The New Procurement Officer
At 10 a.m., Jason was in his office working, while Julia and Mary sat on the balcony with little Jason who appeared to be growing very fast. He had already started speaking the gibberish language.
In the office, an email notification popped up on Jason's laptop screen. He opened the email and read the content. It was an email for his approval to begin the onboarding process of the new applicant who will be occupying the position of procurement officer. Jason downloaded the attachment of the applicant.
Mark Smith. He read the name and looked at his CV and supporting documents.
Approved. Jason replied to the email and continued with his work.
At Wellington's company, James sat down patiently waiting for what was next after successfully going through the interview. He had spent time preparing himself with the help of Fiona.
"Mr Smith, the boss has approved everything. Your onboarding starts tomorrow at 9 a.m.," the man said to James. "For today, kindly see the HR and submit the necessary documents to create a file for you. I believe you have all your documents here," the man asked,
"I do," James replied calmly with a smile.
"That will be all Mr Smith," the man said and directed James to the HR office.
James stood up and went to the HR's office. He frowned seeing it was a man behind the desk upon entering.
"Very typical of Jason, where are all the women?" James thought as he sat down on the seat offered to him. "Is the thing with women genetic," he thought. "Or Jason runs this place?" he thought staring at the man behind the desk whose eyes move from his laptop to a document in front of him and vice versa.
"Congratulations Mr Smith, and welcome onboard. Can I have your document?" the HR manager said and James said thank you after handing his document over to the man.
"Here is your contract. Kindly go through and sign. You don't have to submit it today. You have up to the end of the week to read through to decide if you want to sign or not," the HR manager said, but was surprised to see the man sitting before him had already signed the contract and was handing it over to him.
"Wow, you are the first person I have seen pen his signature without reading the contract terms," the HR manager said with a surprise smile plastered on his face as he accepted the signed contract from James.
"You are a reputable company and I don't think I will dislike any terms in this contract. Again, we agree to the terms and conditions of applications we download without reading them. That is because we need the application and without accepting the terms and conditions we can't have them," James replied calmly.
"I see," the HR manager said. "I hope you will double-check before you procure any materials the company may need, and not get them ignoring the checks because we need them," he added and realized his statement came out wrong.
"Don't worry, some rules don't apply in certain conditions," James said to change the intention created.
"Good to know," the HR manager said and continued working on James' document.
"This company appears to be male-dominated. That is nice," James said hoping to get an answer to the question, where are all the females?
"We do have female employees. They are on different floors," replied the HR manager.
"Oh, okay," James acknowledged.
"Okay," the HR Manager said. "I need you to sign, here and here," he said handing a file to James.
He quickly signed the two places indicated and gave the file back to the HR manager.
"That will be all. Kindly proceed to the IT department for your working tools," the HR manager said to James and he nodded standing up to his feet.
"If Jason is working here, Julia must be here too," James thought as he proceeded to the IT department.
At the IT department, James met with another man.
"Ah, you must be the new employee," the man said. "I am Jonathan. Head of IT," the man introduced.
"Smith, Mark Smith," James introduced himself accepting a handshake from Jonathan.
"Welcome Mr Smith. And this is your laptop. All set up and FYI, all the laptops are being monitored. It doesn't matter where you sit to work," Jonathan informed James.
"Thanks for the heads up," James appreciated and wondered why Jonathan would reveal such information to him.
"If you want to wander into exciting sites. I will advise you to use your phone and not the laptop. This company does not tolerate employees doing that. If you are caught, finito," Jonathan added and James understood.
"Thank you," James appreciated
At least he knew not to use the laptop for certain things.
"Is the boss around?" James asked.
"No, for some weeks now, he doesn't come to the office. He works from home but he has his eyes everywhere," Jonathan replied.
"Why?" James asked trying to confirm the reason he had in his mind.
"Well, you didn't hear this from me. The silent rumour going round has it that, a wicked relative of his broke out of prison. He is protecting his family from this wicked relative," Jonathan whispered into James's ears and he frowned but quickly changed his expression when Jonathan moved back.
"I think you are all set to start working here," Jonathan said with a smile.
"Thank you," James appreciated and exited the IT department.
James wondered if Jonathan was straight with the type of behaviour he just displayed for a man. He was happy with the information he had received. He knew he already had someone who he could get information from. If Jason is working from home, he knows Julia will be working from home too.
"Now, has Jason moved or he is still in his apartment? The one whose location I know," James thought as he walked towards the exit.
"One way to find out. Go check it out," James thought and stopped a cab.
He sat in the cab and gave the destination as Southwest Ranches City. He sent a text to Black asking for his help to confirm the location of Jason and Julia.
At Haward's International, Fiona appears to be getting better as she looked a little lively at work today.
"Hmmm, if I didn't know any better I would think James breaking out of prison with no news of his whereabouts and Mrs Haward being set free is good news for you," Mirenda said to Fiona.
"Well, you are wrong. The reason behind my joy this morning is Vera. She, she, she, got good news," Fiona said, stammering a little.
"What good news?" Mirenda asked.
"Why is she always on my case?" Fiona thought. "Something she was pursuing for a long time suddenly went through for her. She told me about it last night," Fiona said awkwardly.
"That is great," Mirenda said. "Anyway, the only reason I came to see you is to remind you to review the client's documents. We need to take a decision today. It is long overdue," Mirenda said and exited Fiona's office.
The same office that was given to James when he was brought in to work there.
