Destined by One Night: The CEO's Pursuit

Chapter 232

Ch. 232 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

Marilyn held her phone and lay on the soft bed before checking the text.

It was a work report from Alaina.

Alaina reported the progress of work every day so that when Marilyn went back, it would be much easier!

Marilyn smiled and replied, "Thank you".

Just as Marilyn was about to put down her phone, she got another message.

With one look, her face changed.

"Ms. Chapman, I accidentally bumped into Velma today and knocked the documents in her hand to the ground. I saw a paternity test report with your and Mrs. Remington's names on it, but I did not see the result."

This confirmed Marilyn's guess during the day.

Was it really her?

Perhaps she had guessed it during the day, so at this moment, she was not as surprised and painful.

Marilyn replied to Alaina, "Alaina, thank you. Please keep this a secret for me. Don't tell anyone about it yet!"

Alaina quickly replied, "Ms. Chapman, don't worry! I won't tell anyone!"

Marilyn thanked Alaina again and then slowly lay down on the bed.

Her body was sore from exhaustion. Yet at this moment, she couldn't fall asleep.

'Why does Velma do the test? She is doubting it too?

But how did she get my hair?'

Marilyn suddenly remembered that a few days ago, she always met Velma in the bathroom or saw Velma from afar.

Velma did not say hello. Her eyes were gloomy, which Marilyn didn't like.

After some struggle, Marilyn fell asleep in the middle of the night!

By the time she opened her eyes the next day, it was almost nine o'clock. She was shocked when she saw the time!

Her flight was at ten o'clock. She had to set off forty minutes in advance.

She quickly got up and immediately went to wash up after putting on her clothes.

She was busy all of a sudden. When she packed up everything, she pulled up her suitcase and went out at exactly nine o'clock.

The moment Marilyn opened the door, she saw Malcolm waiting outside with a suitcase.

Malcolm's casual outfit made him look unrestrained. The moment he saw Marilyn, his cold eyes suddenly became warm and gentle.

Marilyn slightly narrowed her eyes and returned to her usual indifference. "Good morning, Mr. Lowe!"

When Malcolm heard this, he frowned slightly. His blazing eyes dimmed a lot. She was heartless. Now, she was cold again.

Malcolm felt a slight pain in his heart.

Malcolm said in a low voice, "Lynn, good morning!"

"Let's go!" Marilyn walked towards the elevator.

Malcolm looked at her slender back weirdly, feeling helpless and distressed.

'Marilyn, how am I going to do with you?' Malcolm thought to himself.

Malcolm pulled his suitcase and followed Marilyn, standing side by side and waiting for the elevator.

Malcolm glanced at her from the side and said, "Lynn, there is a car waiting for us. We'll go to the airport directly!"

"Alright!" Marilyn nodded and did not say anything else.

Malcolm felt helpless seeing so.

He wished they were still like yesterday. But yesterday, he used her sympathy in exchange for a day and a night of happiness!

"Lynn, let's go! The elevator is here." Malcolm's tone was calm, but his heart was extremely bitter.

"Alright!" Marilyn entered the elevator without looking at him. Along the way, the two of them were silent.

Getting out of the airport of Fielddell, they took a taxi home respectively They didn't talk much today.

Along the way, Malcolm suddenly felt that he was isolated from Marilyn's world.

This feeling set him in a bad mood.

Thinking that the next day was the weekend again and the two could not meet, his heart ached even more.

Marilyn returned home and found Roland there.

He was playing Rubik's cube with Dominic and Laverne in the living room.

Denise was doing the cleaning.

Seeing Denise, Marilyn suddenly thought of the possibility, 'If ... it was true, then, the child in Denise's belly...

No, no, no,' Marilyn refused to believe it.

She suppressed all her emotions and shouted with a bright smile. "Roland, Denise, Dominic, Laverne, I'm back."

"Wow! Mom is back." Laverne raised her small hand and waved it at Marilyn.

Marilyn smiled dotingly. It felt so good to return home!

"Mother!" Dominic also shouted.

"Dominic, Laverne, have you been good kids? You didn't make Denise worry, right?" Marilyn asked.

Denise smiled from the side. "Lynn, they behaved very well."

"I'm glad to hear that!" Then, Marilyn smiled at Roland.

Roland did not dare to look straight at her. He lowered his head and somewhat dodged her gaze.

Marilyn pulled her suitcase over and stopped in front of Roland.

Roland looked up slowly. When he saw Marilyn looking at him deeply, he averted his gaze and slowly lowered his head.

Marilyn looked at him with a gaze full of helplessness.

"Roland, come upstairs. Let's talk!" With that, she pulled her suitcase upstairs.

When Dominic saw this, he smiled and asked, "Uncle Roland, have you made my mother angry?"

Roland looked at him bitterly and nodded. "Yes."

He replied weakly.

Then, Roland slowly got up and walked upstairs.

Roland regretted it after making the call last night. He was too impulsive and angry at that time!

But after the call, he regretted it!

Even if Marilyn didn't have feelings for him, he wanted to quietly stay by her side.

At least this way, he could see her when he wanted to.

However, if the relationship between the two became rigid and Marilyn did not want to see him again, what should he do?

He loved her, but he would not stop her from falling in love with someone else.

However, Malcolm's family was complicated and full of schemes. Roland was worried!

Knowing that she was coming back today, Roland came here early waiting for her.

Waiting to say sorry to her!

Roland walked slowly, but the staircases were short.

Marilyn made two cups of coffee and placed them on the table on the balcony, sitting waiting for Roland.

There were a lot of plants placed here, turning this place into a beautiful garden in the air.

This was Marilyn's favorite place.

She looked at Roland who still had his head lowered and helplessly said, "Roland, why did it take you so long to get on the second floor? Even a snail is faster than you!"

Roland laughed dryly at her.

Marilyn pointed at the rattan chair opposite her and said, "Roland, sit!"

"Alright!" Roland sat across from her slowly.

Only then did he look Marilyn in the eye. "Lynn, I'm sorry about what happened yesterday!"
