When Love is not enough

78;There are some truths…

Ch. 78 / 95 Jan 26, 2026

At this point, Alice felt a weight of guilt slammed into her. This is really unfair on her part. She lives with Andre and how can she not be happy to find out her son is a prince?

He'd lived for others, never considering his own comfort and she was sobbing and pleading with his parents to go away and look for him elsewhere. This is not fair, and it's definitely not love.

“Forgive me your majesty…I was selfish a while ago…” Alice apologised and clasped her hands together. The act she put up a while ago, the words she uttered, is called selfishness. There isn't anything else that it can be called.

“We don't mean to cause you this pain, but if you were in our shoes, what would you have done? Wouldn't you do the same thing that we are doing?” Charlotte demanded.

Even if he wasn't a born prince. Even if they were like every ordinary citizen, if they discovered this truth, wouldn't they have come for their son still?

“You're absolutely right, your majesty. Please forgive this selfish woman. I am a senseless woman to have thought that way, please pardon my foolishness…” Alice pleaded.

Meanwhile, Andre Torello heard his phone ring and it was Camella. He'd been trying to call his mom but she wasn't just answering her phone. Maybe he should go back home, he can't afford anything happening to his mom.

That was when Camella called. He answered his phone and he heard “I'm at the door” Andre was dazed, at his door? He gave her the address that she requested from him and now, she's at his door.

He went to the door, peeped through the pinhole, before opening the door. There stood his girlfriend, he sighed softly and stepped aside, letting her come in.

As soon as he shut the door, he scolded her “I told you why I didn't go home and gave you the information you asked. Did I say you should come over? Aren't you complicating things further?” he snapped at her.

“No, I don't think so. I only came to keep you company…” Camella was saying when Andre interrupted her “If whoever was after me knows that you are my… I mean…we're in a cordial relationship, they can come for you to get to me..” he stuttered.

“So, are you ashamed to call me your girlfriend or do you really resent me? How can you be worried about someone knowing that you and I are dating? What the heck is wrong with you?” Camella retorted.

There was silence as he walked over, picking his phone and dialling his mother's number again. He didn't respond to her question, rather said “Mom isn't answering her phone and I am worried about her” he complained.

“How about we send some of my bodyguards to your villa to find out if she's alright? I came with quite a few of them” Camella suggested.

“Alright, but I will call her again” he said and this time, Alice answered her phone “How're you son?” Her voice was solemn, embedded with a mixed feeling.

“What happened to you mom, are you alright?” Andre asked, not sure if something happened to his mom. Her voice was not so vibrant like it used to be and he was already thinking fast.

“I'm fine Andre” Alice replied but Andre is not someone that can be easily fooled when it comes to his mother. He knows her a lot and from her words, he could deduce her state of mind.

“You're not fine mom. I'm heading home already” he said and was going to hang up when his mother said “I'm really fine. I was shaken by the truth I found today. And yes, I'm not at home…” Alive said and glanced at the royal company.

“Invite him over already” Charlotte said, impatient in her voice. She wants to meet her son and if it happens now, fine. Alice saw Prince Clifford nod and she said “I'll send you an address,Andre. Come find me there”

A few minutes later, Andre had checked out of the hotel with Camella. As he got to the parking lot, he said “ You should go home, I'll tell you everything that happened…” Andre suggested.

“I won't go. I'll come along with you and you can't stop me” Camella declared. She doesn't know what would happen to him over there. His mom has sent him an address and room number of a hotel.

What if she's used as a bait? What if his enemies are after him and decide to abduct his mother to get him? No way, she cannot leave him alone at such a critical moment.

“Please don't. You should go back home. I want to go and meet my mom…” he persuaded but Camella would not listen. “Let's go already, you can't change my mind. I'd die for you,Andre, if that's what it takes”

Her words momentarily send Andre speechless. He didn't argue with her but got into his car. Camella slipped in after him, taking the copilot seat. She strapped her seat belt on and was typing on her phone.

But somehow, Andre felt relieved. At least someone was by his side. He didn't feel alone. He glanced at Camella briefly and sighed. She didn't see him glance at her because she was busy on her phone.

“I have my men surrounding the place. We will go in and I'll keep updating them. If there's an emergency, they'll move into action…” Camella was given an update.

“I don't feel it's something bad. But she talked about a truth that we are not interested in knowing. Perhaps, they are the ones who took her” Andre flippantly responded.

When his mother said there's a truth she found out, he could only think of the reason why they suddenly moved over into the villa. They changed addresses but it's unfortunate they couldn't change their identity.

“Truth? What truth are you not interested in?” Camella asked, her curiosity heightened. Truth should be intriguing after all. But then only truth that tends in the paths of positivity and freedom intrigues.

There are some truths that can ruin one's happiness forever.

“My biological parents,” Andre said casually.
