At that moment, David walked in.
Dominic spoke, "How is Christopher?"
David replied, "Young Master is still locked in his room."
Dominic sat up straight, pinching the bridge of his nose again, rare traces of self-doubt appearing. "Do you think I've done something wrong?"
David paused, having just delivered the information about the former CEO's wife living across the street.
After some thought, David spoke, "Mr. Carter, actually, you've been giving Miss La Rosa chances all along. When Young Master's attitude improved, you gave up on asking Miss La Rosa to leave Toronto. You've been waiting for Miss La Rosa to speak up. Unexpectedly, Miss La Rosa, thinking herself clever, moved to the opposite side and secretly contacted Young Master."
Different faces in public and private settings. Encountering the CEO's bottom line, he didn't immediately ask the former CEO's wife to leave Toronto, which was unexpected.
Dominic felt tired. He knew this woman was scheming, but he had been giving her chances all along. After all, she was the one who abandoned Christopher first. If she wanted to rebuild a relationship with Christopher, she should be the one to speak up first.
David understood the logic, but Alessia didn't.
"What about Dr. Riley Sinclair?" Dominic changed the subject, lifting his head.
"Dr. Sinclair promised to see Young Master for a consultation tomorrow afternoon," David replied.
"Okay, send Christopher back to the old house tomorrow morning," Dominic decided.
That woman was cunning, and Christopher's condition couldn't rely on her.
Dr. Riley was the best psychiatrist. During this time, he would treat Christopher's condition and prevent any possibility of him contacting that woman.
The clock struck eight in the evening, and Alessia had already arrived at Rosedale neighborhoods in Toronto, which was prepared for her by Hannah.
It was a standalone villa with its own small garden, and the environment was no worse than that of the Forest Hill.
Alessia glanced at Christian and Eleanor, who were going upstairs. The two kids seemed low-spirited, even though they didn't express it verbally.
Alessia furrowed her brows. She knew that although the two kids didn't say it, they were reluctant to leave the Forest Hill.
Dominic was domineering, and if he found out about the existence of the two kids, he would definitely fight her for custody.
Regarding the custody of the children, she would not back down.
Alessia sighed and took out a lollipop, unwrapping it and putting it in her mouth, slowly relaxing her mood.
Originally, she planned to find her firstborn and then leave Toronto, but now it seemed that she couldn't leave in the short term.
There was still a month left before school started, and the matter of the two kids attending kindergarten also needed to be put on the agenda.
As night fell, the neon lights of the city flickered. This city didn't fall into sleep just because the moon had risen, but compared to the slow pace of the orphanage, eight o'clock was late.
The security guard yawned and saw a black Land Rover stop at the gate.
The car door opened, and a man with gold-rimmed glasses, tall and gentle-looking, stepped out.
The security guard stood up professionally.
The man adjusted his glasses and spoke with a gentle voice, like a warm spring breeze. "Hello, my name is Riley Sinclair. I'm looking for Director Jonas."
"Wait a moment!" The security guard, seeing the man's extraordinary demeanor, didn't dare to be neglectful and called Director Jonas.
Before long, Director Jonas came out.
The man politely shook hands with Director Jonas. "Director Jonas, it's been a long time!"
Director Jonas carefully examined the man's face, unable to recall who he was. She awkwardly touched her short hair. "Mr. Sinclair, I'm sorry, but may I ask who you are?"
The man smiled gently and politely. "Director Jonas, it's normal that you don't recognize me. In fact, this is only our second meeting. The first time we met, I was only thirteen years old."
As he spoke, the man handed over a business card.
Following the light, Director Jonas glanced at the business card, which read 'Riley.'
At ten o'clock that night, Alessia was preparing to go to sleep when she received a call from Director Jonas.
Director Jonas's voice came through the phone. "Sia, someone wants to see you."
Alessia's eyes flickered, thinking of the business card that she had unknowingly tossed away. She instinctively refused, "I don't want to see anyone."
On the other end of the phone, Director Jonas seemed surprised by her straightforward refusal and chuckled kindly.
"You should still meet him. I heard from Mr. Riley Sinclair that he has been looking for you for years and only recently got news of you."
