Though Clara was not happy with this arrangement, she didn't say anything further. After all, those poisonous pills had been taken for testing, and Alessia couldn't escape responsibility. Dealing with her was just a matter of time.
Alessia pursed her lips and quietly stood aside. Her suspicion hadn't been cleared, and in this situation, Dominic's actions were indeed the most appropriate.
Listening to Bianca's description of the symptoms, Grandma's condition shouldn't be too serious. There was no rush for the examination results to come out.
Bianca quietly pulled Alessia's hand and whispered, "Sister-in-law, don't worry. Even if there's something wrong with the prescription, you had good intentions. Grandma won't blame you. She'll be fine."
"..."
As time passed by, the tightly shut door of the ward was opened, and several medical staff walked out.
Clara was the first to approach. "Doctor, how is my mom?"
Dominic also walked over. Though his face remained expressionless, one could see his thin lips tightly pursed, indicating his concern.
The leading doctor shook his head.
Clara turned to choke Alessia's neck, "Alessia, you harmed my mom, I'll strangle you."
However, before she could touch Alessia, Dominic locked her hands.
"Dominic, are you helping her?" Clara glared at Alessia, clearly unable to believe Dominic's actions. She felt betrayed, knowing well that her nephew had never liked his ex-wife.
"Aunt, let the doctor finish." Dominic released her hands.
Clara, puzzled, turned her head and saw all the doctors looking embarrassed.
What did she do?
Clara was full of doubts, and she heard the doctor say, "Miss Carter, don't worry. When I shook my head, it meant that the cause of the Old Lady Carter's swollen foot hasn't been identified yet. But besides that, there are no signs of her condition worsening. On the contrary..."
"On the contrary, what?" Clara hurriedly asked.
The doctor found it unbelievable and furrowed his brows, "On the contrary, there are signs of improvement and repair of the hidden disease on the Old Lady's leg."
"What did you say? My mom's leg is so swollen and painful, how could it be a sign of improvement and repair? Is this a misdiagnosis?"
Clara questioned in disbelief.
"Miss Carter, I'm just stating the results of the examination. If you have any doubts, you may seek further examination from another professional."
The doctor's tone turned somewhat sour. Even if the person in front of him was a wealthy young lady, having one's professional skills questioned was not pleasant.
"No need." Dominic spoke.
The doctor in front of him was the best surgeon at the Toronto Hospital.
The doctor gained acknowledgment, and his expression improved slightly. With a look of longing in his eyes, he asked, "Mr. Carter, may I ask, was the pill the Old Lady took given by a Master?"
"A Master?" Dominic's dark eyes flickered.
Clara looked as if she had seen a ghost, glaring fiercely at Alessia.
Was this doctor delusional? How could a rural woman be considered a master?
Clara, dissatisfied, spoke again with sharp and haughty tone, "What nonsense are you talking about? Where did this master come from? I seriously doubt your medical skills now. I demand the hospital to immediately replace you and redo the examination for my mom, otherwise your hospital can forget about continuing to operate."
The doctor's expression turned grim.
Dominic also furrowed his brows.
Only Clara remained oblivious to any issues. If what the doctor said was true, wouldn't it mean that Alessia's prescription was fine and Alessia was actually commendable?
Then what about herself, who had been criticizing Alessia's prescription from the beginning? Wouldn't she be embarrassing herself?
"Even if we check a thousand more times, Doctor Xander's diagnosis will never be wrong." Just then, a voice sounded.
Everyone looked up to see a male doctor supporting a man with a cane slowly walking down the corridor.
This man had a pair of gentle and captivating fox-like eyes.
Riley handed a stack of reports to Dominic. "Mr. Carter, the analysis of the pill's composition is in the report. There are no toxic ingredients in the pills, and the medicinal effects derived from these ingredients are beneficial for health, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis."
"Who are you? How can you claim there are no toxins in the pills?" Clara immediately questioned, displeased by Riley's lack of doctor's attire.
Riley's eyes softened, but a hint of sharpness glinted within as he revealed his identity, "I am Riley Sinclair."
This name was likely well-known in Canada, as he was regarded as a genius in the medical field.
Clara was left speechless. She hadn't expected Alessia, a countryside woman, to have such good luck, stumbling upon a prescription with such potent effects.
Today was indeed a lucky day for this woman.
Feeling humiliated once again, Clara's face turned livid as she stormed into Grandma Carter's ward.
"Why are you here?" Alessia approached Riley.
"It's a coincidence. Dr. Lincoln just brought over this report for testing, and when I saw the composition of the pills, I knew it was yours." Riley walked with Alessia to the side, his eyes filled with indulgence.
"So, this prescription was developed by Grandpa?" Alessia asked uncertainly. This prescription had suddenly popped into her mind, likely something she remembered before losing her memory.
Riley just smiled gently, not answering her question directly. "Sia, I want to be discharged. Please arrange the discharge procedures for me tomorrow."
"What about your leg?" Alessia was concerned.
Riley shook his head. "It's fine. After I'm discharged, I'll recuperate at home. Does your house have a medical room?"
Alessia understood. Riley wanted to be discharged from the hospital mainly to get her checked up.
That would be good. Eleanor still carried the fetal toxin, and having Riley move in would allow them to study it together.
"I have plenty of rooms where I'm staying. I can arrange one for you," Alessia said.
"Please do it as soon as possible," Riley said, his gaze turning serious.
Alessia nodded.
As Bianca watched Riley and Alessia converse with gentle smiles, she felt a lump in her heart.
She sneered and said, "Dom, do you really believe that Riley guy and Alessia are just siblings? He has the surname Sinclair and Alessia has the surname La Rosa. I think this Riley guy has ulterior motives. He's using the pretext of being siblings to get close to Alessia. Don't you think I'm right?"
After saying this, Bianca couldn't hear Dominic's reaction. She turned to look at him, only to find him staring coldly at Riley, his thoughts unreadable.
Just as Bianca thought she had dodged a bullet, Dominic spoke with a somewhat displeased tone, "If you injure someone, you must take responsibility. Go help Dr. Sinclair back to his ward."
"Okay." Bianca subconsciously walked toward Riley, only realizing halfway through what she had done.
How did her brother know she had bumped into Riley? Her brother referred to the old man as Dr. Sinclair, so he knew him?
A series of questions flooded Bianca's mind, but then she felt it wasn't a big deal.
Helping the old man would prevent him from getting close to Alessia, so it was good.
"Mr. Sinclair, let me escort you back to your ward," Bianca said as she supported Riley.
Riley's gentle mask underwent a subtle change, politely declining. "No need to be polite, Miss Carter. You should go take care of Grandma Carter."
"There's my older brother here, also my sister-in-law, and my aunt. Grandma doesn't need me. After all, I've always said that I'll take responsibility for Mr. Sinclair to the end."
Bianca supported Riley and was about to leave.
Riley looked back at Alessia.
Alessia looked at the interaction between Riley and Bianca, her almond eyes gentle, waving her hand, saying, "Then you go back and rest first, I'll come to pick you up early tomorrow morning."
"Okay." Riley gently nodded.
Bianca was stunned. Just now, she was some distance away and didn't hear clearly what Alessia and Riley were saying. At this moment, it seemed that she realized something was wrong.
She stopped and looked at Alessia. "Sister-in-law, where are you going to take Mr. Sinclair tomorrow?"
"Discharge from the hospital."
"And after leaving the hospital?"
"Go home."
"Back to Rosedale Residence?" Bianca's volume suddenly increased.
Alessia paused, seeming not to understand why Bianca reacted so strongly, and asked, "Do you think there's a problem?"
