Giovanni's Perspective
I froze in place for a split second when I heard the man speak. I looked at Aurora and just couldn't believe my ears.
"Why?" I asked, clenching my teeth as the wolf inside me let out an angry growl, forcing myself to glare at Aurora in anger.
Aurora panicked a little at the look in my eyes and glanced at the man next to her as if seeking help.
"Aurora doesn't need to report anything to you. She can do as she pleases. You're not qualified to restrict her freedom. She's already done enough for you," the man said, nodding towards Aurora first, then stepping to block her body, staring at me viciously.
Of course, I understood his mindset. Anyone would want to show their tough side in front of the woman they loved. It was just a pity he chose the wrong opponent!
"What the hell do you think you are? Where do you get off talking here?!" I looked at the man with disdain. With the wolf inside me letting out a threatening growl, the man froze for a moment.
"Damn it!" He blushed a little, embarrassed by Aurora beside him. Without further hesitation, he lunged towards me, his wide paws kicking up smoke and dust, quickly enveloping him in a huge black shadow.
He transformed into a giant wolf in the moment he attacked me. Perhaps it was his fighting instinct, relying on this surprise move to defeat many who despised him. But everything he hid seemed like slowed-down movement to me.
"Idiot," I said, lifting the corner of my mouth into a contemptuous smile.
Just as the giant wolf he transformed into lunged towards me, opening its bloody mouth with sharp fangs and emanating an unpleasant fishy odor, making me subconsciously frown, my movement to retreat slowed down by a beat.
This moment was quickly seized by the werewolf in front of me. A hint of joy appeared on his ugly face, followed by a wolf howl as he violently lunged towards my neck.
The action was so fast that it was almost imperceptible to the naked eye. Aurora beside me was panicked, covering her eyes, unable to bear watching the tragedy about to unfold.
But as he reached me, I suddenly bent down, transforming into a giant wolf myself. Then, with a fierce stomp of my feet, I charged towards him.
That man obviously didn't expect the current turn of events and thought I was stunned when I froze in place just now.
But I wasn't going to give him another chance to regret it.
The huge impulse made him instantly unable to resist, and he could only barely move his body to avoid my frontal attack.
Still, my front paw swooped down solidly on his chest.
The man in front of me was flung down from the air like a kite with broken strings, and a cloud of blood mist also erupted from his chest, dispersing in the sky above.
Immediately afterward, he slammed heavily into the ground, only stopping when his body was blocked by a large tree.
"No!" Aurora's eyes widened. How could she have imagined the battle changing so quickly? At that moment, the man was lying on the ground, slowly struggling, crimson blood continuously oozing from the corner of his mouth.
His chest heaved as he gasped for air, but his eyes were dead set on me, almost eager to eat me alive. But that was just his pathetic fantasy.
I resumed my human form with a contemptuous smile playing at the corner of my mouth and slowly walked up to him, condescendingly scrutinizing the dying man.
"How dare you try to take my woman with such ability?" I looked at him coldly, then slowly raised my foot to his fearful eyes.
If I stomped down with this foot, his chest would instantly cave in, ending his life in that moment.
"Remember not to get too cocky before you win next time." I closed my eyes briefly, feeling a moment of silence in my heart for him.
But just as I immediately stepped down, a dull thud came violently from behind me.
Before I could be surprised, Aurora rushed towards the man who had collapsed beside me, yelling.
The pain didn't come instantly; the cold touch of the dagger began to spread through my body.
I gripped the sharp dagger tightly as the immense pain spread from my back. At first, it was only the pain of muscles being torn apart, then the blood in my body seemed to find an outlet to vent, violently converging at the wound.
My entire body felt like a deflated balloon; the strength dissipated instantly, leaving me unable to stand. But as I fell to the ground, I still used my arms to support myself.
But what I couldn't bear more than the physical pain was the heartache. I really didn't expect it to be Aurora who killed me, and for another man. The woman I cared so much about had pushed me into the abyss with her own hands.
"Giovanni, I'm sorry, I just couldn't watch him die in front of me." Aurora blanched in shock at the scene before her, as if she hadn't recovered from the sneak attack she had just made on me. Despite her apology to me, her concerned eyes remained fixed on the man lying on the ground.
"So it's okay for me to die, right?" The corners of my mouth turned up slightly, and I shook my head in self-deprecation. I really didn't expect that all the love and care I poured out in the end would be returned with nothing but cold betrayal.
In that moment, my heart almost died. I no longer had the motivation to hold on, and my entire body fell heavily to the ground.
"Don't just stand there, your mercy to him now will end up killing us." With Aurora's assistance, the man regained his footing, and he also handed Aurora back the dagger that he had just plunged into my body.
"No, I don't want—" Aurora slowly backed away, shaking her head in horror.
"Hurry up, we really won't be able to leave when someone comes later, only by killing him can we leave without being discovered!"
The man looked around warily while giving Aurora another push so she could stand in front of me.
Aurora was trembling, holding her dagger; the blood from me earlier had dyed her clothes as well. At that moment, she looked like a bloodthirsty monster.
"Giovanni, I'm sorry, don't blame me." Two lines of hot tears trickled down Aurora's face, then she raised her dagger high, clenched her teeth, and stabbed me violently in the heart.
Aurora's tears fell onto my face like searing lava being thrown into a calm lake, creating only a ripple on the surface but turning into a disaster below.
I lay on the cold ground, pain lapping at my body like a raging wave, love and pain intertwined in my heart. I knew there was no turning back from this. Aurora's betrayal was like a sharp sword that stabbed deep into my heart, leaving a wound that would never heal.
"Come on! Let's go now!" Just before I closed my eyes, Aurora gave me a hasty glance before following the man and disappearing from my view. In the next instant, the world was plunged into darkness.