"Mr. Riley Sinclair?" Alessia frowned.
Director Jonas's voice continued, "Yes, you were adopted by Mr. La Rosa, and this Mr. Sinclair followed along back then. He was still young at the time, but in the blink of an eye, so many years have passed. He could be considered your nominal older brother!"
Alessia gripped her phone tightly.
With Director Jonas's words, this Mr. Sinclair should be the brother mentioned by Hannah.
With her 'brother' appearing, could she finally find her grandfather?
She had a premonition that Z's disappearance was only temporary.
Alessia spoke, "Okay, please tell him to meet at the orphanage tomorrow morning."
The next day, at eight in the morning, Alessia left home. She had expected to meet her 'brother' soon, but as the appointed time passed, an hour had gone by and the person still hadn't shown up. Instead, Director Jonas received a call.
After hanging up the phone, Director Jonas's expression turned worried. "Sia, Mr. Sinclair has had an accident."
An hour later, at the hospital.
Alessia walked into the inpatient department. She pushed open the door to the ward and saw a man wearing gold-rimmed glasses, dressed in a white patient gown, lying quietly on the bed. One of his legs was encased in a thick layer of plaster, suspended high in the air.
At that moment, the man seemed to hear someone enter and raised his eyes at the sound.
Behind the lenses of his glasses hid a pair of fox-like eyes, gentle like a clear emerald lake. A smile played at the corners of his lips, and his voice was as melodious as the tinkling of a clear spring in the mountains.
"Sia, you're here!"
Alessia approached and confirmed, "You're Riley?!"
She had seen this man in medical journals back in her home country.
She always paid attention to strangers, but Riley's medical talent made her take notice.
Riley specialized in psychology, but he had made achievements in the fields of surgery and traditional medicine as well. He was a rare all-round talent in medicine.
Riley pushed his glasses up and, with fondness in his fox-like eyes, gently smiled, "Sia, why call me Riley, when you used to call me brother?"
Alessia fell silent for a moment, saying nothing.
A hint of melancholy flashed in Riley's eyes. "Sia, where have you and Master been all these years? Why did you suddenly disappear?"
Alessia pursed her lips and raised her gaze. "I lost my memory!"
Perhaps it was the memories sleeping deep in her mind, but although she had only interacted with Riley for a few minutes, she inexplicably felt trust towards him, a trust that even surpassed that of Hannah and Dylan.
Fortunately, the emotions Riley displayed next did not disappoint her either.
Riley's gentle fox-like eyes widened for a moment, a hint of seriousness flashing across his clear face, then he stopped asking anything further. "Wait till I'm better."
Physician, heal thyself.
Alessia understood that Riley wanted to treat her.
She had seen many famous doctors before, but none of them had a solution to her amnesia.
But, it couldn't hurt to try again.
She had many questions for Riley, but now was clearly not the time.
Alessia's gaze fell on the IV bottle hanging by the bedside. "I heard you were in a car accident?"
Riley seemed to think of something, a trace of helplessness crossing his face as he nodded. "Yeah, quite unlucky!"
Before Riley could say more, the sound of high heels clacking against the floor echoed in the corridor, followed by a figure storming in.
The newcomer was bustling with energy, completely ignoring her, heading straight to the bedside and slamming a stack of payment bills onto Riley.
"You shameless uncle! You pretend to be harmless, but you're actually a wolf in sheep's clothing. It's as if someone else is the unlucky one! If it weren't for certain people, would I need to waste time in the hospital?"
Harmless on the outside, beastly inside, this idiom sounded quite serious.
Alessia glanced at the furious Bianca, then at the indifferent expression of Riley.
She felt that something was strange between the two, but one thing was certain, Riley's car accident was definitely related to Bianca.
Riley had a good temper. With the hand not connected to the IV drip, he picked up the payment bills from the blanket, showing no hint of surprise or irritation at Bianca's rude behavior.
His voice was gentle, like a spring breeze. "Miss Carter, thank you for today. My family is coming."
The implication was that she could leave now. The words were tactful, but unfortunately, Bianca was somewhat willful and stubborn.
