Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 254

Ch. 254 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

Malcolm didn't speak and just quietly appreciated the wine glass in his hand.

He didn't like to smoke or drink.

Cigarettes and alcohol were unable to dispel the pain in his mind.

Most of the time, he liked to exercise, which could relax him.

Around them were noisy surroundings. Malcolm frowned slightly, but he patiently accompanied Sergio.

Malcolm actually felt guilty for his three friends, but he never revealed it.

In the past, when he was in pain, his three friends accompanied him.

Julian stayed by his side almost every few months without returning home.

Now that he was accompanying Sergio, it could be considered as returning Sergio's favor.

After Marilyn returned home, she directly went to her room.

The sunset was making great splashes of fiery opalescence across the sky, and its rays penetrated through the French windows, enveloping Marilyn.

Marilyn slightly closed her eyes as she lazily leaned against the chair, looking out the window without blinking!

There was no beautiful scenery outside the window, only the beautiful twilight.

The phone on the table rang twice. It was a call from Roland. Marilyn did not pick it up.

She was very conflicted and didn't know what to say to Roland.

Marilyn sighed heavily, her slender fingers rubbing her brow. She had never been so agitated before.

The doorbell rang...

The sudden knock on the door woke Marilyn up. She got up and casually opened the door.

As soon as the door opened, Roland's tall and straight figure stood against the light, like a god.

Marilyn looked at Roland with slight surprise. Roland was wearing a neat and flat suit. He directly came to find Marilyn from his company.

She smiled and said, "Roland, you're here!"

When Roland heard her weak voice, he frowned, looked at her, and walked into her room with two cups of coffee.

He placed the coffee on the table and asked, "Lynn, why didn't you answer my call?"

Marilyn sat down weakly and smiled. "Roland, I haven't decided yet!"

Roland gave Marilyn a deep look and sat down opposite her. He looked at Marilyn with a distressed expression and said, "Lynn, I knew it. That's why I was worried and came to see you!"

Marilyn smiled and said, "What is there to worry about me? I am an adult. Are you afraid that I will get lost?"

Roland looked at Marilyn helplessly and complained. "Lynn, you know that this is not what I meant."

Marilyn also looked at Roland helplessly. She had already changed the topic. Why did Roland come up with this topic again?

Roland suddenly looked at Marilyn seriously and said, "Lynn, this is a good opportunity. Margie is not a good person. She secretly did many illegal things."

Marilyn thought what Roland said made sense. "Roland, I'm thinking about a question. If I was harmed by a madman, would I have to take revenge? I'm thinking about it. If I do this, won't I become the same as her?"

Roland understood what Marilyn meant. He asked, "Lynn, are you willing to miss this opportunity? Are you willing to be hurt?"

Roland's question made Marilyn slightly stunned. She looked at Roland in a daze and thought, "Am I willing to be hurt?

No, I don't. I will not lie down under such treatment!

I am not reconciled to the fact that I couldn't accompany my parents and let them live a decent life."

Roland saw her expression and knew that she had hatred in her mind!

Marilyn said, "Roland, I will not submit to such treatment!"

Roland said sternly, "Then, don't go soft on her."

"Lynn, think about it. How have you been all these years? You have suffered and have been tormented. You have survived all that alone. Think about your past. Lynn, will you submit to such treatment?

"You haven't found your parents and your family. Are you willing to accept all these things?" Roland bombarded Marilyn with questions to which he should have known the answers. After knowing what Marilyn suffered before, Roland felt his heart ached for her every time he thought about it.

"Roland..."

"Lynn," Roland pulled Marilyn's hand over, held it in his hand, and felt it was a little cold.

Marilyn wanted to pull her hand back, but Roland held her hand tightly.

Marilyn suddenly looked up at Roland. Unlike his previous gentle appearance, Roland was reserved and mature. He looked deeply at her. He was handsome and attractive, looking unapproachable, making people feel an uncomfortable chill.

Marilyn hardly saw Roland being like this.

Marilyn occasionally went to his company. From a distance, Roland looked like this.

"Roland," Marilyn looked at Roland quietly and smiled gently as she said, "I know you feel sorry for me. Since that's the case, let's do it. I only want to know where Margie brought me back. I must find my parents first."

Speaking of her family, Marilyn suddenly remembered Debbie's look of dislike at her.

Roland tightened his grip on her hand and said, "Lynn, I will always be on your side!"

His words warmed Marilyn.

"Roland, all these years, with you by my side, I have never been lonely." Marilyn looked at Roland sincerely.

Roland only regained his usual gentle appearance until then.

"Lynn, let's do it now. I have found some evidence about what the Chambers family did."

Marilyn smiled and nodded. She got up and went to get the other phone. She turned on the phone and saw many messages questioning her from Margie.

Marilyn sneered coldly and quickly sent a message to Margie.

"Margie, I will give you one last chance. Back then, where did you take Marilyn away?

"If you don't tell me, I will expose everything you have done secretly."

After sending it, Marilyn placed her phone on the table and waited for Margie's reply.

She had always resisted the truth.

Therefore, this time, she was so persistent to know where Margie had taken her away.

Every time she closed her eyes, she would remember Malcolm's questions, which would drive her crazy.

Marilyn and Roland sat quietly and did not speak.

Roland took a cup of strawberry juice, inserted a straw, and handed it to Marilyn.

Marilyn smiled gratefully and said, "Roland, every time you come over, you will bring me delicious food. I'm too busy to have breakfast today. I'm just starving right now."

Roland looked at Marilyn with heartache. "You won't take good care of yourself. Elvira will come back soon. I'll ask Elvira to make you more delicious food later."

Marilyn smiled and said, "Mom accompanied Dominic and Laverne to the bookstore. I'll go cook later, and my dad will only be back at seven o'clock. Denise is also busy, and now I have free time."
