"Darian, go have your bath. We have the whole of the night to ourselves. Just us," she spread her arms around his neck and smiled. "Just us tonight."
"Happy anniversary to us." He kissed her lips one more time before letting go. He walked over to his closet, stripped himself naked and walked into the bathroom to take a quick bath.
A smile tugged her lips as she looked at her man. She sat on the bed, patiently waiting for him to be done with his bathroom business. When he was back in the room, she offered to clean his body with a towel.
"Do you like to see me naked?" He asked when she raped a towel around his waist. "You find me sexy, don't you?"
Lena blushed, leaving the towel on his waist. "You are my husband."
"Is that the answer to my question?" He ran his fingers on her skin and pulled her closer.
He gazed down at her, his eyes piercing into hers. There was a sudden rush of oxytocin inside of her. This man would be the death of her if she wasn't careful, she thought subconsciously.
"You are the sexiest man alive, Darian and you are mine." She snapped her fingers, fawning on him.
"How has it been?"
She squinted her eyes.
"A year with me, how has it been?" He expatiated.
"Crazy and amazing but I wouldn't want it any other way. I love to be with you and I hope that we spend more years together." She mouthed, raising her head to meet his kiss. "And you? How has it been with me?" She retorted.
He smiled, slipping on a shirt when she was done applying the lotion on his skin.
"It was hard to live with someone you barely know and even harder when you are someone like me. But you did have your way to mess with me, Lena. You messed with my heart." He kissed her again. "I love the fact that a beautiful woman like you is my wife. So, it's been amazing with you."
"Do you want to spend more years with me?" She smiled.
His mind briefly drifted to Thelma. She had been bugging him with texts and calls since the last time they met. She even showed up at the office one time. She promised that she would not stop until he gave her a chance in his life. But he couldn't, it took him a long time to open his heart to Lena and he wanted her to be the only woman who occupied his heart.
"Darian," she touched his arm to bring him back to reality. "Do you want to spend more years with me?" She repeated.
"Lena," he kissed her. "If you want me to stay for a long time, then that's what I would do." He smiled. "Come on, let's go eat." He grabbed her arms, leading her out of the bedroom.
Lena loved how his hand protected hers, she linked their arms when they got to the hallway.
"How about we celebrate with a baby the next time?" A sly smile played on his lips.
She nodded her head in agreement, "It's cool to celebrate with a baby."
They got to the dining table and settled on the cushion pads. Lena smiled at her husband, and he did too.
"There is rice and salads, butter chicken, steaks, seared scallops, and cookies. Which !one do you want to eat first?" She asked him.
"You," he responded with a naughty grin.
"Darian?" She twinkled her eyes. He always did that, made her blush too hard. "We have a cake too, I think we should start with that." She straightened to join him on his chair, perching on his lap. "Let's cut the cake."
"You want me to eat you and that's why you are here, seated on my lap." He wrapped his hands around her waist and grinned so heavily this time. He enjoyed teasing her, her face turning into a blush always amused him.
"Let's cut the cake, you naughty boy." She glanced back at him, planting a soft kiss on his lips. "Let's make a toast before we cut the cake. What do you have on your mind for us?" She looked at him, properly fixing the knife between their fingers.
"You go first," he said.
Lena chuckled, nodding her head.
"Just make the toast, say the things you want. I want them too." He assured her.
"To a long-time relationship and friendship, to love, to many successes, to cute little chubby babies, and us." She guided his hand with hers and they pierced the knife into the cake, cutting the side. She clapped her hands, and Darian joined in. She cut a piece from the cake and fed it to him, he did the same for her. "Did you like my toast?" She asked, chomping on the cake he fed her.
"Perfect!" He clicked his fingers. "Let's eat, I am starving."
"Sure," she served him rice on a plate and added some chicken. She mixed the salads without cream and added them to the same plate, just the way he liked to have it.
She had stayed with him for a year to know that he enjoyed eating salads without adding cream to them.
She served her plates with cookies and they started to eat. They talked about the Mafia, his work and many other things Lena had always wanted to talk to him about
They laughed so much, the moment was perfect between them, but occasionally, thoughts of Thelma would fill Darian's min. He hated that she was becoming a threat to his marriage.
Every moment he spent with Lena was the best time of his life, he didn't want anyone else but there was this unknown fear that kept popping into his mind whenever he thought of their relationship. He felt things were too perfect to be real and he could sense an impending danger that sent cold shivers down his spine.
He dropped the cutleries, heaving a sigh. He had to talk to Thelma to stay away from him and he meant it this time, he wasn't going to have it in a lenient way.
"Are you good?" Lena asked, wondering why he stopped eating.
"Yes, I am." He feigned a smile.
Clutching the glass of wine, he sipped from it and dropped it back on the table.
Lena smiled.
All she had on her mind was her husband and what would happen tonight after they finished eating.
