Chapter 229

Ch. 229 / 281 Apr 07, 2026

After Yvonne left, Guillermo looked at Samuel and said, "Let's go. Come with me and explain everything."

"Yes, Mr. Lowe." Samuel glanced at Guillermo, then walked behind Guillermo with a sigh.

He should have been more careful.

The Lowe Group!

Sergio and Julian sat in front of a laptop, watching the news on it.

Julian shook his head and said angrily, "Guillermo's incorrigible. He simply brought a random person in to take the blame and thought he had settled the case. It not only made our plans come to nothing but alerted the real culprit."

Sergio raised his head to look at Julian and asked, "That video ... what's going on? Did that woman really treat Malcolm like that?"

Hearing Sergio's words, Julian sneered, his expression turned cold as frost, "Sergio, let me tell you, what you saw is just the tip of the iceberg. Some of her other deeds were way more wicked than this."

"A few days ago, Malcolm and I went to his home to pick up his items. Yvonne deliberately fell in front of us and told Guillermo that Malcolm pushed her."

"She was confident that Guillermo believed in her, and that's why she acted so recklessly."

"In spite of what you said, if we don't post more videos, what can we prove through this single footage?" Sergio looked at Julian, his eyes turned cold.

Seeing Sergio's cold expression, Julian glared back, "Don't look at me like that. I did exactly what Malcolm told me to do."

With a frown, Sergio turned his eyes back to the screen and closed the laptop. "I'm going to get off work," he said flatly.

"What a coincidence!" Julian said as he looked at Sergio disdainfully.

Julian walked towards his office and meant to pack up before getting off work.

Meanwhile, a strange smile appeared on Julian's face as he thought, 'Malcolm must have had a good time with Marilyn today.

Lynn, Lynn — that's what Malcolm calls her. I wish I could see how Malcolm acts gently in front of Marilyn! I bet he would not find it any boring to call this name a thousand times a day.

But Malcolm's gentleness was only for Marilyn. What a shame!

While mine was only for Jeannie.

By the way, it was so strange that I haven't heard from Jeannie for the past few days.

I must do something! I have to check up on Edward.

Otherwise, I won't be able to set my mind at rest.'

As Julian was just about to enter the office, he suddenly realized that Sergio had always been mature and steady, and he rarely got himself drunk. That night was the first time he had seen Sergio get drunk so badly.

Julian leaned lazily against the door and looked at Sergio, who was packing up, "Sergio, why did you drink so much that day?"

Sergio paused for a moment when he heard Julian's question. He pursed his lips and continued his movements without saying a word to Julian.

Seeing this, Julian knew that Sergio would not tell him anything.

He teased with a smile, "Sergio, go confess if you fall in love with someone. Don't miss the chance before it's too late."

Hearing Julian's words, Sergio's movements paused slightly. He glanced sideways at Julian, and his gaze turned sharp. "Do you want to know?" he asked in a flat voice.

Julian hurriedly nodded his head. Of course, he wanted to know! He had always been curious about what was behind Sergio's unusual behaviors!

He could not believe that Sergio, who was a proper-behaved person in the eyes of the three of them, would make such a scene!

Julian laughed evilly in his heart. To let Sergio see what a mess he had left after getting drunk, he had stayed with him late into the night that night.

It might be the only chance in his life to see Sergio act like that.

Sergio curved his lips and said coldly, "You will still be single this year."

Julian's eyes widened in an instant, and he growled at Sergio, "Did you just lie a curse upon me? Do you want me to keep single? But you haven't even gotten rid of your destiny yet. Don't forget that we're on the same boat!"

Sergio picked up his laptop, took his briefcase and car keys, and walked out of the office area. After a few steps, he turned back to look at Julian.

When Julian saw his gaze, his eyelids twitched.

He should not have offended this sharp-tongued guy.

"Sergio, stop. If you want to say more to hurt me, I'd rather you leave me alone."

"Your family has dinner earlier than mine. If you go home late, your mom's gonna ask you to go home earlier after work. And she will say don't play outside. There are many bad people out there!"

"It's better for you to go home now. You don't want to be preached at by your mom, do you?" Julian teased.

Hearing this, Sergio frowned.

He thought, 'I haven't even said anything yet. Why are you so scared?'

"I thought you were bold. I didn't expect you would be so scared despite that I haven't even said a word," teased Sergio.

"I just want to tell you that your car has been cleaned up. You can go to the parking lot to get it." Sergio's teasing flashed past Julian's ears. It made Julian feel cold.

Sergio's gaze became deeper, and his pretty lips curled into a mocking smile.

When Julian heard Sergio's words, his entire body shrunk instantly, and he could barely stand without leaning against the door.

He realized that he misjudged Sergio. He was a smart person indeed, but he just could not read Malcolm and Sergio's minds.

He thought Sergio was irritated, but the next moment Sergio reverted to the gentle and easy-going man.

When he thought that Sergio was easygoing, Sergio instantly became an angry beast. Julian sometimes found himself suppressed by Sergio. In fact, he was totally suppressed by Sergio.

For example, just at the moment, Sergio's tone was very calm and polite, but Julian could hear the irritation and ridicule in his voice, and Sergio did not mean to hide them!

"Go, Sergio. Go, don't get in my way. I don't want to see your face." Julian waved his hand timidly and let Sergio go.

He chose to stay away from the man who he could not afford to mess with.

Sergio glanced at Julian with a faint smile and turned around to leave.

Julian also turned around and went back to his office. If he saw Sergio's face again, he would be too angry to eat tonight.

When Sergio had just walked to the elevator, he met Alaina, who had just finished work.

Alaina smiled sweetly. "How's it going? Sergio."

"Good." Sergio nodded indifferently and did not look at Alaina.

He narrowed his eyes slightly, and on his usually gentle and handsome face, there was a lingering sense of sadness.

Alaina glanced at him, then looked at the elevator. Seeing that he did not react, she reminded him, "Sergio, the elevator came."

At that moment, Sergio was staring at the floor, thinking. Hearing Alaina's voice, he instantly came back to his senses and glanced at Alaina. "Thanks."

Then, he strode into the elevator.

Alaina followed him in, but she was a little nervous.

The elevator door closed slowly. The narrow space became quiet and somehow oppressive.

Alaina thought to herself that Sergio seemed to be in a bad mood.

She raised her eyes slightly and looked at Sergio. She saw that he still had his head lowered, and there was a sense of sadness and loss between his brows.

"Ed ... Sergio, are you feeling OK?" She mustered up her courage and asked, her tone full of concern.

Sergio finally realized that there was another person in the elevator. He quickly drew back his emotions and shook his head slightly.
