Lena was sitting at the edge of the bed, scrolling through some websites on her laptop. She clicked on the screen and looked up at Darian.
"What do you keep doing on the computer?" Darian asked, heaving himself to the edge she was seated on. He peered into the screen and coughed out a little. "Job hunting?"
"Yes, Darian. I applied for jobs in some places and I am just going through the applications to see if any have gotten back to me." She kissed her teeth.
She balanced the laptop on her lap and continued to type on it, not caring what her husband's thoughts would be.
"Really?" He grunted. She nodded her head in response, eyes fixed on the screen. "Why do you need a job though?"
"Darian, can we not start with this today? You've asked me to stay off work since I stopped working at the casino and I listened to you. I can't be idle, I have to get something done." She stared sternly at him. "Please," she added, lifting her hand to stop him from discouraging her.
"Lena," he took the laptop away from her and smiled. "I am not stopping you from working, okay? I just don't want you to stress out yourself and our baby. Remember what the Doctor said, right?" He pulled her closer. "You have to rest a lot, let the baby relax. I can provide you with whatever you want for life, I just want you and the baby to be safe."
Lena sighed, shaking her head. She glared at Darian and heaved a long sigh again. He'd been so crazy about her since he got the news of her pregnancy, he had taken her to the hospital and asked the Doctors what they needed to do to make sure that the baby was safe.
It'd been three days since he heard the news of her pregnancy and he'd been unusually excited about it. It made Lena feel good too, Darian's excitement gave her the courage that she needed and she felt she could keep a healthy baby this time.
"Working online doesn't affect the baby, Darian." She smiled at him.
"I know you will counter my words, but I just want you to be fine." He kissed her hair and rubbed his hand on her tummy. "I am happy." He uttered after a long silence.
"I am happy too, Darian. I am glad that you are happy." She looked up at the ceiling, her face glinting with smiles.
"I feel like my life is perfect and that's only because you are here with me, as my wife."
"Darian," she called, lolling in his chest. "How did I get to fall in love with you?"
"You saw a handsome man that you couldn't resist. You just had to fall." He smiled jokingly and she hit his chest playfully.
"It was more than being handsome," she looked at him.
"Then what else was it about?" He whispered in her ears.
"Much more, Darian. A whole lot of things that I know and do not know of, but I am certain that I love them all. You put me first and always show me how much you love me, it makes me feel so good." She said, blushing.
"I have been in love with you even before I confessed my feelings for you. Lena, you are my world, I am completely in love with you and I don't want to stop, not for a moment." He took her hands up and kissed her.
"The Mafia boss falls for an ordinary girl whose father owes him some debt." She said, giggling. "Isn't it?"
"No, it isn't, Lena." He pressed his fingers to her lips. Shushing her, he leaned down to lick her ear. "It is an ordinary man like me giving his heart out to the best girl in the world." He traced kisses down her earlobes.
She giggled, repelling his touch. "I was doing something before you came to distract me, Darian." She said, shoving him away with her hands.
"Lena, the Doctor said we have to do it so often to enable a safe delivery."
"You are naughty, Darian."
"I was just trying to remind you what the Doctor said." He shrugged his shoulders. "Thanks for being in my life, for being so patient to let me love you. I will do it over and over again, Lena. I will love you until my last breath, you and our kids will be my entire world, and I will do everything to keep you safe. I love you, baby girl."
"I love you, Darian." She couldn't help it whenever he said those words with utmost sincerity in his eyes. Lena knew that Darian loved her just as much as she did. "Now, do you want us to do it?" She asked, pressing her lips together shyly.
"I should ask you that, do you want it now?" He sent her a wink that set her heart aflutter. Darian was always hot whenever he flirted with her and there was a way she always squirmed, wanting his touch, and body and yearning for him inside of her.
"Darian, I always want you." She said.
"Oh, you do? But you pretend not to want me when I touch you sometimes."
"Probably because I was mad at you then." She laughed, caressing her tummy. "Our beautiful baby is here."
"Yes,"
The smile on Lena's face suddenly faltered as she rubbed her fingers against her tummy. She looked up at Darian and said. "About Isabella, don't you think we should just tell her the truth about who you are to her and who she is to you?"
Darian let go of her, and the smiling expression on his face turned sour. He got out of bed and walked towards the vanity mirror, Lena followed behind, hoping she hadn't angered him with her words.
"I feel that's what we should do. Let's just tell her everything that we know about her, Darian." She hugged him from the back. He swivelled around to hold her. Kissing her head, he let her remain in his arms for a while before speaking out.
"I have been thinking of that too. You don't know how much it saddens me to know that that woman doesn't recognize me as her son. She only remembers my father from her past and that's hurtful!"
"Darian, she does remember you. She has spoken to me about you a lot of times, Darian. You were taken away from her when you were very young, it wasn't her fault. She's like this today because of the trauma of being rejected and taking her baby away from her. She's suffered a lot, Darian. Please, let's put a smile on her face again.
"I brought her home to take care of her but I can't even do that, I get so mad whenever she tries to talk to me and I just end up ruining the whole thing." Darian rubbed his temples in worry, shaking his head as his wife had her eyes fixated on him.
"You have to start somewhere, Darian. Start by having a proper conversation with her without yelling and getting mad." Lena said.
"How do you want me to do that? I get so mad whenever she's close to me."
"Don't say that, she fought to have you back but the Dawson family were stronger. She was left with no other choice but to hand you over to your father when you were born." Lena sighed. "You really should be thankful you have a mother, I wish I had one too." She smiled briefly.
"Isabella is here with us, she's going to be our mother. Darian said and she laughed. "That isn't funny, you know?"
"You haven't made peace with her and you want her to be our mother? The only way she can be our mother is if you drop your ego and go ahead to talk to her about who you are."
"I hope this doesn't get awkward."
"Do it, Darian. Make up things with her and let's see how it goes."
He nodded in understanding. "What if she doesn't believe my words?"
"Have you seen how much the two of you look alike?"
"That's not true," Darian shook his head.
"Oh, the resemblance is obvious and trust me, she won't doubt it. We have a lot of evidence to show her that you are her son."
"Oh, what would I do without you?" He kissed her lips and smiled.
"And there is nothing I will do without you too." Lena laughed, taking his full lips in here. She wrapped her arms around his neck and looked into his eyes. "Now that we are done with talks about Isabella, can we do it?"
"Oh, my wife needs me now and I dare not say no to her." He looked at her, not saying a word but just admiring how beautiful she looked in his arms. He felt so fulfilled, and loving and having Lena in his life completed his world in so many ways. "Will you always be my wife, Mrs Lena Dawson?" He asked, staring deeply into her eyes to see the love she had for him.
"Yes, Mr Darian Dawson. I will always be your wife. I love you so much." Darian claimed her lips with a mind-blowing kiss. He kissed her, pouring out his emotion into the kiss, it lasted for minutes until he carried her to the bed.
"You are my world, Lena. Just you and you alone." He placed her on the bed, kissing her again, he just couldn't get enough of her sweet taste.
