“And you're that wild chicken who thinks she can fly with the wings of a phoenix,” Alice retorted. Her smile is getting broader. This lousy woman dared to come to her home and invariably called her a wild chicken.
Regina sneered and eyed Alice. Beyond her words, she knows Alice was insulting her. She thinks she can get back at her with her words? No way.
“I can assure you that this woman here will be the bone that will choke your throat. You just wait and let the owner of the house come, I'll make sure he or she fires you. This is my promise to you” Regina bragged.
Alice should have known what she was capable of doing. As long as they remain in that city, she would forever remain her nightmares. And this job she just got, will be withdrawn from her, when she's done talking with her employer.
“Oh really? Are you really going to have me reported?” Alice acted all scared and broke out into a loud laughter. This woman is so gullible. How does she expect that there would be a boss somewhere in that house and yet, she's seated so comfortably while she is standing?
“You just wait and see. I will be the ruin of you” Regina threatened. A part of her was wondering the audacity of this woman. How can she be so confident and not scared of her threats?
“Are you sure you can carry out your threats, Regina Logan?” A voice responded from the stairs and she turned abruptly to see Andre Torello standing with a cold stare. The gaze coming from him was freezing.
Regina squinted. What the hell is this mother -son pair doing here? If Alice is an employee of that house, should Andre also be? Besides, standing in such an expensive shirt and pants, he doesn't look like an employee but the owner of the house.
She turned and glared at Alice briefly and back at Andre. No, he can't possibly be able to afford such a huge villa. What is he doing different from what he'd always done when her daughter was still engaged to him?
Andre descended the stairs and walked over to stand before Regina Logan. His gaze was cold and dark. After that day, when he was pleading to be accepted and loved by her daughter, they hadn't met again.
And staring at her now, he could only think of hurting her the same way they hurt him. And to think that she scratched his mother's face a few months ago, he wouldn't spare her.
“What did you say, you would be whose ruin?” He asked and waited but Regina couldn't reply him back. The older woman sneered and turned her gaze away. She cannot connect the dotes together.
Are Andre Torello and his mother her new neighbours? The exquisite cars that drive in and out of the compound, does it belong to them? Or are they caretakers for the rightful owners?
“Now, listen to me. If you ever utter such words to my mother again, I'll have your front teeth removed. Now, you'll apologise to my mother!” Andre ordered.
Regina glared at him with a killing intent. Her brow furrowed into a frown and she felt furious. She was going to refuse it when Andre interrupted her thoughts.
“You will do it now or I'll have you locked up for violation of property? I can even accuse you of theft and there's no way you can deny it. Apologise to my mother!” He commanded, his tone authoritative and demeaning.
“I didn't do anything wrong but I see you are trying to frame me. I might say sorry to your mother but it's definitely not from my heart and that, there's nothing you can do about it” Regina sneered but murmured “Sorry” and turned to leave.
“Not so quick Regina” Andre blurted, smirking.
Regina froze on the spot. Andre called her by her first name? That's impossible! Has he lost his manners now?
“You said those words from your lips and not from your heart, I am not offended, not in the slightest. You no longer have a heart. What you got in there, is not a heart, but an engine house that simply pumps blood.
But this would be the last time, you'll walk in here, with those miserable feet of yours and annoy my mother in her own house. If you do it again, my men would use a bulldozer and bring down that thatched place you live in” Andre warned.
“And that would hasten her son in-law to give her the penthouse he promised. Several months have passed and she hasn't moved into the penthouse” Alice mocked.
She has never been this happy in months. Regina Logan couldn't utter a word as Andre threatened her. Her voice had suddenly disappeared and her pride had melted away.
“Yes, Patrick will never forget messing with me when I am done with him,” Andre smirked, his gaze fixed on the intruder.
Only then did Regina fully accept the reality before her. The new neighbours she'd got are Alice and Andre Torello. She was wrong to have come looking for them. They are now mocking her.
But how did Andre make such a money? He'd always been an average guy.
She glanced at Alice and her son and back again, without another word, she made a move to go when Andre stopped her again.
“Regina Logan, I was going to send a notification to you. But since you are here now, I'll inform you and my lawyer will follow up with it before the end of the day. You told me the day your daughter got married that you are willing to pay back all I have done for you and your family double.
Well, I will not be interested in the double payment, and refund. I am a gentleman and I want to remain so. I want a refund of every penny spent on your daughter from her university days and an interest of the total money spent.
And secondly, I will be taking back my kidney and you don't have to pay an interest on that. And lastly, every drop of the pint of blood donated to a member of your family, will be drained out, all at once.
It's pay back time. I want everything back and it's going to happen within two weeks from now. I am ready to take everything back!” Andre informed,
Regina had visibly gone pale!
Even Alice Torello was taken off guard, she glared at her son, unbelievably.
