An hour later, the car stopped at the Carter family's old mansion.
Dominic got out of the car and walked towards the house, asking the butler as he did so, "What's the situation at home?"
The old butler followed behind, respectfully saying, "The old lady went to pray. Madam Carter hasn't been going out much, but a few orchids arrived a few days ago, which Madam really likes. Miss Carter has gone to attend a banquet, and Young Master is upstairs."
"Hmm." Dominic replied succinctly, indicating he had understood.
The Carter family mansion was very large, with several buildings including a garden, but according to the butler, there weren't many people living inside, and the situation seemed to be declining.
Dominic's black handmade leather shoes stepped on the golden silk carpet as he walked forward. He exuded a compelling pressure with his resolute and noble face, showing no emotions. His thin lips pressed together, and his whole body emitted a dominating aura.
All the servants, without exception, lowered their heads and were obedient, fearing to provoke the male master who had been away from home for a long time.
Dominic finally arrived at Christopher's residence.
In the sunny room, Christopher was sitting at the desk, writing seriously.
Beside him, the private tutor, upon seeing Dominic's tall figure appear at the door, came forward and greeted, "Mr. Carter!"
Dominic nodded and stepped back into the corridor. "How is Chris today?"
During the period when Chris ran away from home, his emotions were unstable, and he had stopped attending classes for a long time. He only resumed his studies today upon returning to the old mansion.
The private tutor was a male teacher with many years of teaching experience, and he looked solemn.
"We did a few test papers today. During the break from classes, Young Master's studies did not fall behind, but since he started classes, he hasn't said a word."
Dominic's facial lines tightened. He nodded, then turned and asked the nanny in charge of Christopher's daily life. The answer was the same: since returning to the old mansion, Christopher hadn't said a word.
It had been almost a day and a night since yesterday evening.
Dominic's expression darkened. Chris suddenly refusing to speak must be because of Alessia!
Dominic looked at David. "Find out where Dr. Sinclair's sister is?"
Following the navigation directions given by Riley, the farther the car drove, the more familiar the route felt. Just then, the phone rang.
Alessia turned on the Bluetooth, and a man's voice sounded in the car.
"Hello, Miss Sinclair, I am Dr. Sinclair's patient's family assistant. My name is David. How long will it take for you to arrive?"
Alessia raised an eyebrow, guessing that when Riley introduced her to others, he had said she was his sister, so the other party naturally assumed her surname was Sinclair.
It was just a form of address, and she didn't care. She couldn't be bothered to correct it.
Alessia glanced at the navigation and replied, "Half an hour."
"Okay, I will wait for you at the entrance. Please drive safely!" The man hung up.
Alessia couldn't help feeling that the voice sounded somewhat familiar, but she dismissed the thought. Voices transmitted through electric currents would naturally be altered.
On the other hand, David also had a similar feeling.
David was startled but didn't think too much about it. After all, the former president's wife's surname was La Rosa.
Thirty minutes later, the navigation ended, and the car stopped outside the estate.
Alessia sat in the car, looking at the mansion where she had lived for three years.
A hint of complexity flashed in her eyes, and she confirmed by looking down and sent a message to Riley: [What's the patient's last name?]
Riley: [Carter, what's wrong? Are you in trouble?]
Alessia: [No!]
Alessia put down her phone, leaned back in her seat, and realized that things could really be so coincidental when faced with reality.
The bastard was eager to find a doctor to come to the house, indicating that Christopher's situation must not be good.
If she went in, the bastard would surely think she had ulterior motives and might start a conflict again.
Alessia took out a lollipop, peeled off the candy shell, and put it in her mouth.
Just then, someone knocked on the car window.
Alessia looked over.
Outside the car window, David's enlarged face appeared before her eyes, with Dominic standing not far behind him.
The expressionless bastard stood with one hand in his pocket, his pitch-black eyes fixed ahead, as if trying to seize her through the glass.
If she hadn't been sure that the car windows couldn't be seen through from the outside, she might have thought the bastard had spotted her.
Alessia silently averted her gaze, lowered her eyes, and crunchily crushed the lollipop in her mouth, then slowly finished eating it.
Outside the car, David, not receiving any response, stopped knocking on the car window and instead lowered his head to dial a number on his phone.
The pleasant sound of a phone ringing emanated from inside the car.
David glanced at his phone, then at the car that remained still. He furrowed his brow in confusion. "Mr. Carter, this is Miss Sinclair's car. Why isn't Miss Sinclair opening the door? Did something happen?"
Sudden fatigue leading to a heart attack, a sudden onset of illness...
After the phone stopped ringing automatically, David speculated about several possibilities before resuming tapping on the car window.
"Miss Sinclair, can you hear me? Miss Sinclair?"
Still, there was no response. David turned to Dominic for help.
Dominic finally moved his long legs forward and stared at the glass in front of him, his voice cold and emotionless. "Break the car window."
"Yes, sir." David received the command and was about to leave.
However, at that moment, the car window slowly rolled down, revealing the woman's perfect profile. Her skin was pale, her nose high, her eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings, and her lips resembled rose petals, exuding a cold and glamorous aura.
Dominic's gaze lowered slightly.
David's expression changed in shock. "Miss La Rosa!"
"It's me." Alessia unlocked the car and pushed open the door. Her white flat shoes touched the ground, and after getting out of the car, she looked directly at Dominic with her clear almond-shaped eyes.
Dominic remained silent, staring at her with an inscrutable gaze.
David looked at his phone and then at Alessia. Finally, he moved his lips, murmuring incredulously, "Isn't this Dr. Sinclair's sister's car?"
"It's me!" Alessia replied.
David closed his mouth in shock. He had never imagined that the former president's wife was Dr. Sinclair's sister, so it was the former president's wife who came to see the young master!
The former president's wife was truly different now. Not only had her appearance changed, but she had also become the beloved sister of the famous business legend, gold-medal lyricist, and designer Al. And now, she had unlocked another identity – as the sister of the renowned doctor, Riley.
Who said that the former president's wife was just a village girl who dropped out of junior high school?
David swallowed his saliva, suddenly looking forward to what surprises the former president's wife would bring next.
"I want to see Christopher," Alessia said.
However, the bastard's gaze swept past her and he turned directly towards the mansion, coldly instructing someone to watch the gate.
He didn't even give her a chance to communicate.
Alessia looked at the gate, where two guards stood straight, glaring at her. She furrowed her brow.
Since even Dominic had come out to greet her personally, it meant Christopher's condition must not be good.
Since Christopher's phone couldn't be reached, it was probably confiscated.
Alessia looked at the imposing mansion in front of her once again, determined that no matter what, she would see Christopher today.
