Tabitha's POV
After the farce made by Derek, he didn't appear for a couple of days
I became more and more uneasy, always feeling like maybe he sensed something was off.
Could it be that he figured out I was pregnant?
But I doubted that. If he had known about my pregnancy, why would he remain silent and even make sure that I had my meals on time?
Recently, my meals became more and more nutritious and every dish seemed to have been carefully selected. But again, maybe that was just my illusion.
The meals contained fresh, high-protein ingredients, such as grilled chicken breasts, fish, and a lot of veggies.
I asked Joanna about the change in my meals, and she told me she had instructed the kitchen to prepare them this way.
She said that I suffered a lot carrying the baby and that the morning sickness was so intense. So I gotta eat right.
Without Derek around, Rose Manor was eerily quiet every day, but I couldn't shake this feeling that a storm was brewing.
Joanna couldn't help but chuckle when she saw me acting all paranoid all day long. "Ms. Hartley, you're overthinking it. I heard that the Amber's Eye Pack is urging the wedding. Daphne, despite her poor health, has so many demands. I mean, she's paralyzed, but she still wants wedding photos. And Alpha Derek's stuck dealing with her."
"Right, he's about to get married," I murmured. After I found out that I was pregnant, my whole heart was devoted to the baby, and I even paid much less attention to Elena.
I'd been super sleepy recently, and the quality of my sleep had improved a lot compared to before.
As my physical condition improved, Crystal began to recuperate, too.
While I was lost in thought, a servant came in and brought a sumptuous breakfast.
It included scrambled eggs, whole wheat toast, and fresh fruit.
I felt very well taken care of, as if I were the precious one in this family, receiving meticulous care.
"Ms. Hartley, please try to eat a little more. You've been vomiting severely these days. Pregnant women usually gain weight, but look at you! You're getting skinny."
I didn't really have the appetite, but for the baby's sake, I had to munch on something.
"But I heard from my mom that morning sickness happens when the mother's body is rejecting the baby, which indicates that your baby is very healthy."
Having heard that, I slightly curved my lips. "Really? That's awesome. I'm sure my baby is definitely gonna be very healthy."
If I could give birth to a cute and healthy pup, I would have no more regrets in my life.
Just thinking about the kid eased my churning stomach a bit.
Gritting my teeth, I told myself I could make it. For the sake of my pup, I had to eat more.
Derek's POV
Tabitha didn't know that recently, my secretaries had been recording what she ate every single day.
"Ms. Hartley vomited four times today. Her appetite wasn't very good, but she perked up and ate everything you sent over."
I nodded, ordering, "Ask her what she wants for dinner tonight and have the kitchen prepare it well."
"Got it, Alpha Derek."
Before hanging up the phone, I asked one final question, "How far along is she?"
"It's about twenty days or so. Why do you ask, Alpha?"
"Nothing. I'm just wondering when she'll have her screening tests."
I hung up the phone, thinking, 'Twenty days... That timeline matches up perfectly with when Klein showed up. Could it be that they had sex the first time they met?' I covered my face with one hand while my other hand clenched into a fist.
So Klein was the father!
As a werewolf, I placed great importance on family lineage. If the baby were mine, I would not hesitate to take on all responsibilities. But if it weren't...
