Fern's Perspective
I woke up to a searing pain around my wrist. I think I knew what was going on before I could open my eyes.
"Our mate betrayed us, Fern! They betrayed us!" My wolf chanted over my head, her whines torturing me.
"How can our mate do this to us after claiming us last night?"
"Stop calling Giovanni and his wolf our mate! He doesn't deserve to be called our mate, he's nothing but a mere traitor who had to use our bond to get to us!"
I breathed deeply and opened my eyes.
I pulled my hands only for the pain around my wrist to worsen. The silver chain hurts as if it was melting my skin and flesh.
"I can't believe that the shifter I once looked up to became a spineless coward," I whispered tugging the silver chains even when I knew that breaking the chains was impossible.
I chuckled bitterly.
"He knew that he couldn't easily defeat me that's why he took the chance that I was weak from our mating last night to take me to wherever this hell is!" I gritted my teeth and kicked the comforter off my body.
"Water? Do you need water?"
"Are you his beta?" I asked the shifter who just got in.
"Where is Giovanni?" I asked. He placed the glass on the bedside table.
"You'll see him soon. Don't worry," he assured me. A pair of Delta helped me get out of bed.
The beta of the pack and the deltas communicated through their telepathy before I was dragged like a sinful shifter being shamed.
I gnawed my teeth and calmed my wolf as she screamed in pain after I was forced to kneel on beads made of silver.
"Who is that?"
"Is she a rogue?"
"Did she sneak in last night and try to steal anything?"
The members of the pack asked. One of them squinted their eyes at my pendant.
"I think that's Alpha Dylan's daughter!"
"Alpha Dylan, is he the Alpha that tried to kill our Alpha Giovanni years ago?"
I frowned.
"What are you talking about? Did Giovanni tell you that?" I asked them. They shut their mouth.
"My father is an honorable man. He'd never tried to kill someone as young as Giovanni before! Those are all nothing but lies!" I screamed, desperately defending my father's honor.
Giovanni mocked me through his laughter.
"Your father is not as honorable as you think he is, Fern," he said, pressing me harder on the beads of silver.
I closed my eyes and pursed my lips.
"The letter that I sent to your parents would be on their hand by now, and your mother will now know why she was feeling all this pain," he said.
"You can't make me a lowly omege, Giovanni! I'm not a rogue, and I don't belong in your pack."
Giovanni made me remember a memory from last night.
"When an Alpha claimed his fated mate. She automatically becomes a member of his pack. I'm an Alpha, Fern."
I drew out my claw and hissed at Giovanni, disobeying him. His wolf had become powerful. The blood of an alpha that was running in my veins was no match for the power and authority that Giovanni had.
"What happened in the last eight years? How did he become this powerful?" My wolf asked.
I never thought that I'd be a lowly omega. My father worked hard to make sure that our pack would be powerful enough to make sure that we'd survive if anyone dared to attack us, but here I am.
"You could start with your omega duties by taking care of the Alpha's dinner," Beta Tobias said as he was unchaining me.
Being a lowly omega meant escaping Giovanni's territory would weaken me.
"Do you really want me to cook Giovanni's dinner? Aren't you scared that I'll poison your Alpha?" I asked Beta Tobias.
He smiled, amused at me.
"Well, aren't you a little fighter?" He asked. Beta Tobias bowed his head as if he was paying respect to me.
"You're smarter than that. You might plan to kill Alpha Giovanni, but I'm sure as hell that you won't do it recklessly."
Beta Tobias patted my shoulder.
Searing a ribeye on the skillet. An old lady who oversees all the lowly omegas came to me. She turned off the stove and wrapped a shawl on my neck.
"What is this for?" I asked, trying to get the shawl off my neck.
"Wear it and cover your neck, Fern. Aurora will come here to have dinner with Beta Tobias and Alpha Giovanni. You don't want her to see the Alpha's mark."
"Who is Aurora?" I asked.
"Just wear this and stop asking questions, Fern. You already have it hard here. You don't need Aurora to make your life a living hell."
"Thank you for your concern, but whoever she is. I'm not scared of her. I might be a lowly omega now, but I'm still an Alpha's daughter. My father will save me from Dark Howl, and while I'm here I must not let anyone walk all over me." The old lady smiled.
"Alpha Giovanni demands your presence in his office," a delta said.
Knowing that I might not follow them right away. They pulled me towards the office and pushed me hard to the door.
"What a total bastard!" I whispered before facing Giovanni.
"What do you want from me?" Giovanni clenched his jaw and tossed a paper with an official seal of my father's seal.
"What is this?" I asked.
"An official declaration from your father, Fern. Dylan sacrificed you to save the whole Starsmoon pack," Giovanni said.
The letter really said it.
"In exchange for letting the Dark Howl Pack keep me as their lowly omega. Alpha Giovanni swore to never attack Starsmoon pack."
I looked around and seeing the Dark Howl Park made me realize something.
"Your pack is the powerful secret pack that every other pack was scared of?" I asked.
I placed the letter back on the table.
"As long as you'll do as you promise that you won't attack Starsmooon, then I don't mind spending the rest of my life as a lowly omega," I said which angered Giovanni.
"Dylan turned his back on you aren't you mad at him, Fern? You're his daughter!"
"He's also an Alpha who swore to protect his pack. He was only doing what he must and as his daughter, it's my duty to help him keep the pack safe." I pulled my arm from Giovanni.
"Staying here as your hostage or your omega is my way of fulfilling my duty to the Starsmoon pack," I smirked at Giovanni.
"And if you think you can twist my head and make me hate my father, Giovanni. That will never happen."
