Chapter 234

Ch. 234 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

Marilyn turned back to look at Roland. She put on a smile that looked a little strange. "Roland, did you come prepared?"

Roland smiled mischievously. "Lynn, have I ever come to your house with nothing?"

Marilyn nodded seriously. "No. And I've never been polite with you and taken all of the things you bought!"

Every time Roland came, he would buy vegetables or daily necessities, and Marilyn wouldn't let him bring them back.

Thus, every time she went to his house, she would also bring him bags of things in return.

Roland looked at her confused look, which was much better than that when she was crying.

"Lynn, hurry up and cook. I'll go play games with Dominic." Roland said. Then he got up and went downstairs. Now that things were settled, Marilyn would no longer be bothered in her heart, and their relationship remained the same as before. Roland was relieved.

Marilyn smiled faintly and returned to her room to change.

When she reached the first floor, she saw Jeannie playing with Dominic and his sister.

And Denise was preparing dinner in the kitchen.

Marilyn walked into the kitchen and found that Denise was looking down at her phone while she was washing the vegetables.

The water spilled out, but Denise did not notice it.

Marilyn shouted, "Denise, what's the matter?"

Denise looked up at Marilyn and shook her head quickly. "Lynn, I'm fine."

Marilyn looked at Denise's bitter smile and asked, "Jacob is looking for you again?"

Denise nodded slightly, and her smile was still bitter. "Yes. He kept sending messages and asking me where I was.

"But I have not replied to him. These days, he seems to be looking for me everywhere. But it was meaningless.

"I have decided to give up this relationship. Just like what Mrs. Remington said, the Remington family is far from my reach. I am not worthy of their family."

When Marilyn heard this, her heart ached.

She comforted Denise with a smile. "Denise, your relationship might be a failure. But it is not because you and Jacob betray each other, but because his parents do not agree. However, you have forgotten one thing. No matter how stubborn his parents are, they can't change Jacob's mind. There is still hope for you because you and Jacob love each other deeply. Thus, you don't have to come to a conclusion so quickly. Just wait and see!"

Denise shook her head slightly. "Lynn, forget it. I've thought it through. I bought a new mobile phone. After dinner, I'll use it and change my Line and phone number."

"Alright." But Marilyn's heart still ached.

It required great courage to face everything.

Seeing that Denise was going to wash the vegetables, Marilyn walked over and said, "Denise, go and rest. I will cook. Now you are still in your pregnancy. You will feel uncomfortable when you deal with the fish."

Denise shook her head. "Lynn, I won't. The morning sickness is usually in the morning and it won't happen during the day. I'll cook with you. You've had a hard day. I've been at home these two days and I'm not tired."

Upon hearing that, Marilyn had no choice but to agree.

An hour later, Marilyn and Denise made a few dishes, including the fish Roland wanted.

After finishing their meal happily, Roland played games with Dominic and Laverne until ten pm. Then he left.

At the weekend, Marilyn did not go out for two days.

She finished the work that Natasha wanted at home.

Not working hard was just equivalent to not working! During these two days, Marilyn locked herself up at home and focused on designing rather than eating. It could be said that she was very diligent.

On Sunday night, she finished her work and sent it to Natasha.

Marilyn breathed a sigh of relief because she had tried her best.

And these two days, Malcolm seemed to have disappeared from her life and had never sent her a message.

The next day, Marilyn went to work as usual.

She was wearing a white dress, and her soft hair was combed into a neat ponytail, making her look more capable.

As soon as she arrived at the company, she met Velma.

Marilyn remembered what Alaina had told her a few days ago.

Before she greeted Velma, Velma walked over with a gloomy face.

Today, Velma was wearing a tight red dress, which made her look tall and graceful. She straightened her slender neck and raised her chin high. She was originally gentle and ladylike, but now she looked arrogant like a peacock.

"What? Marilyn, didn't you go home with Mr. Lowe last night?" The first thing Velma did was mock Marilyn with ill intentions.

Marilyn said with a faint smile, "Miss Remington, why should I go home with Mr. Lowe?"

Velma smiled coldly and said, "You lived in the same hotel, and you even went shopping hand in hand. Your relationship..." Velma suddenly paused. "Marilyn, don't tell me that nothing has happened between you."

"Does the relationship between him and me have anything to do with you?" Marilyn's words were sharp, and she got straight to the point.

If she remembered correctly, Velma was now Hugo's girlfriend. But Velma had always loved Malcolm, and Marilyn did not know why Velma suddenly became Hugo's girlfriend.

But no matter whose girlfriend Velma was, she did not have the qualifications to question Marilyn like this.

"It certainly has something to do with me! If not for your appearance, the person Malcolm wants to marry is me..."

"Then he did not marry you before I appeared. If he truly wanted to marry you, even if I appeared, his mind wouldn't be changed.

"Don't just stand here and talk nonsense. And don't always think of defaming someone innocent." Marilyn coldly interrupted Velma.

"You..." Velma was speechless.

She thought, 'Fortunately, she is not Carolyn, and I can finally be at a bit of ease.'

Velma snorted and took a few steps toward Marilyn, whispering, "Marilyn, with me here, you will never be able to marry Malcolm. You will never be able to get what I can't get."

After that, Velma quickly took a step back and saw Malcolm, Julian, Sergio, and Terence walking in.

When Malcolm entered, he saw Velma looking at Marilyn coldly and whispering.

He knew that Velma was up to no good.

Hearing the footsteps behind her, Marilyn quickly calmed herself down and turned around. Then she saw four handsome men walking in.

Marilyn blinked her eyes. The four men had different temperaments.

Sergio was gentle and jade-like.

Malcolm was as domineering as a king, and his sharp eyes were charming.

Julian gave people a romantic and unrestrained impression.

Terence had a hint of cynicism and unruliness.

The four of them were together, a perfect group that could attract all of the women in the world.

Marilyn came back to her senses and nodded at them.
