“He assured us that you will get better within a month," Lena said sharply, that was good news. The kind of news she wanted to tell him. "You don't have to worry, it's just a month and I will always be there for you." She slid her hand into his and smiled.
He trusted his wife.
"Gaius and Talia were here but they left in the morning, they had to attend to some urgent matters." She told him, excepting the part of Judson.
She had flared up when she saw him walking into the hallway earlier on. She knew well that Judson hated Darian, and she was just too angry to let him stay around if he hated her husband so much.
"Judson visited too," Jay chirped in, earning an eye roll from Lena. "I will call now to let them know that you are well."
Darian stopped him with his hand, "Let them be for now." He said, looking at Lena who was also staring back at him.
"Do you want to eat? Wait, we should let the Doctors know that you are awake." She motioned to Jay to get the Doctors, he left the room immediately.
"Thanks for staying with me," Darian said when Jay was out of the room. "I woke up to see you resting your head on my palm." He nibbled on his lips and shut his eyes painfully. "Lena, I have not been anything good to you. I hurt you, I hurt myself and hurt you in the process, but you still stay here with me, never letting go at any time." He kneaded her cheeks, his breath fanning her skin. "Thank you for always staying with me, Lena Dawson."
Lena opened her mouth to talk but the words didn't flow. She simply nodded and drooped her head, looking back at him.
"You are my husband and I will always stay with you. But," she wriggled her fingers in front of him. "Don't keep things from me anymore, you should tell me whenever you want to do something."
Darian took her fingers, squeezing them lightly, he kissed them. "I promise you, Lena. I won't keep things from you anymore." He crossed his heart, smiling.
Jay and the Doctor barged into the room, the Doctor hurriedly strode to the bedside.
"You are back," the Doctor beamed with a rich smile. "I knew you'd make it early enough. Have you tried to move the arm?" He asked Darian.
"Yes, but it hurts so bad," Darian whined.
"We did the X-rays, and the fracture caused by the bullet would take about a month to completely heal. Until then, you have to be careful with how you use the arm." The Doctor said to him. "Do you feel better?" He loosed the stethoscope from his neck, pressing it down to Darian's wrist, he checked his pulse and every necessary thing that needed attention.
"I am fine except for the light headache and the arm I can't move." He responded to the Doctor. "When will I leave the hospital?"
"Not anytime soon, you have to stay here for about a week. We have to keep close eyes on you, and give you the necessary treatments to hasten your recovery."
Darian didn't seem to be pleased with the Doctor's response to his question. He shook his head in disapproval.
“You do know that I have a lot of things to deal with, I can't stay in this damn bed for seven days."
"I am sorry but you will have to." The Doctor stared apologetically at him.
Lena smiled at the Doctor, "He will stay for the treatments." She told the Doctor, exchanging a meaningful glance with Darian. "You can leave now."
The Doctor took a look at Darian before exiting the room.
"I am your wife, Darian. I care about you, I want you to get better soon. So, if you care about me and my feelings for you, you will stay here for a week."
He gave her a face, knowing that she had won him there. "Please, stay for the treatments, every other thing can wait." She blinked her eyes. Darian was glaring at her like she had committed a grievous offence. She didn't like the face he was making, so she took his hand and stroked his fingers. "Darian," she called but he didn't respond to her.
"Boss, what do you want me to get for you while you stay here?" Jay asked.
Darian scoffed, "Are you not against the idea of me staying here for a week?"
"No, boss. I love it. You have been doing too much, you need a lot of time to rest." Jay answered truthfully
He had watched his boss for months. From going to his office to attending the mafia meetings to settle disputes and strategize, he knew that Darian was always working with the computer in his study, and he barely had time for himself. He even went to fight an enemy and almost lost his life in the process, he needed plenty of rest and needed to spend time with his wife who cared so much about him.
"Send a message to everyone in the Dawson family, let them know that I am alive." He told Jay. Turning back to Lena, he smiled. "You always have your way, don't you?"
"That's because I care too much about you." She kissed his cheeks. "Jay brought your clothes, you should have your bath and change your clothes."
"My arm," he pointed to his bandaged arm.
"I will wash you, Darian," Lena said immediately.
Jay drooped his head again, smiling sheepishly.
Darian chuckled, he loved the new side of his wife. She used to be shy to look at his naked body when they newly got married, but now, she wanted to wash him.
He smiled. They had progressed in their relationship and it was because she made room to make them work.
"Then you should." He said.
Lena pressed her lips together, her eyes roaming the room, from the door that led to the bathroom to Darian. "Come on," she stood up to take the shirt off his body.
"I will leave now." Jay bowed to them and left the room.
Lena got so shy when Jay left the room. Darian smiled, pulling her to the bed with his active arm.
"Stay with me for a while before you wash me, I need your warmth." He snaked the arm around her neck.
She stayed still, her back turned to him as he inhaled her hair. She shut her eyes, feeling every sensation that ran through her body as Darian touched her body in a seductive way.
