Wedded To The Ruthless Mafia Boss

A strange call

Ch. 98 / 166 Jan 15, 2026

Darian, Gaius, Jay and some of the bodyguards paraded the quarter where the three rogues who attacked them at the anniversary party were staying in the Dawson family house. Their remains were wrapped and taken into the ambulance the Dawson family medical team came with.

Darian was befuddled, they were all good the last time he saw them and now they were dead. All three of them died overnight with the same polonium poison found in their system.

"What's going on, what's happening?" Darian questioned Gaius who was looking just as surprised as Darian was.

Gaius clasped his hands together, shaking his head. “We've been too lenient, we've been too slow and now these people are all over our territory, killing people with poison and we don't even know who they are." He uttered in a stern voice that showed aggression. He was mad, so mad.

Darian kneaded his temples in worry, pacing the compound and watching as the ambulance drove out of the gate. He had done all that he knew he could do to curb the attacks, but all his efforts have been futile. Nothing at all was working.

"We need to act fast before they strike again," Gaius mumbled.

Judson's chauffeur drove his car into the compound before the gate slid close. He walked swiftly to where Darian and Gaius were standing.

"I heard what happened," he said. "How did this happen? What exactly is going on in the Dawson family Mafia?" He asked them.

"We are confused, Judson. We don't know where the attack is coming from. We have been too lenient, we have to work out something, they will come back for us if we don't act now." Gaius said to them.

"Yes, this is what happens when an incompetent person mounts the throne of a boss." Judson spat angrily. "Things weren't this terrible when we had no boss. Now, he doesn't want us to involve ourselves in the dirty affairs of the Mafia." He scoffed, staring at Gaius and avoiding Darian like he was some germ. "How does a Mafia function without being dirty? These people are playing dirty with us and we have to give back to them, dirty! Men will fall, men will die, but we are fighting!" He growled, breathing hard as he turned his gaze to Darian. "Pick a side and let's discuss what to do here. We can't keep folding our arms and watch them kill everyone in the Dawson family Mafia with their poison."

"Yes, Darian. We have to fight to give it all it takes." Gaius supported Judson.

"Think, think! Be a man! Don't let your wife's pussy get the best of you. Do your job as a boss!" Judson yelled again.

"Don't, Judson. Don't ever talk about my wife in that manner again." He warned through gritted teeth.

"And what will you do if I do?" Judson dared Darian. "Hit me like you used to do? Just take a look at yourself," he gestured to him, moving his finger, up and down. "You are shameless and incompetent. You can't come up with an idea to catch the culprit but you can fight me because I talked about your wife's pussy." He laughed hard, narrowing his eyes on Darian, who was killing him with the stares his eyes produced.

"Enough of this nonsense, Judson. We have to find a solution to all of these now." Gaius stomped his foot on the floor. "You two should come with me and let's discuss how to solve this problem." He led the way with Darian and Judson following behind. They were some steps into the patio when Jay called Darian back, telling him he had a call from a strange number.

"What name is on the call?" Darian took permission from Gaius to attend to the call.

"I have no idea, sir." Jay bowed his head.

Darian patted Jay's back, "Check on the soldiers in the quarters and make sure to control them. I believe someone here is doing all these!" He said.

"I feel that way too, boss." Jay retorted.

Darian picked up the call when it began to ring again. He walked down to the garage and leaned against one of the cars there.

"Who are you and what do you want?" Darian asked, waiting for the caller to speak, but a series of wicked laughter shot through his ears.

"Hey, Darian." The caller started. Darian listened carefully, trying to grasp the sound of the voice.

"You must be having fun staring at the dead bodies." He chuckled over the phone. "It was just a simple assignment for them to scare your people away and return home, but they were adamant. Now they've met with their deaths."

"Who are you?" Darian asked in anger, taking note of all his words.

"I have been paying with you all these while. I guess this is time to stop, but before then, I have a surprise for you." The caller laughed out loudly. "After this surprise, I will let you be in your abyss and only show when I want to strike again. Maybe by then, you will get to know me.

"What surprise are you talking about?" Darian asked the Caller.

"You will see it soon," The caller said and ended the call immediately.

Darian was so befuddled, nothing was working out for him the way he planned it.

He glanced at the phone screen for a very long time, wondering what he meant by having a surprise for him. He had an ill feeling about that.

He called Jay with his phone. When he arrived in front of him, he handed the phone back to him and said. "He just called me."

"Who called you?" Jay asked him.

"The one we've been looking for and he said that he has a surprise for me." Darian glared at Jay. "I want you to keep a close eye on everyone here. You are my only trusted man here, I want you to dig well and find something tangible to report to me later." Darian said and Jay nodded his head to him.

"I will, boss. You can count on me." Jay assured him.

"Good, I will be inside with Judson and Gaius. Do not pick up the call the next time he calls me, let me know about his call and you should respond to all calls that come on today except the one from the number."

"Yes, boss." Jay bowed.

"I will see you when I am out."

"Yes, boss." Darian walked into the living room. When Jay was sure Darian was out of his sight, he went to join the other bodyguards, where the murder information was being collected.
