I felt less certain and fell into a trance.
Suddenly, what had happened in Maldives surfaced in my head.
That dark brown hair! And that familiar scent!
All these details seemed to get pieced up! It couldn't be a coincidence!! Chelsea must be the owner of those eyes that watched Dylan and I back in Maldives!!!
“Did you thought of something else, Cherry?” Noticing I tensed up a little bit, Bert asked.
“You may not believe it Bert, but Dylan and I got stalked on our honeymoon. We didn't catch the stalker, but she has the same hair and scent as Chelsea! I'm 100% she was Chelsea!!" I tried to keep my voice steady.
"What?!! But why? Why did she do that? What was her motive behind all these?" Bert was shocked, posing these questions, to which I had no clue either. “Still, that doesn't mean Chelsea is Lucy, Cherry.”
“I can't help but be scared, Bert. What if she's really Lucy? What if she's been hiding all this time, waiting for the right moment to strike? A-And this is the right moment for her now?” I asked him.
“We'll figure this out, Cherry. Before that, I'll make sure Fern and you are safe.” Bert reassured me.
“Does Dylan know about your pregnancy?”
“He fainted and was diagnosed with memory loss after finding out about my pregnancy. I don't think he remembers anything about it.” I took a deep breath. “He was delighted by the news, so I'm… Now it felt like that was the last day of us being happy together.”
Bert and I were interrupted by a sudden rattling at the door.
I glanced at Bert, and we exchanged a quick, worried look just as the door burst open.
Dylan stormed in, followed by Chelsea.
“What are you doing here, huh? You can't just barge in as you please.” Karson, who had been talking to the doctor in the corridor, was hurriedly over, trying to block Dylan.
"Cherry, what the hell is going on?” Dylan's eyes were fixed on me.
“Dylan, Cherry needs rest. She's not in a stable condition now. She'll talk to you later after she recovered,” Bert said.
Dylan's jaw clenched, his fists balling at his sides.
“I don't care, Bert! All I saw was she messing around with this man at the café! What the hell were you doing there?!”
“Dylan, I…" Tears welled up in my eyes.
Impatient, he crossed the room in long strides and reached for my arm, his touch rough and demanding.
“Answer me!”
I winced at the pain that shot through me as he pulled me to my feet.
“Dylan, I'm pregnant…" I whispered, tears streaming down my face.
“Pregnant? With that man's bastard?” His grip on my hand loosened. He stared at me, disbelief etched across his face.
“Luna Cherry,” Chelsea spat, “how could you do this to Dylan? Why do you hate him so much? Are you not yet done ruining him and his reputation?”
I tried to defend myself, but my throat choked with tears and anguish. Dylan's trust had crumbled before my eyes, and now Chelsea's accusations had pushed me to the brink of despair.
“No...That's not true. None of this is true.” I glanced at my mate. “Dylan please, just this once. I need you to believe in me—”
“Liar! Why would I believe in a woman like you?” He yelled.
My legs gave way, and I crumpled to the ground.
Just when I thought I couldn't bear it any longer, strong arms encircled me, lifting me from the cold ground. There was an achingly familiar scent from the arms, but I was unable to tell if it was Dylan or Karson.
