When Love is not enough

58; Meeting for breakfast

Ch. 58 / 95 Jan 26, 2026

“.... after all that has happened, my decision is to get this done ASAP. Would you please invite your parents to come along for breakfast, please?” She requested.

A smirk spread across Jack's face. That's it, he'd dealt with her and now, her senses have finally been activated. She could even talk so humbly and pleaded with him to do so.

Sometimes, these women needed to be dealt with. Hit them with an iron fist and they would know their place as quickly as they should and they'll adjust and act like a proper lady.

“Fine. We'll be there” Jack replied and hung up. He should have acted so excited before her but if he does, she would think he was desperate about the whole nonsense. He isn't desperate to be entangled with her.

Sona was enough for him. Everything he ever desires is in his woman. If there's anything he is eager to have, it is to get between her legs and teach her a life lesson. That's all.

On the other end, Camella sneered. Bastard, he hung up on her? How dare he think so highly of himself. He would know what she was capable of doing and only then, would he know that he should never challenge the strength of a woman.

Jack came downstairs and said “Camella is ready to talk about the wedding plans. She requested that we share breakfast together” he informed and his parents exchanged glances.

“I told you. We can manipulate her by that singular accusation. As you can see now, she's already requesting our presence. We should have done this, a long time ago” Clara beamed with excitement.

“Better late than not. It's not still bad after all” Kunle Johnson chimed. He just wants to owe everything his friend has and his son was going to make it possible by getting married to his daughter.

Jack is his trump card.

Twenty minutes later, the Johnson's drove into the vast compound of the Wood's mansion. They were welcome. Benson felt uneasy. He is tired of the pressure this family was mounting on him concerning their kids union.

He was at loggerhead with his daughter the previous evening and did the irrevocable, slapped her. And now, they've arrived again. So early to share breakfast with him.

He didn't call them over nor did they inform him of coming. But anyways, the cook can prepare something fast for them all.

But more than that, he was worried about his daughter. She hadn't been home since the previous evening and he doesn't know where she could possibly be. If they asked after her, he would tell them she wants to be alone.

“You're welcome Kunle and family,” Benson Wood said. Why does he feel as if they were desperate? He smiled and exchanged pleasantries.

Sara came over and saw Benson settling them into the sitting room. Shouldn't they leave their meetings in the evenings? Most people have such meetings after work and leisure.

She'd heard about dinner nights but breakfast mornings were rare. Is marriage a do or die affair? Why wouldn't they let Mr Benson and his daughter have an easy life. Always coming for breakfast and almost ruining one's entire morning.

“I hope you don't get bored by our regular breakfast meeting? If Camella hadn't invited us over, we wouldn't have come bothering you this early” Clara announced, smiling and yet responding to Sara's stare.

She saw this old servant staring at them with a hostile gaze. She despises women like her, a stupid gold digger.

“You mean Camella invited you over?” Benson asked, she isn't home, how could she invite them over? There's something wrong somewhere. She wouldn't do that if there's no plan up her sleeve.

“She did uncle. She called me and told me to inform my parents to come over. She's willing to talk about our wedding and the date..” Jack explained, he felt proud saying those words.

Sara felt a lump on her throat. She knows Camella to a great extent. If she really invited them over to talk about the wedding, she'd prepared a surprise for them. She exchanged glances with Mr Benson and simply walked away.

“Fine, if she said so, she would join us soon,” Mr Benson assured. Why her sudden change of mind? Last night was a night he and his daughter Camella would never forget in the history of their existence.

He slapped her and she walked away without saying a word. He'd called her and she wouldn't answer her phone nor return his calls and text messages. Did she think he was so mad with her and decided to take the bull by the horn and please him?

They soon heard a car honking outside. A breath of relief escaped Benson's lungs. Thank goodness, she showed up. She returned home early. He couldn't sleep the previous evening when he knew his daughter was sad and probably staying up awake.

Camella soon walked in, dressed casually, her hair in a high ponytail. She was plain with no make up. She appeared like a girl in high school in her jeans and a polo. She wasn't wearing a smile but had a blank face.

Slung behind her back was a backpack. She didn't say hello to her dad or anyone else. Her nanny stood at a distance, she glanced at her and gave her a reassuring stare. She knows what she's doing, and they were going to settle the score once and for all.

“I'm sorry for keeping you all waiting” she apologised and glanced from one person to the other. She placed her backpack down and said, “I'm sorry to have you all together, since Jack's parents and my dad are head bent on ruining my life, I dimmed it fit to call you all together this early…” she paused and glanced at her dad.

Kunle and Clara exchanged glances. Has she invited them over to humiliate them again?

“Look here dear, at this point…” Benson Wood was saying when Camella said “At this point, I will be the one talking and it's compulsory, everyone will have no option than to listen”

Benson Wood went lost.
