My sobbing got louder as I felt someone from behind me. It stopped walking and helped me stand up. I couldn’t present myself to him but when I could feel his possessive arms claiming me, I turned to face him and hugged him. Gone are the maids who used to clean. I didn't realize they had left, perhaps because Adams is here now. I'm so thankful he's not leaving yet. Large beads of tears fell from my eyes. I can't count how many drops have been paid, all I know is that I'm so attached to Adams that I don't want to let him go.
"What happened?" His voice sounded worried, so I buried my face in his neck. I can't bear the thought of losing him again. I'm prepared to wager again if he accompanies me in the fight. I'll make certain that I win every challenge we meet while we battle.
I didn't say anything and just gazed up as he abruptly carried me up. I tightened my grip on him around his neck, refusing to let him go. As he took his first step forward, I took a quick look around. I noticed us ascending to the top of his room and I checked if any maids were watching us. It's not that I don't want them to see me but seeing my face like this while Adams is carrying me like a child is embarrassing.
We got inside his room without anyone seeing us. When he lowered me to his bed he lifted my chin and looked me out of the eye as if every look he had would penetrate me. I averted my head from him because I didn’t want him to see me puff out my eyes like fish that are no longer fresh. No one spoke to the two of us. I also couldn't wander my eyes in his room to see if anything had changed but I couldn't because our eyes will meet. I lost all my courage earlier.
"Is there nothing to tell me?" He doesn't take his hand away from my chin as I play with my fingers because I appear like a child who he is now chastising for how I avoid myself. I used to have too much bravery to stop him from fleeing, but now that he's right in front of me, I can't even voice a single word. Even though he's right in front of me now, I'm not sure if he's still going to leave. Maybe he'd still try to go if he didn't get the correct answer from me.
"Don't leave," I murmured softly but clearly enough for him to hear. I bit the bottom of my lip because tears were gathering in the corner of my eye and I was about to sob again. I was concerned I wouldn't have enough to say to him and he'd still decide to go. Even though I know I'm wrong, I still can't say "I'm sorry." I shuddered as he pulled his hand from my chin; I wanted to reclaim it and return to how he had touched me, but my tears only trickled on his bed cover.
"Isn't it pretty unfair?" His tone was not irritated. It was still sweet, and it was apparent that he didn't want me to be frightened about how he would pronounce the words. I was stunned as a result of what he said and nearly injured my lip to keep the little cries from coming out. "You pushed me away, and then the wind shifted and carried you back to me," he said even though he got out of bed, and I looked directly at him. He walked behind me but did not come out; instead, he added to what he was saying to me.
"I know why you're here; you heard about my flight, right?" I turned to face him. He is now facing the window, looking away, and you can see the resolve in his eyes. When I saw his faraway eyes, all I could think was, "Oh. This is most likely where it will all end. " Even though I don't want to confess it to myself, that's what I see in his acts, and it can't be ignored any more. I was running late.
"I want to blame you when I see you again. I'd like to ask you why you left when you were in pain. I've already emphasized that I don't want you to have any difficulties." He paused and smiled at me. "I told myself, you're too selfish to take care of the situation, and you're too selfish to forsake the love I've given you." He walked to me while I was perplexed. Isn't he who pushed me away? I would have asked if he hadn't already answered the questions in my head.
"But when you told me that every time I touched you, you hated your own body, I realized I should quit."
“NO—”
He didn't even wait for me to complete what I wanted to say before continuing on, which deepened my heart even more. "Aria also apologized to me since she did something wrong the day you departed. She claimed to be the reason you left. " He was already close to me and his hand was on my face. “Sorry. We would have been OK if I hadn't let her stay in this place.”
"But destiny may not be for us," he kissed me lightly, and I cherished every movement of his gentle lips on me. "I'm glad I met you, and I have no regrets about loving you. My only regret is that I allowed you to despise your body because of me." He pulled away from our kiss. "I have nothing else to hope for except that you find someone who will make you feel safe since I fail to do so," he chuckled. "Well, it's a bit sad to say that I wish you could see the person you love, but I know my feelings for you will pass, just as you felt about me before."
He left me into that room, without allowing me to say anything.
