Chapter 77: I'm courting

Ch. 77 / 116 Dec 06, 2025

He was holding my arm, but I was simply staring at it. Is there anything else I can do for him? I didn't look at him since I didn't want him to feel sorry for me, just because he showed me those feelings. Another possibility is that he was already aware of my presence in his office. Maybe they were actually mocking me —-because I'm a fool. I believed in the things he made me feel— that he is interested. Perhaps he sensed I desired it too badly. I lifted my hand to remove his hand because I am getting burned by each of his touches.

His grasp on me was still firm at first, but it gradually eased. I merely put up with the ache even though it was possible that I might never be able to love again. When I closed the door, I didn't say anything and instead kept going. But before I could pass the employees' cubicle, he called at me, which caused me to ground to a standstill.

"Aria, talk to me." I could detect a mournful tone in his voice, but I disregarded it since I knew it was just another of his ploys to get me to believe. I kept going without looking back at him. After all, I didn't know what else he was going to say to me, so I headed directly to the parking lot. So that is the reason why he doesn't talk to me anymore; he already has someone else, or perhaps I'm basically a third party between the two of them.

He stopped chasing me until I got in my car. The butterfly perished in my stomach, which had been hurt recently. My blood had become pale after being crimson with excitement for a few weeks. What if I'd confronted him sooner? Perhaps he'll change his mind again. I was already going home, but one of my friends contacted me when I was in the spotlight, so I read what was in the text message.

"Hey, me and Jane are in billiards right now; do you want to join us?" It's Kylie, the woman who usually drags me to the bar when it is my first time seeing Lucas. I didn't reply and just kept driving.

When I arrived home, though, she had another message for me.

"All right, let's go! We'll introduce you to someone; and besides, your dating life has been dormant for quite some time. ”

I initially stared at the message when Kylie's name appeared on my screen again, then the following message she had was the address where they were. I swiftly turned the car around and returned to the road, to go to their location. Maybe I need something to keep me occupied since my brain could be unsettled again. It's far better to have no emotional relationship than to offer the heart to somebody who doesn't care how to handle it so that it doesn't get harmed or shattered. I didn't respond to Kylie either, just went straight. I simply gripped the steering wheel tighter because I felt like I was going to have to restart from scratch.

When I arrived at the billiard bar where they were, it was exactly like any other pub. There doesn't appear to be anything amusing to view in this place. But, despite this, I continued to enter. There appear to be a large number of people because there are several luxury vehicles strewn outside.

I could hear the women giggling as soon as I walked in. It seems that instead of enjoying myself, I shall be bothered by the cacophony of others surrounding me. When I opened the door to the room where they had reserved it, they all peered at me. I had no idea there were more of them than Kylie had mentioned. That is not the case with me because I recognize about half of them and have seen the others previously.

Kylie came running up towards me while dragging a man. That's probably what she had mentioned earlier. Instead of rejoicing that she was caring about me, I was beginning to wonder why I had even come here rather than peacefully relaxing. Kylie pushed the man towards me, and I only raised an eyebrow. The man rubbed his head, as if he, too, was being coerced. I've just recently seen what he looks like, and I can't deny that he's rather attractive. He smiled at me and gave me an apologetic sense, so I didn't know I was giggling.

"Leave him there," I ordered to Kylie, and everyone laughed because it sounded like I was just going to abuse the man in my eyes the way I said that.

When they left, everyone's attention was drawn away from us, except for the man, who remained standing in front of me. I drew him to sit next to me, which astonished him. I'm not sure why he insists on talking to me when it's clear that he's not interested in me either. I couldn't help but inquire.

"Why are you here if your mind isn't here?" I was gazing at the players, but he was staring at the ground. He didn't appear to understand my question, so I added what I was going to say. "Would you like to go somewhere comfortable?"

We're now lying in front of my car, staring at the sky as though it's about to rain. We're currently in the mountains, where I used to go when I was down. If he was not speaking earlier, he is now starting to talk.

"I'm courting a woman, but I don't think she's interested in me, so I decided to seek for someone else because I'm afraid if I wait too long, she'll claim she tried to like me but couldn't bring herself to love me. So loving her for more years will only lead to a deeper wound.”

I quickly compared his predicament to mine since it appeared to be the same, but before I could say anything, a car arrived. I don't know how they discovered this place because I know I am the only one who comes here frequently because this is my secret spot.
