Wedded To The Ruthless Mafia Boss

64. You need a baby

Ch. 64 / 166 Jan 15, 2026

"Have you been running away from me?"

Lena's eyebrows quirked. Fiddling with her fingers, she lifted her head to glance at Talia, who had an amused smile on her lips.

There was something about Talia that made her nervous and relaxed at the same time. She liked to be with her, but sometimes, she just didn't know how to behave around her.

"We work in the same casino, but I don't get to see you often. Why is it like that?" She continued with her series of questions.

"We don't work on the same floor," Lena smiled harmlessly. "I don't get to see you most of the time because I get too occupied with work. I am sorry, I will come here more often."

"You should, I want to see you all the time. Tell me, how is your husband? I heard he just got you a new car. Do you like it?" Talia asked.

Lena smiled again. That was a question Talia wasn't meant to ask her, but she answered anyway. "I do like it," she said. "And Darian is fine, he's been good, he dropped me off this morning."

"Even though he got you a new car, you can't ride it on your own. You still need to have bodyguards to drive you around." She chuckled, fixing her eyes on Lena.

Lena just nodded, she wondered if Talia called her to her office to discuss the new car Darian just got for her.

"It's been eight months since you got married to Darian, Lena." Talia folded her arms and dropped them on her desk.

Lena's eyes fluttered open, "it's been a while coming." She pretended not to know what she was about to talk about.

"And you are not pregnant yet," Talia said in a soft voice. "As the godmother here. I must check on the welfare of all the women in the Dawson family mafia. I like you, Lena, I specially like you."

"Thank you," Lena said mildly.

"Lena, you do know that many people are awaiting the news of your pregnancy. This is not me putting pressure on you, but I want to encourage you to do what you can to make sure you have a child soon."

"Is there a reason for this?" Lena queried.

The first time Talia had talked to her about getting pregnant. She didn't take her too seriously, and since then her discussion whenever she saw her was always about having a baby.

"Lena, this position of Don must continue in Darian's lineage, he needs an heir to continue with this title when he's old and gray." Talia sighed, relaxing on the armchair.

She nodded her head. Darian had never talked to her about having a child and she had never thought of it too, but now that Talia had told her the reason she must have a child, it bothered her and she wondered if the few nights she'd spent with Darian were enough to get her pregnant.

"I will work towards getting pregnant," she replied to Talia.

"You should. About Darian, is he nice to you?" She asked Lena, her eyes resting on her to study her as she talked.

"He is, I don't regret being his wife," Lena responded proudly and firmly.

"I am glad," Talia smiled heartily. "I told you before that you can always come to me if you need to talk about him or anything bothering you, I will listen to you and give you the best advice, okay?" She wiggled her head.

"Yes, I have noted all that."

"You should go back to work now and let me know if any man tries to harass you. I will report his ass to Darian and let him deal with him."

Lena giggled at her words, she shook her head and stood up. "Thanks for having me in your office."

"You are always welcome here." She gestured to Lena to come over to her side. She bent down and enveloped her in a hug. "Do have a nice day, and tell Darian to see me if he comes over to check on you. I heard he visits the casino more often these days just to check on you." She let go of Lena.

"He has always been frequent here even before I started working," Lena argued. But there was no point, Darian had told her he detested going to the casino and the only reason he showed up was because of her. "I should go now," she told Talia and made for the door.

She knew Talia's eyes were on her as she walked out of her office.

She opened the door and bumped into Amy, who was parading the hallway like she was in search of something.

Lena looked at her for a few seconds before looking away. She took quick steps out of the hallway, and Amy followed her, she got to the corridor and stopped to turn to Amy.

"Why are you so petty?" Lena groaned. "Why are you following me around?" She asked, shooting a glare at her.

"You heard that I called you, didn't you?" Amy said, placing her hand on her hip.

Lena shook her head tiredly, "what do you want from me?"

"I can give you orders and you have to follow them because I'm your boss around here," Amy said.

"Agreed that you are my boss, what do you want from me?" Lena snapped at her.

"There will be a family game here next week and all the members of the Dawson family will be here. I want you to prepare hard because you will serve all the men who will visit the casino that day." She held her head high, adjusting her shirt to show her superiority over Lena.

"I will be serving all the men?" Lena scoffed. "Why would I serve all the men alone? What happened to the other hostesses?"

"It's a tradition that the newest hostess serves the men at every anniversary game. And you, Lena, are the newest hostess. I can't make you an exception because you are Don's wife. You have to follow how things work here." She let out a smug smile.

"There is no problem about that," she shook her head. "Is there something else you want to talk about?"
